  2. One of the most important ways of enriching the lives of your children is to see that they are involved in the arts. No matter whether you and/or they choose music, drama or art, they will learn many important life lessons, one of which is that they must think through the subject. In art, the artist must think about where he will place various items on his painting and which are more important than the others.

A way to introduce art to a child is to put a colorful painting, like Gramma, in the child’s bedroom and talk about it. Making up stories about what is going on in the painting will make it more meaningful to your child. Gramma is an original abstract, canvas oil landscape painting and will keep its colors for a very long time. It is a wonderful example of children’s wall art because of its simple lines and bright colors and is removable and replaceable as the child grows. Please visit http://www.murphyartstudio.com and find Gramma or another painting that your child will love or as a gift.

  5. Wooden Toy Train / Can be an essential part of a Child’s development.

A wooden train set is an adaptable toy that can start as a small set and be built up over time to become much more substantial system. Wooden train sets also have great play value because of their long-term usage as a child grows. Toys are essential parts of a kid’s development. It somehow represents what kind of thing or where his enthusiasm lies. They are also useful as educational toys and are particularly good for developing gross and fine motor skills as well as the ability to communicate.

Children love to play and a wooden train set is the perfect toy to bring them together. Whilst playing with a train set children can explore new roles, for example, one child might be the driver of the train whilst another can be the station master controlling the flow of trains to and from the platforms. Another child might be in charge of making announcements or be the driver of a different train. There are any number of roles that can be thought up and introduced and is very much let a child’s imagination run wild to create them.

There are a number of factors that will make a wooden train set so much more appropriate for toddlers and pre-school children over an electric train set for instance. First they tend to be non-motorized, which means that there is nothing mechanical to break, no electricity and no batteries are required. Secondly the material they are made out of is wood, which is very forgiving, robust and repairable.

In the United States, the wooden trains were first transformed into toys back in 1930’s. So our modern wooden toy trains’ ancestors are about 70 years old in age. The models were usually made of Maple tree wood. The wooden train set still captivates young children (and some adults) today. With an increase in the awareness and desire to purchase more ecologically sound toys for children. The wooden train set is probably set to entertain children for another seventy years as they learn and play.

Well personally, as a little kid, I was a wooden train enthusiast. I still find myself bewildered by the new generation of toy trains I didn’t see back when life was still carefree and there were lesser responsibilities.

Toy trains are one of the most intelligent toys that a parent can give to his kids. It is a very good choice for substituting those action figure things and robots.

What is so amazing with these wooden toy trains is that they are based on trains that exist, or once existed on planet earth.

Why not come visit us at Amish Furniture Crafts and check out our nice selection of Wooden Toy Trains, handmade by a local Amish Craftsman.

  6. Being involved in the arts is so important for children’s growth. Schools are interested in correct answers memorized or deduced logically, whereas the arts are concerned with feelings. One of the big lessons learned is that the arts teach that small differences can have large effects. Think of the difference in mood resulting from a song being played slowly versus quickly. Also, composers like to write variations on a theme, resulting in a large difference from the original.

A wonderful way to begin teaching your child about the arts is to hang a landscape painting such as Daffodils in the child’s room and talk with the child about it. Daffodils is an original oil painting on canvas and the colors will last a long time. The painting is replaceable as the child grows. Daffodils is a colorful tree painting on canvas, perfect for a child’s room. Please visit http://www.murphyartstudio.com and find Daffodils or another painting that you and your child will love or as a gift.

  7. Infants have an unusual ability to go through clothes at a fast pace during the day. Some days it seems like all you get done is changing your infant. This creates a lot of laundry and a need for a variety of clothes.
One of the most versatile pieces of clothing is the onesie. You can combine it with other pieces, or you can just use the onesie by itself. They can be a popular as a sleeper, play time clothing, or with other pieces of clothing for going out.
With the number of ways that you can use onesies, it is nice to have a variety of different onesies. At http://www.householdgoodsdepot.com you can select from a variety of funny, discounted onesies. You can even have the onesies monogrammed. We don’t have limit you to the designs shown, we will work with you to find a design that is perfect for your child.

  8. When you have a small child, it seems like you are forever cleaning their face or hands, or cleaning up a mess on you. It is a fact that infants are going to spit up on you, toddlers are going to be messy when eating, and you are going to be cleaning up one mess or another. And then, you discover that they are going to need to be changed also.
Two items you can never have enough of are onesies and burp cloths. Cloth diapers make an excellent burp cloth, and they can be washed and reused. And onesies are one of those articles of clothing that you can use with pants, skirts, under jumpers, or even by themselves.
Why have plain burp cloths or onesies? They can be fun with countless designs on them. They can be monogrammed, personalized or decorated to your specifications. The ideas are almost unlimited. While we show a few different designs for onesies and burp cloths, there are many more to be had. Our burp cloths are made from cloth diapers, and our onesies come in long or short sleeve. Best of all, we sell them cheap. Because of the vast number of ideas for the onesies and burp cloths, we embroidered them when the order is received. But it doesn’t take long to embroidered the burp cloths and onesies, so let your imagination go, and let’s make those personalized items for you. Check us out at http://www.householdgoodsdepot.com

  9. It is during a child’s first two years that a large part of the pattern for adult life is set. Parents and caregivers play a vital role in children’s early education. Parents are the central figures in the lives of their children and their beliefs will determine the education of the child.

There are many life lessons that children learn by being involved with the arts. One of them is that in complex problem solving, purposes are seldom fixed but change with circumstances – the purpose of beginning ballet is to learn simple heel-toe steps, but this can lead to complex dancing and being the lead ballerina!

A way to begin the road to the arts is by placing an original oil painting, like Rainbow’s End, in a child’s bedroom. The colors will last a long time but the painting is removable and replaceable as the child grows. Rainbow’s End is a colorful tree painting on canvas, perfect for a child’s environment. Please visit http://www.murphyartstudio.com and find Rainbow’s End or another painting your child will love or as a gift.

  10. When children have limiting disabilities that keep them from successfully communicating, it places a strain on family, friends and caregivers. Conditions such as autism isolate and insulate them from the world, because they don’t have the normal avenues of communication open to them. A lot of research has been done on the effects that music has on children who have limited ability to interact with others.

Autism is a neuro-developmental disorder affecting children with impaired communication and social interaction, making it difficult for them to become self-sufficient and lead a normal life. They may have repetitive behaviors and limited ability to interact with other human beings. They may also lack the ability to show interest in the world around them.

Music therapy is one way to interact with autistic children because it engages them in moving their bodies and responding to others. Learning to express themselves through singing, dancing, and drumming provides them with the opportunity to engage in social interactions and may even stimulate communication. Because autistic children often fear or are intimidated by human contact, learning to play an instrument, such as a simple african hand drum, provides a framework for progress into other activities such as singing and dancing.

It is important to consult with a music therapist to find out the best way to progress with treatment. Responding to music is one way that may help, but it does require a lot of compassion and patience.

If you would like to include an African hand drum in your repertoire of musical instruments, Djembe Drums Online has a wide selection of beautifully hand-crafted African and Native American drums. Sizes range from the 4” mini djembe to a large 48” ceremonial drum. The quality is unbeatable and we are dedicated to your satisfaction.

