Over the last two years the amount of natural disasters is at not just an all time high, but at highs that are not even comparable to years past. According to FEMA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric administration and many other reputable Government and private organizations over the last 31 years there has been a total of 99 weather related disasters that have cost $1 billion or more in damages. That is an average of 3.2 big weather disasters each year. So far in 2011 we are already over 3x that number with 10!
Since the massive $2 billion blizzard that paralyzed cities from Chicago to the North East in January it has been one emergency to the next costing billions and billions of dollars and over 700 lives lost.