  11. Get your children involved with the arts! Sign them up for dance lessons, art lessons, music lessons. And if your children are but toddlers, sing and dance with them. Studies have shown that involvement with the arts helps kids increase test scores and promotes academic achievement.
There is no better time to begin than when they are young. Put wall art with simple lines, such as Turtle Island,in their bedroom and talk about it with them. When they can hold a brush, give them watercolors to paint with – and, no, they don’t have to stay within the lines! Let them enjoy putting all those colors on paper! The point is not to create a picture, but to allow the child to express himself, however he chooses, and then give him ample praise. Please visit http://www.murphyartstudio.com and find beautiful, original, removable oil paintings, such as Turtle Island, on canvas for your child or as a gift.

  12. Caps are an essential item for a new baby and can be worn for protection all year round, especially since many babies have very fine hair or no hair at all. Infant knot caps are very cute and comfortable, and soft to wear. They can also be worn under thicker woollen beanies to prevent any itchiness from the wool.

Pure organic cotton is an ideal choice for baby caps as it is so soft against the skin and contains no chemicals that can be absorbed through the skin and cause discomfort or health problems to the infant.

At Naturbub http://www.naturebub.com/organic-baby we have chosen a range of gorgeous organic baby products for your little baby.

  14. Feed your children the arts! They need the arts as much as they need food and shelter. The arts help children to develop and understand their own feelings – not taught in school where most answers given are rote memorization of facts. In time children need to learn that neither words in their literal form nor numbers can describe all that we know.

If your child is quite young, this is the ideal time to begin by putting an original oil landscape painting such as Allen Park with its colorful trees and creek in the child’s bedroom. Talk about the colors and count the trees and the child will enjoy the painting more. Often, children fantasize being in the painting, chasing squirrels and climbing the trees. These fantasies help soften the frustrations of childhood. Please visit http://www.murphyartstudio.com and find decorative wall art paintings for your child’s room or as a gift.

  17. How About a Large Warm Puppy Instead of the Real Thing?

Many children, at one time or another during their young lives –and often more than just one time- ask for a puppy. Sure, they may start out with a goldfish or hamster, but at some point, they begin to request a puppy as a pet. If you live in an apartment, condo, or other place that doesn’t allow dogs, or you simply don’t want to deal with the expense and time to care for it, you’re about to break a heart, aren’t you? Before you give your answer to him or her, think about a large warm puppy from Snuggables instead.

Children have an incredible capacity for imagination and stuffed animals can often be as real to them as the genuine thing. A large warm puppy from Snuggables is different than most stuffed animals that you’ll find elsewhere because of the warmth that they provide. A large warm puppy from Snuggables invites attention and hugs from your child.

The soft fabric will tempt your little one to want to spend every minute of the day with their new pet. The lifelike appearance and warmth you can add and your child will soon forget that it’s not an actual puppy but rather a stuffed animal. When you are faced with the dreaded questions many parents hear, ‘Can I get a puppy,’ then you will know that a large warm puppy stuffed animal is the perfect answer. http://www.snuggables.net

  18. Onesies are great outfits for a baby, but sometimes it is very convenient to have a two piece garment for an infant. If the weather changes the warm long-sleeve top can be taken off and replaced with a singlet or tee. If either gets soiled, just the top or the pants need to be changed. This makes a two-piece baby outfit great for travelling.

Because infants have very sensitive skin, fabrics need to be soft and chemical-free so as not to cause skin irritation.

Your little baby girl will be snug and comfortable in a little pink and grey mini-striped matching pants and kimono top in 100% certified organic cotton, available at Naturebub. The kimono cross over top has snap button fastening along torso and includes a tie for secure fitting.

Currently at a special sale price. Available in newborn size 000, 3-6 months 00 and 6-12 months 0.

  26. Preemie babies are so tiny that clothing to fit them is not always readily available. Preemie infants are even more sensitive to their environment than a full-term baby. Their lungs have not always fully developed sufficient protection from airborne pollution, so we need to protect a preemie baby from exposure to chemical toxins as much as possible.
Choosing organic baby clothing that is all-natural and chemical-free will reduce an infant’s exposure to toxins and thus reduce the risk of skin irritations and respiratory problems. Organic preemie baby clothing is really a must for such tiny babies. They also need as pure an environment as possible, which can be improved by choosing organic bedding and safe all-natural skin care products. Care must also to be given to the choice of room furniture, paint and flooring.
At Naturebub, we are passionate about giving a newborn infant the best and safest start to life as possible. Visit http://naturebub.com for a selection of preemie baby tops and onesies.

  27. Children need the Arts! There is so much we all learn about living from our exposure to the Arts. The Arts celebrate multiple perspectives; there are many ways to see and interpret the world. Whereas in math 2 + 2 always equal 4, in art, trees have red, blue, green or yellow trunks, Perlman plays the violin like no other, and many musicians have written variations on a theme.
A good way to begin is by putting a painting, such as Caloosahatchee Creeks Preserve West II in a child’s bedroom. The child will envision himself in the painting chasing rabbits or hiding behind a tree. These fantasies help children to overcome the stress of childhood.
Caloosahatchee Creeks Preserve West II is an original hand painted oil painting on canvas. This inexpensive colorful tree painting was created en plein air to capture the emotions of nature and bring them to you. It is contemporary in style and somewhat abstract. Please visit http://www.murphyartstudio.com and find Caloosahatchee Creeks Preserve West II or other paintings that will be just right for your child’s room.

  28. Have you ever had trouble deciding on a suitable gift for a new baby. I must admit, it did not worry me so much once. I would just purchase a cuddly toy or some cute soft clothing. However, now that I am more aware of organics, I am concerned that I buy something completely safe for the infant.
Toys and baby clothing that have not been produced in an eco-friendly manner may contain toxic chemicals that can cause skin irritations and respiratory problems to a sensitive baby. So I feel happier if I purchase a gift for a newborn or very young infant that is 100% certified organic.
At Naturebub, we have a variety of cute, deliciously soft onesies, pants and tops for a tiny infant - sizes preemie, newborn. Size 000 is usually also perfect for a new baby with a bit of growing room. Also check out the gorgeous little organic cotton toy bunny with rattle and other soft organic cotton toys. http://www.naturebub.com

  30. Are your children involved with the Arts? Did you now that studies have shown that children who are involved with the Arts are 5 times more likely to be recognized for academic achievement, 3 times more likely to be elected to class office within their schools, 4 times more likely to participate in a math and science fair, and 3 times more likely to win an award for school attendance? Being involved with the Arts is important to a child’s outlook in life and overall happiness.

A way to begin is to hang a painting in a young child’s bedroom, and a landscape painting such as Stiltz would be ideal. Children relate to the out of doors and can visualize themselves in the painting - playing, chasing squirrels, hiding behind the bushes. These fantasies help relieve the stress and frustrations of childhood.

Stiltz is an original hand painted oil painting on canvas. This colorful tree painting was created en plein air to capture the emotions of nature and bring them to you. It is contemporary in style and somewhat abstract. Please visit http://www.murphyartstudio.com and find Stiltz or another painting that your child would love.

  31. Everyone Can Be in the Band

Studies have shown that children who are exposed to and learn to play a musical instrument have an advantage over children who don’t, especially in the area of math. Music lessons can be expensive, and not every child is a candidate for violin or piano. Human beings are naturally rhythmic, since we all have a heartbeat, and walking and talking also have a rhythm all their own.

So how does a parent provide musical experience without breaking the bank or imposing a rigid schedule of lessons and practice? One possibility is to create a percussion band. Even if there are only two people in the family, you can have a lot of fun and help your child’s brain develop. Almost anything can serve as a drum, rattle, shaker or sound-making device. You can make your own mallets and drums out of everyday things. You can also fill cans with beans or rice to make shakers. Even two instruments can be exciting!

Starting with a simple 1-2-3-4 beat, you and your children can play along to favorite songs. Add marching or skipping to foster balance and rhythm. Tap on many different surfaces to hear the different kinds of sounds they make.

Eventually, you will probably want to advance to a real drum. A mini djembe (jem-bay) is the perfect size for young children to carry and play. Djembes are portable African drums that are used all over the world for singing, dancing, drum circles, and ceremonies. Get a mini djembe for your child and perhaps a larger one for yourself at http://www.djembedrumsonline.com. These beautifully hand-crafted drums from sustainably harvested wood will make your heart sing!

  33. In cooler weather baby and toddler boys need a collection of comfortable and warm long-sleeve tops to pair with warm winter pants, overalls or leggings. It is not always easy to find a top that looks really stylish and cute as well as being cozy and warm.

Not only is organic cotton clothing beautifully soft and durable, it is completely safe for your infant as it contains no toxic chemicals or pesticide residues. There are now many cute and interesting clothing brands, producing baby and toddler clothing using only organic materials and processes.

Pure Baby Australia has a collection of gorgeous organic clothing for infants and toddlers. I love the ink stripe crew neck top with the little elbow patches. Naturebub also stocks cute long-sleeve tops in arctic stripe and navy mini-stripe. Both would look very smart and cuddly with some corduroy pants or dungarees for a toddler or baby, or even just leggings. These comfy tops are available in baby sizes as well toddler sizes 1 and 2.

  34. Your children need the Arts! It is during the child’s first two years that a large part of the pattern for adult life is set. Parents are the heart of the child’s universe and their beliefs determine the education of the child. Parents know that in school children memorize much information. However, the Arts deals with feelings, and the Arts teach children that problems can have more than one solution and questions can have more than one answer.

A good way to introduce your child to the Arts is by hanging a painting such as Jaycee Park in his/her bedroom. The child will envision himself in the painting, chasing rabbits or playing hide and seek, and this will help to resolve the frustrations of childhood.

Jaycee Park is an original hand painted oil painting on canvas. This colorful tree painting was created en plein air to capture the emotions of nature and bring them to you. 36. Help Children Create their own surroundings!

Your child will soon grow up to really appreciate their surroundings. And one way to let children know that they are special is to give them some unique children’s furniture for their room, play area or outside. Children love to have something that is different and something that is important to them. Of course, there’s nothing wrong with that because, it makes them feel that they are in charge of their own room.

The internet is a great place to find unique kids’ furniture. Often this will help give you ideas for what you might like to find for your child’s room, or your child may even see something they really like. Regardless of where you look, there are always possibilities if you just keep your eyes open for creativity.

They will soon be at the stage where they will understand the necessities of what a bedroom should be like.

A child’s bedroom should reflect more than just the bed; it’s going to be a central area where games are played and friends are going to spend the night. As such, you should buy children’s furniture that best reflects the child’s needs in regards to space and imagination

Let it reflect their imaginations. If they are adventurous and action-oriented, then buy furniture that’s geared toward that. Fantasy-filled? There’s furniture for that, too. There is nothing that can’t be done in this room

    Traditional Style

While this may seem a bit contradictory, traditional styles can be very unique. Often antique or antique replicas use patterns, styles and colors that are not commonly seen anymore.

Try taking your child to a furniture store and asking their opinion on the various styles to get a feel for what they find pleasing.

    Shape

Children delight in shapes that are different from what they normally see, or what they expect.

    Color

Children all enjoy color, and they love to mix and match color. Try covering a piece of your child’s favorite furniture in a color they love to make it unique. Perhaps a canopy over the bed draped with pink mesh could complete the princess in a young girl’s room. Boys that love a particular sports team could have furniture in the room with that team’s logo or colors.

Unique children’s furniture doesn’t have to be expensive; it has to be different than what they see everywhere else. Come visit us at Amish Furniture Crafts and see our very unique selection of handmade Amish Children’s Furniture, which is handcrafted from Amish Craftsman.

  37. Being part of the Arts is such fun! No matter whether it is drama, music or art, being involved with any of these makes one happy! In addition, a child can learn many important lessons, one of which is that problems can have more than one solution and questions can have more than one answer. Itzhak Perlman interprets an violin melody like no other. In art, tree trunks can be red, blue or purple perhaps.

A way to introduce your child to art is by hanging a painting such as The Park at the Zoo in his or her bedroom. Your child will feel a part of the painting and can imagine hiding behind the bush or boating on the river. This helps the child resolve the frustrations of childhood.

A good way to begin is by hanging a colorful landscape painting, such as Salisbury Zoo Park, in the child’s bedroom. The children will envision themselves in the painting, chasing rabbits or playing tag and will work out the fantasies of childhood.

  40. Having a business where I sell certified organic cotton products for infants and toddlers has made me more aware of what exactly gets added to a natural fiber, such as cotton, to produce a product which is less expensive and of lesser quality. I can honestly feel the difference when I touch a conventionally produced cotton product and that of an organic cotton product. The organic cotton is much softer and is more durable so it will last longer. Some of the conventional cotton products feel like plastic, they are so stiff.
What makes them feel like this is the addition of chemicals and pesticides to the actual cotton plant and during the processing of the cotton. These additives break down the fibers; make them stiff and less durable than a natural fiber. Because the cotton has been altered, sometimes other synthetic materials are added for shape and feel. That is just touching on the way the garment is produced, never mind what it is doing to your skin or how these chemicals release into your wash when doing laundry.
I see more and more ads for organic cotton clothing and to me it just makes sense to spend the extra money for the quality and the durability. I also know what is against my skin, and my skin isn’t as delicate as your baby’s skin, so imagine how a conventionally produced cotton product affects their delicate skin.
You get what you pay for and when so many industries are taking short cuts to produce items so that they can cut costs etc., is it really worth it?

It is through these wonderful experiences they can discover the range and variety of what they are capable of feeling - and they will have such fun!

  45. We cannot easily avoid exposure to the many toxins and chemicals in our lives today. The air, streams and oceans are polluted. Even including fish in our diet is debatable because of the number of contaminants likely to be in it. Pesticides and fungicides are used in the growing of fruits and vegetables and antibiotics and growth promoters in meat and dairy.
Various toxic chemicals for such “benefits” as no iron, anti-static etc. are used in the manufacture of clothing. Commercial growing of cotton, used in the clothing industry, is one of the highest users of toxic substances. Even more chemicals are present in synthetic clothing.
To ensure good health, it is not enough just to eat the correct foods, we need to also consider the quality of products. In our daily lives, we need to consider using all-natural organic products as much as possible. This applies to all food including fruit and vegetables, meat and dairy and cleaning products, building materials and paints, personal products, clothing to name a few. Much is produced simply to achieve the quickest easiest profit without thought for quality and safety.
Since infants’ immune systems have not had time to develop resistance to toxic chemicals, they are especially susceptible and so can easily be affected by impure substances.
Parents will have peace of mind that no impure substances will be irritating their infants’ skin or affecting their health when they use organic baby clothing. Organic cotton clothing is comfortable and lovely to wear, the fabric is pure, deliciously soft and washes easily. The prices for organic clothing compare favorably with other good quality baby clothing prices and it organic baby clothing is now more widely available.
At http://naturebub.com we are happy to offer a gorgeous range of organic baby, toddler, preemie baby and little kids clothing.

  46. The arts will help your child! While the classroom requires children to give rote answers, memorized information or answers arrived by calculation, the arts helps your child to find his feelings. When you ask your child how he feels, he may say he doesn’t know. If you ask him to draw a picture and you question him about it, this will often lead to how he feels.

One way to introduce your child to art is to hang an oil landscape painting, such as Three Islands II, on his/her bedroom wall. Everyone loves the out-of-doors and water, and your child will envision himself being in a boat or playing in the water, perhaps even hiding in the woods.

Three Islands II is an original hand painted oil painting on canvas. 47. Commercially-produced cotton contains many chemicals and toxins that can affect the health of anyone who wears it next to the skin, or even breathes in the gasses released from the fabric. These chemicals cause many problems such as respiratory problems, infertility, skin rashes, dermatitis and even cancer.

It is wise to choose organic clothing, especially for babies, toddlers and little kids but even adults should consider choosing organic, if only for clothing worn close to the skin. Organic cotton is pure, safe, soft and easily washable.

  48. Children need the arts. In a day when children are expected to logically think through the solution to a math problem or respond to other questions with answers they have memorized, the arts teach children about feelings and a different way of thinking. The arts teach children to think through and within a material. In writing a play, the author must think about how the play will unfold as well as how it will be enacted on a stage. As the child in involved with a play, he will come to realize the planning that is involved. An artist must think about all the parts of his painting and how they fit together.

A good way to introduce a child to art is to hang a painting in the child’s bedroom. The child will envision himself in the painting, playing, hiding, chasing rabbits. He will come to enjoy the painting as it appeals to his feelings and as he paints, he will come to realize that planning is necessary.

  49. Children need the arts - whether music, dancing or painting. In school, children are expected to give the “correct” answer and to use numbers to find an answer. In the arts, they explore their feelings and learn about subtleties. They learn that small differences can have large effects. A small difference in the tempo of a song can make a big difference in the feeling of it. Many musicians have written variations on a theme of a song with a wide variety of results.

One way to begin is by hanging an oil painting in your child’s bedroom. Nessie’s 3 Kids is a whimsical painting of 3 small islands in a river or pond. The child will enjoy it and find himself in it, chasing rabbits or riding in a canoe and can work out the fantasies of childhood.

Nessie’s 3 Kids is an original hand painted oil landscape painting on canvas. This inexpensive colorful painting was created en plein air to capture the emotions of nature and bring them to you for your enjoyment. 50. Literacy means being able to read and write. A child’s reading skills are important to their success in school and work. In addition, reading can be a fun and imaginative activity for children, which opens doors to all kinds of new worlds for them. Reading and writing are important ways we use language to communicate.
Parents play a critical role in helping their children develop not only the ability to read, but also an enjoyment of reading. Reading is the most fundamental access skill. It is more basic than any content area like history, social studies, or science. It is even more basic than math. Students with initial aptitude in math will fall behind if they cannot read their math textbooks.
Law enforcement is beginning to realize that 78% of juvenile crime is committed by high school dropouts. But these dropouts can be predicted with 70% accuracy by third grade, based on reading ability, GPA, IQ, and prior retention. What determines GPA and retention at third grade? Reading ability.
So, how can a parent help their child, the answer is simple, comic books. For decades, comic books were derided as gaudy, sub-literate threats to children’s brain cells. Now, teachers, researchers, and librarians are taking a new look at comics and they like what they see: a way, in a culture now dominated by TV, video games, and the Internet, to get children reading. As far back as the 1940s, series such as “Classics Illustrated” and “Picture Stories From the Bible” were using comics as an educational tool. Comic books teach and bolster reading skills. Children are more likely to read something they enjoy. Children are more likely to continue reading once they learn to think of reading as enjoyable.

  51. Fire-retardents are commonly used in childrens and infants sleepwear. An early chemical used, brominated tris was found to be a serious health risk, and to be easily absorbed through the skin. This chemical has been banned in sleepwear but may still be used in baby carriers, bassinets and upholstered furniture foam. New flame retardents are used now in clothing along with many other toxic chemicals.

The only sure way of knowing that your child’s sleepwear is safe for their health is to purchase clothing made from organic cotton or other organic all-natural fabrics such as bamboo, hemp, wool or silk. These natural fabrics need also to be organic as they may otherwise contain chemical dyes, pesticides and other chemicals.

Your infant will be sleep safely in onsies and sleepwear made from 100% certified organic cotton. http://www.naturebub.com has a variety of gorgeous organic cotton onesies for summer and winter, and lovely long-sleeve medium-weight pajamas for infants and toddler boys and girls.

  54. It is so important for children to be introduced to the arts - and this can be done beginning at an early age. Parents can sing simple “camp” songs, children can take part in plays, or be given the opportunity to paint pictures. All these activities show the child that the limits of our language do not define the limits of our understanding. All these show children that feelings as well as knowledge are important.

When children are unable to express their feelings, they can often paint a picture to express their emotions. All the arts - dance, art or music - allow us to express emotions not possible by merely words or numbers. A good way to begin is by putting an oil painting, such as Fort Loramie II, in a child’s bedroom. It would be enjoyed by the child because the child can imaging himself in the picture chasing critters or hiding behind the trees, working out the fantasies of childhood.

Fort Loramie II is one of the many children’s paintings at Mary’s Art, Inc. and is an original hand painted oil painting on canvas. These inexpensive, colorful paintings were created en plein air to capture the spirit and emotions of nature and bring them to you for your enjoyment. They are modern in style, somewhat abstract, and with expressionism overtones. Please visit http://www.murphyartstudio.com and find Fort Loramie II or other paintings that you will love.

Organic cotton leggings are especially desirable for a baby, as not only are they soft, but a parent can be sure that they will not contain any pesticide, or chemical residues that may cause any skin irritation to their baby.
http://www.naturebub.com currently has a special discount price on organic cotton baby leggings, available in plain colours and very cute mini-stripes. These discounted leggings are also available in toddler sizes.

  57. The first two years of a child’s life are so important because it is then that a large part of the pattern for adult life is set. Because parents are the central figures in the lives of children, their beliefs will determine the education of the child. Hopefully, parents will realize the importance of involving their children in the Arts. Learning in the arts requires the ability and a willingness to surrender to the unanticipated possibilities of the work as it unfolds. In other words, a child could begin with ballet lessons, becoming more complex as time passes, and in time she could be top ballerina!

A great way to introduce art to a child is by hanging a painting in his/her bedroom. The painting Bo Tree and Staghorn Fern would be enjoyed by the child because the child can imagine himself in the picture chasing rabbits or hiding behind the tree, and can work out the fantasies of childhood.

Bo Tree and Staghorn Fern is one of several original hand painted oil paintings on canvas. This inexpensive, colorful painting was created en plein air to capture the spirit and emotions of nature and bring them to you for your enjoyment. It is modern in style, somewhat abstract, and with expressionism overtones. Please visit http://www.murphyartstudio.com and find Bo Tree or other paintings that your child will love.

  59. Feed your children the Arts! They need the Arts as much as they need food and sleep. Whereas in school, children learn there is one correct answer, in the Arts there are multiple ways to view the world. In art, the tree trunks might be red, blue or purple. In music, many styles are possible, or many variations on a theme.

Putting a landscape painting in a child’s room is a great way to introduce art. The painting Crystal Lake would be enjoyed by a child because of its simplicity. The child can imagine himself behind the tree or looking for ducks on the lake as he works out the fantasies of childhood.

Crystal Lake is an original hand painted oil painting on canvas. This inexpensive, colorful painting was created en plein air to capture the spirit and emotions of nature and bring them to you for your enjoyment. All of a sudden my main priority in life was firstly, that I kept myself healthy so that I would be around for my kids and then it was to give my kids the very best of everything that would benefit them in the long run. I made their food from scratch, limited sugars and processed foods. I didn’t give them anything that contained chemicals. If I didn’t want them to ingest chemicals, I certainly didn’t want any chemicals or preservatives on their soft skin, so I used all natural products on them. From baby lotions to their shampoos, everything was organic.

  61. One of the best reasons for having your children involved in the Arts is that being involved teaches them to make good judgments. Most of the curriculum requires them to give correct answers, but in the Arts, it is judgment rather than correct answers that prevails.

A good place to start is to put a painting in your child’s bedroom and ask questions about it. For the painting “The Chorus Line,” the parent might ask what are the colors of the tree trunks, is there a squirrel in any of the trees, what is behind the bush, and similar questions. These questions and others help the child to enjoy the painting and later to put himself in the painting and work out the frustrations of childhood.

“The Chorus Line is an original hand painted oil painting on canvas. It was created en plein air to capture the spirit of nature for a child to enjoy. This colorful, inexpensive painting is modern in style, somewhat abstract and with expressionism overtones. 62. Today’s world confronts us all with many choices and problems to solve, not the least of which is the proper formation and education of our children, especially if we are parents or grandparents concerned about their growth in faith, belief in God and becoming good persons. The sudden growth in home schooling of children is a good yardstick to judge the number of like-minded people who believe that what was once taken for granted – that our schools and, whether public or parochial – were doing a fine job of that is not the case anymore. More and more parents and grandparents are searching for resources to help them raise children who have a sound understanding of the beliefs which support our traditions, our very civilization, founded as it is on Judeo-Christian virtues and morals.
It is well known that children are very eager to learn in an environment which gives them a hands on opportunity to explore the lessons being taught. Coloring books for children from the early grades through Middle school are a tried and true teaching tool. The Mass Illustrated for Children is unlike many other children’s guides. It is an excellent resource for CCD and home schooling programs; or simply as a gift to a youngster in one’s family. The Mass Illustrated for Children is a children’s book which invites children to color the pictures and scenes that lead the child through each element of the Mass. It is a guided method for children while at Mass to follow along, or by themselves at home, to learn the Mass, and the symbols, traditions and significance of this beautiful and rich form of worship. The Priest’s prayers are highlighted in red, and the congregation’s responses are clearly marked in a distinctive font. A helpful commentary explains the history and meaning of each element of the Mass, encouraging the child to delve ever deeper into its mystery and meaning, and develop that fundamental reverence which will nurture maturing faith and help them develop a growing relationship with Jesus.
Whether you are beginning to introduce your students or children to the Mass, or have begun to help them meditate on the meaning, symbols and significance of the Mass as Roman Catholic Christians this book, available singly at a discount from The Christian Book Corner, or in bulk orders of 25 or 50 copies from tCBC for CCD programs and other religious education applications. Contact http://www.thechristianbookcorner.com to place an order.

  63. The Arts teach children many important lessons - although local budget makers might disagree as they cut art budgets first! Whereas, school teaches children facts, the arts teach children about their emotions and about a perspective on life. One lesson is that problems can have more than one solution and that questions can have more than one answer. Think of the musicians who wrote variations on a theme or on a work by another composer.

Landscape paintings are a wonderful way to introduce painting to your children. Put a painting in your children’s bedrooms so they can enjoy it and let their imaginations run wild as they chases squirrels or hide behind the trees, working out their childhood fantasies.

Landscape paintings are a wonderful choice. Putting a painting in a child’s room encourages the child to fantasize being in the picture, chasing rabbits or hiding from squirrels, and working out the frustrations of childhood.

  67. Thirty-eight percent of fourth graders in the United States cannot read (Department of Education, National Center for Educational Statistics). Education is the key to success. At a young age, a child’s mind is just starting to form, and the best way to form a mind is through reading.
The question is how do we get our young children interested in reading? The answer is simple: comic Books. Comic books have a built-in, natural attraction for children. Did you know that the thing that we are attracted to the most, as toddlers, is faces? Facial recognition is one of the first cognitive skills we learn. We learn to recognize family members, and begin to understand nuances in expressions at a very early age. Comic books are filled with faces displaying a variety of expressions. Therefore, children are naturally drawn to the artwork in them.
It does not take long for a child to figure out that there is more going on in the stories than they can get from the pictures alone. So, along with the built-in attraction, there is a built-in to understand the words. This is how comic books encourage children to read.
Not only do comic books encourage reading, they also provide many excellent examples of the benefits of a good education. Ray Palmer (The Atom) is a professor of Physics. Carter Hall (Hawkman) is an archaeologist. Clark Kent (Superman) has a Pulitzer Prize in Journalism. Henry Irons (Steel) has a PhD in Engineering, which enabled him to design his super-armor. Matt Murdock (Daredevil) is an attorney. Peter Parker (Spider-Man) has a degree in Physics. Karen Star (Power Girl) owns her own company, as does her friend Jesse Quick (Liberty Belle).
Do you begin to see a pattern? The heroes in comic books are not only strong and courageous, they are smart and well educated, excellent role models for any child. Even Batman tells the young people he trains that, despite the Martial Arts, and all the gadgetry, “Your greatest weapon is your mind.”

  68. Children learn to express their feelings by studying the arts Sometimes when a young child is asked how he/she feels about a certain thing, he/she is unable to express what he feels. If the parent can ask him/her to draw a picture and explain it, the child is then able to tell how he/she feels.

Landscape paintings are a great choice for a child’s bedroom. Children love the out doors because they spend a good deal of time there. Having a painting their room allows them to feel as though they are a part of the painting and they work out their fantasies.

  72. Do you ever notice how hard it is to pull children away from TV and video games? They sit for hours, bone numbingly glued to TV screens learning nothing of value. Most video games and TV shows are chalk full of disrespect, violence and graphic sexual situations.
As parents and caregivers, we have a responsibility to our children to spark there imagination. What better way to do that than comic books. Comic books are a great source of “visual story-telling”, better than any video game. Comic books are also a great way to get your child interested in reading, and reading is the key to learning.
With great stories like “The Mighty Thor”, a child can become involved in mythology and Norse legend. “The Atom” is great science fiction that teaches science, and one of the most popular comic books is “Superman” a character who stands for truth and justice, what a great way to teach a child good morals and social consciousness.
Spark a child’s imagination and see what happens. Comic books may be just the beginning but they are the portal to setting your child on the right path.
Check out the adventures of Thor, Superman, Spider-Man, Wonder Woman and many more at White Dragon Comics, all of our new comic books have a rating, so you know which books are appropriate for your child.

The media today is filled with plenty of negative role models, young girls behaving badly, dressing inappropriately, and partying excessively. There are even shows that seem to glamorize teenage pregnancy. Finding positive role models for your daughter may seem impossible.
There is one excellent role model that I can think of, who is strong, confident, self-reliant and respected by men and women alike. I know your probably saying, “She must be some kind of wonder woman.” Well, that is exactly who I am talking about, the DC comics superhero, Wonder Woman.
She is the type of role models that all young girls should have, wholesome, honest and sincere. She faces her problems head on with confidence and grace and always strives to do what is right. She treats everyone with kindness, and the only thing that makes her angry is the sight of injustice.

It is during a child’s first two years that a large part of the pattern for adult life is set, so it’s important for parents to think about what they want for the child’s future.

  76. What is a paraben? A paraben is a class of chemicals used as a preservative in cosmetics and used by the pharmaceutical industry. Lately, there is some controversy over paraben use being linked in low concentrations to breast cancer tumors. Parabens can also cause contact dermatitis and rosasea as a skin allergy.
Your baby’s skin is new to any harsh chemicals and preservatives when they are born. Their skin is more porous than that of an adult and will absorb any chemicals and preservatives that are used in conventional products.
At Baby Maya we believe that your baby deserves skin care products that are made from certified organic ingredients, no chemicals, no parabens, nothing harsh gets absorbed into their delicate skin, just pure goodness.

Life includes feelings and nuances and these are best taught through the arts. Music can be sad, lively, beautifully harmonic or stormy and clashing - and many other ways. Pictures can be peaceful, humorous or chaotic, to name a few moods.

  83. The sun is hot and will burn your skin faster and cause damage to the underlying layers of your skin. Your newborn baby’s skin is even more delicate and will burn much faster and cause more damage. Their delicate skin should be protected by a sunscreen at all times whether there is sun or not. The concern that many parents have is the chemicals that regular sunscreens contain and having to put that on their baby’s skin.
Using an all natural sunscreen for your baby is the answer, no chemicals or parabens, just 100% all natural certified organic. Our Sun ‘N Fun Sunscreen is a light non greasy moisturizing formula that is made up of certified organic ingredients. It is hypoallergenic, has an SPF of 30 UVA/UVB and pediatrician recommended.
Visit us at Baby-Maya.com for your supply of sunscreen and other great organic, all natural skin care products.
Your baby’s skin deserves the very best.

  84. It is a fact, that a baby’s skin is more porous than that of an adult’s skin. That means that a baby’s delicate skin will absorb the harsh chemicals that are used when producing conventional cotton material. These chemicals can cause rashes, and allergies in your baby. !00% certified organic cotton does not use any of these harmful chemicals when being produced, only safe eco-friendly method. Because 100% organic cotton was not produced with chemicals, it makes for a sturdier fabric, which will last longer. At Baby-Maya.com, we carry only organic. We have a great skin care line for your baby’s skin and cute all natural certified organic cotton clothing.

  85. It is so important for children to take part in the arts - whether music, painting or dance. These activities allow children to express their emotions in ways that knowing only words and numbers cannot. When children cannot express their emotions, they can often paint a picture about how they feel. The parent can then ask about their picture and learn more about the hidden emotions.

Landscape paintings are an excellent choice for children’s bedroom walls. Small children can imagine themselves in the picture - hiding, flying, chasing animals - whatever appeals to them, and can work out frustrations through their imaginations.

At Mary’s Art Inc. we have a large variety of original hand painted oil paintings on canvas. These inexpensive, colorful paintings were created en plein air (French for “open air”) to capture the spirit and emotions of nature and bring them to you for your enjoyment. They are modern in style, somewhat abstract, and with expressionism overtones. Please visit http://www.murphyartstudio.com and find paintings your children will love.

  86. When babies learn how to hold something in their hands, it is not easy to find a toy that is perfectly safe. The toy needs to be soft, as a new baby does not yet have full control or understanding of its actions, and may hit it against its face. The toy also needs to be safe for the infant to put in its mouth. This means no bits that can come off and be swallowed, and no toxic chemicals in the fabric. It is also nice to find a safe toy that has a little rattle, as this can amuse an infant for a longer period.

Pure Baby Australia has the perfect solution with their lovely little organic knit cotton toy bunny with rattle. The embroidered eyes and mouth and herringbone necktie sewed down for safety, make this the perfect toy for a new baby. Since the fabric is organically produced, this toy is also safe for baby to suck on.

This little organic cotton bunny rattle is available in grey and soft pink at http://www.naturebub.com/gifts.

  87. There are so very many life lessons that children can be exposed to by being a member of the arts community. One of those lessons is that learning in the arts requires the ability and willingness to surrender to unanticipated possibilities of the work as it unfolds. Purposes are seldom fixed, but change with circumstance and opportunity.

Think of the child who first goes to tap dance class, only to discover that she would rather learn ballet. As the years go by she advances and eventually becomes top ballerina. Or, think of the child in art class who, with time and opportunity becomes a great artist.

Landscape paintings are a wonderful way to introduce children to the world of art. Landscapes are an ideal choice because the out-of-doors is such a large part of our lives.

Naturebub has some gorgeous new long-sleeve baby tops in 100% certified organic cotton. Your infant or toddler will love the feel of the soft natural cotton. For a baby girl, you can choose from a sweet white bamboo and cotton mix long-sleeve top, or a white log-sleeve shirt with little blue birds. There are also new long-sleeve tees in various stripe patterns suitable for boys or girls.

  89. Kids today are constantly bombarded with displays of indecency. The internet is filled with videos depicting vandalism and assault. TV is overrun with reality shows that glamorize bad behavior and anti-social conduct.
In such an environment, it must seem impossible to instill any values at all. That’s why it is so important that we help our children choose suitable role models, ones that represent the values that we find essential. Of course, we can hope that they will choose us as role models, but in reality, it will more likely be a celebrity, professional athlete or some other iconic figure.
Some really good role models for kids can be found in, of all places, comic books . That’s right, super heroes make excellent role models.
One good example is Batman; we all know his story, how he overcame adversity and created triumph out of tragedy. He believes in justice and the sanctity of human life. He protects the innocent and fights against evil. These are all admirable qualities, but most importantly, he does what he does without super-powers.
Why not let Batman inspire your kids. Get all his latest adventures at White Dragon Comics. We offer discounts and great shipping rates. http://www.superherocomicbooks.com

It is great to also have a pretty, easy to wear dress that does not get in the way of an active toddler.
A perfect dress for this is a cute pomegranite red dress from Pure Baby. The fabric is a mixture of 70% bamboo and 30% organic cotton. As a result the dress is so soft to wear and safe for the most delicate skin. This dress is perfect for hot summer days but also looks gorgeous with leggings and tee or long-sleeve top for cooler weather.

  91. One of the large lessons of the arts is that there are many ways to see and interpret the world. The area of music is a perfect example of finding variations on a theme - where several composers have written their melodies based on inspiration from another work, either of their own or of another composer. On, consider artists: if ten artists painted the same still life, each painting would be different.

Landscape paintings are a wonderful introduction to the arts. Children love being out of doors and can relate to these paintings. If a parent asks questions like: Where would you hide? What’s in that tree? What’s behind the bush? They will be amazed at the answers their child will give.

  92. When I look after my daughter’s little toddler, I often need to forage for something soft and comfortable for her to wear to bed or just during the day. One of my favorite choices is a comfortable pair of leggings. Leggings are so versatile. They are great for active times and climbing, which toddlers love to do, and soft and cozy for a day nap or overnight sleep. Since leggings are looser fitting than tights, they are so much easier to put on as well.
Conventional fabrics may contain pesticide and other toxic residues that can irritate a baby’s sensitive skin. Since leggings
and tights hug the skin closely, all-natural organic cotton leggings are safe to wear, as well as comfortable and practical.

  93. In this day when children are encouraged to give the correct answer, the numerical answer, the precise answer, it is nice to know that another way to think is to make decisions based on qualitative relationships. In the arts, it is judgment rather than rules and precision that prevails. In music, is the song more appealing if played softer or slower? In art, is the painting more interesting if the perspective is from a distance or nearer? Red or blue tree trunks?

Landscape paintings are a great choice for children. They love the out-of-doors and put themselves in the picture where they can hide, chase rabbits, or find frogs.

  94. Being a part of the art community helps children in many ways. It greatly expands the world of feelings and knowledge far beyond what is found in the traditional learning program. The arts helps children learn to say what cannot be said. For example, if you ask a child what he feels about a certain subject, he might say he doesn’t know. Then if you ask him to draw a picture and explain it, very often you will discover exactly how he feels.

Landscape pictures are wonderful additions to children’s rooms. They represent a time and place where the child is free to feel and go wherever he likes - hiding behind the shrub, flying through the branches or playing with the animals - real or otherwise.

Infants, as we know, are always happier after a good, restful sleep, as sleep is the time when our bodies heal and rejuvenate. It is important that babies, especially, have a pure sleeping environment as they are very sensitive. When babies are clothed in pure natural organic cotton, there will be no chemicals or toxins to irritate their skin or lungs, and thus interrupt their peaceful sleep.
We have just added some lovely new organic sleepwear for babies and toddlers to our Naturebub website: gorgeous all-natural and organic winter pyjamas from Pure Baby. For baby/toddler boy, there are sky sleep stripe pyjamas with ribbed pant cuffs in 100% organic cotton. For baby girls there are cute mismatched pyjamas in scarlet leaf or blueberry stripe.

  96. One of the biggest difficulties that parents face today lies in finding something in common to share with their children. Kids today are gadget crazy and tech fluent, while most parents can still remember a time when there was no internet, when cell phones could only make phone calls and weighed a couple of pounds, and “text” was just another word for “book.”
So, what is a parent to do?
Well, one thing that worked for me, when my son was younger, was super heroes. That’s right, those gaudily garbed, ridiculously named, lantern-jawed denizens of comic books and Saturday morning cartoons, are still around and pretty much unchanged from the way we remember them from our own childhoods. More than a few have even made a successful transition to the big screen in recent years.
My son’s first introduction to super heroes was in the form of cartoons: Batman, Superman and The X-Men on Cartoon Network. When the first Tobey Maguire Spiderman movie came out, I asked him if he would like to go. We had such a blast that I took him to see The Hulk when that came out. Soon, I was watching Batman and Superman (two of my long time favorites) with him at home. One episode of Superman featured an adventure into the future, where he met a group of super-powered kids called The Legion of Super Heroes. I remarked that I had a box of their comic books stored at my mother’s house, and he said, “I’d like to check those out.” The next day we were sprawled on the floor of my old bedroom, reading them together. I ended up bringing the whole box home, and for several months, we spent time looking at them together.
Here at White Dragon Comics, we still remember the excitement and awe we felt the first time we saw Superman catch a car, or saw Bruce Banner “Hulk Out,” and we can help you re-live it too, and share it with your kids. 97. The arts teach children that small differences can have large effects. Think of music - several composers have written songs that were variations on a theme - either their own theme or that of someone else. The new piece can be faster slower or varied in many ways and the feelings engendered are therefore different from the original. The painter can draw people in styles varying from flat to blue to skewed. Subtle differences are important.

Landscape paintings also can have subtle differences from the norm. Children love trees of red, blue, yellow or purple!

At Mary’s Art, Inc. we have a large variety of original hand painted oil paintings on canvas. A short-sleeve, full-leg baby onepiece kimono may provide the perfect answer. Soft and cozy, a kimono provides some protection from the cold, but is also quite comfortable to wear in warmer weather.
Because the skin and air passages of babies are sensitive and delicate, we want to protect them from any harmful substance. Many chemicals and toxins are used in commercially grown cotton and even more in the manufacturing of items of clothing. All-natural organic cotton clothing is completely safe for your infant and is grown using safe, eco-friendly and sustainable farming methods.

  99. Feed your children the arts. Just as they need meat and vegetables, they need the arts in order to be the best they can be. For example, the arts teach them to think through a problem or situation. The author of a play must think about not only how the story will unfold, but also how it can be set on stage. The painter must decide how he will paint the scene - realistically, amusingly, or colorful, among many other possibilities.

Landscape paintings are wonderful for children. They love the out-of-doors and can imagine themselves in the paintings and games they might play or people or animals they might find in that setting.

  100. In school, we learn words and numbers. Words teach us not only our own language, but also history and geography. Through numbers we learn math, economics, and science. We may learn of the emotions of others, but not necessarily how to express our own.

When children cannot express themselves in words, they can often paint a picture to express their emotions. All the arts allow us to express our own emotions - whether through dance, music or art.

In art, landscape paintings appeal to everyone because we all enjoy ourselves when out of doors. Landscape art can make us feel happy and relaxed.

  101. Because babies have such fine, delicate skin, they have a tendency to get rashes and other skin irritations. These irritations can be caused by chemicals in clothing or washing powders, soaps and other cleansers and even baby lotions meant to protect a baby’s skin.

Babies need to be shielded from toxic chemicals and other unnatural foreign substances. For this reason, the best skin-care choice for a small infant is an all-natural and organic skin care product. You can then be sure that there are only safe ingredients in the baby skin product.

Miessence baby lotion is an excellent baby skin-care cream to soothe and protect your infant’s skin. Organic raw coconut oil creates a protective barrier against moisture loss, while organic aloe vera inner leaf gel nourishes and hydrates dry skin.

  102. The arts teach children that in some areas, purposes change with circumstance and opportunity. Whereas the beginning dancer is learning simple heel-toe steps, in time that dancer could be learning the steps of a prima ballerina. The beginning musician is trying to master “Chopsticks” but the more mature pianist is working on a Beethoven sonata. The child draws stick people, but the mature artist paints beautiful landscapes.

In looking at a variety of paintings, people are depicted not only realistically, but sometimes as flat figures, or with elongated or oddly shaped figures, or red, green, blue or yellow in color. No matter how people are depicted, we still understand that the figure is a person.

  105. In recent years more parents are taking an interest in purchasing organic products. I have noticed an increasing number of people at the organic markets where I regularly shop on Sunday. The market has become very busy compared to a couple of years ago and the number of stalls is growing. For many, the interest in organic food has extended to other organic items, particularly skin care products, soaps, household cleaners and baby clothing.
The main reason for most parents choosing to buy organic baby products is for the safety and health of their infant. However, another very important reason for choosing organic products is for the safety of the planet. Already our streams and oceans are becoming polluted from pesticides and fungicides used in commercial farming. As an example of this, it is no longer safe to eat large ocean fish such as tuna due to the toxic amount of mercury you may ingest. Another important consideration is the harmful gases and fumes released into the environment as non-biodegradable materials decompose. Babies’ disposable diapers pose one of the biggest impacts of baby products to the environment as they decompose. Fortunately eco-friendly companies have started producing unbleached, biodegradable and chemical free disposable baby diapers. However it may be some time before people are educated to choose these over the non-biodegradable brands.
There are now many websites offering organic baby clothing, toys, skin care and other products. Organic cotton, hemp and bamboo are soft and safe fabrics and there are now many interesting styles and colors used in the organic baby clothing range. At Naturebub, http://www.naturebub.com we offer a stylish selection of organic baby clothing, safe skin-care products, soft cuddly toys and accessories.

  106. Being involved in the arts helps children have experiences they can have through no other source. Acting the part of a character in a play can give a child a feeling of being a part of a whole, and give him self confidence from doing his share. Being a part of a band or orchestra helps a child to feel she is part of a community. Producing a painting gives her the satisfaction of accomplishment, feelings of self worth and self confidence. Through these experiences children discover the range and variety of feelings of which they are capable.

Landscape paintings are an introduction into the art genre. They can help the child put himself in wonderful familiar fantasies such as Hansel and Gretel, Red Riding Hood, etc, and play the part of one of the characters or be her own character in the play.

A baby hat is an essential item and has the added benefit that less sun cream need be used on the baby’s face, without risking the discomfort and damage caused by sunburn. Infants usually try to remove their hats, so it is also useful if the hat can be secured.
Commercial cotton may contain chemicals and toxins that irritate an infant’s skin or respiratory system. Pure organic cotton is an ideal choice for any baby item, especially clothing in direct contact with the baby’s skin as organic contains no nasty chemicals and allows the skin to breathe.

  111. When a child is creating a painting, the important part is the feelings and actions of the child - not the final appearance of the painting. If you put a child in front of an easel with 3 or 4 colors of tempera paint, he might use one color, or create a very colorful, original painting! He might paint with his hands rather than the brush given to him. He might feel the painting. Doing what he wants to do gives him feelings of happiness, control and self worth. It could even relieve frustrations and help to work out problems. It is important to have art in a child’s bedroom where he can pursue his fantasy dreams.

  112. I love muslin wraps. They are so soft and light, easily washable and can be used in a variety of ways: keeping your baby snug and cozy, as a cover to shield your baby from the sun in a pram, or just to throw over a rug on the floor or bed to provide a softer place for your baby to lie and also to protect the rugs or bedding.
Infants have such delicate skin so you do not want to expose them to anything toxic. Wraps almost completely enclose the baby, or an infant may clutch their soft wrap and put it in their mouth. So a baby wrap needs to be made from a completely safe fabric such as all-natural organic cotton.

  113. Parents and primary caregivers play a vital role in children’s early education. Parents are the central figures in the lives of their children, as they are the heart of their children’s universe. Children who spend time in the arts are more likely to be recognized for academic scholarship, elected to class offices, or win an award for school attendance, writing an essay or poem. Getting children interested in art at an early age is essential to their development into happy and productive adults.

Exposure to paintings and other wall art is a good beginning. Everyone relates to landscape paintings and the joys of being out of doors.

At Mary’s Art, Inc, we have original hand painted oil paintings on canvas. These colorful, affordable paintings were created en plein air (French for “open air”) in order to capture the emotions of nature and bring them to you. They are somewhat abstract, contemporary in style, and with overtones of expressionism. Please visit http://www.murphyartstudio.com and find paintings your whole family will enjoy.

  114. Booties are a cute item in a baby’s wardrobe. Baby booties are also very useful, especially for overnight and in cooler weather. At night, infants tend to wriggle out of their covers and expose their feet. So, unless babies are dressed in a onesie with feet, or a sleeping suit, a pair of booties will be the best thing to keep their feet warm. Wearing booties also means that your infant can wear stylish clothing and dresses during the day without exposing baby’s feet to the cold.
Since babies are sensitive and delicate it is wise to protect them from chemicals and toxins as much as possible. Doing so will remove the risk of their getting skin irritations and breathing difficulties. The best way of doing this is to use organic and natural materials for their clothes, bedding and toys.
All-natural organic cotton which is completely chemical-free, is an excellent choice for booties. At Naturebub you will find some cute booties in pale pink and green stripe with soft ties to help keep them on. 115. What makes your child’s room truly his/her own are the decorations you add. Choosing the type of wall art that is inspiring to your child is most important. Paintings that are colorful and happy and appealing to everyone in the home are ideal.

Landscape paintings are a wonderful choice because everyone relates to the out-of-doors. Children especially enjoy playing and being outside in the fresh air and sunshine.

  116. When we have a newborn baby we want to keep it as content and safe as possible. We know that newborn babies are ultra-sensitive, as up until birth, they have had a safe, chemical-free environment. Immediately exposing a newborn baby to chemicals is taking a risk, as you do not know what your infant may become allergic to. These chemicals may cause skin irritations and affect the respiratory system. Babies may gradually develop some immunity to these foreign substances, but initially it is far better to provide as safe an environment for them as possible.
Completely avoiding the use of chemicals in your baby’s environment is one of the best way to protect your baby: clothing, bedding, washing powders, skin care lotions and any other substance they are exposed to. Choosing organic cotton for your baby’s clothing and bedding is one very good way of providing this protection. All-natural organic cotton clothing is completely chemical-free and safe for your infant, it allows the skin to breathe and, because it is high quality, it will endure frequent washings.

At Naturebub online store, we offer a selection of all-natural organic clothing that is very useful and practical for newborn babies. We have lovely organic baby bodysuits and leggings. This all-natural organic cotton clothing is designed for comfort and style as well as being beautifully soft and safe for your infant. Also check the Gifts and Toys page for soft muslin wraps, booties and organic cotton toys. For other organic baby and children’s clothing, visit http://www.naturebub.com.

  120. Here in Brisbane, Australia we are unusually restricted, in the middle of summer, due to unusually high rainfall and severe flooding. However many places are having, what seems from afar, to be a particularly cold winter with movement restricted due to heavy snow and ice. Having enough warm clothes changes for infants may be an ongoing problem for some.
A good supply of comfortable, durable baby pants is a must. Baby pants especially, are so often soiled by a wet or leaking nappy, and, as your infant grows and becomes more mobile, baby pants need to be more durable to stand the wear and tear of a crawling infant. Dampness from nappies or behind the knees may irritate an infant’s delicate skin. Chemical-free organic cotton baby pants are safe for your infant and of such good quality that they will remain snugly and soft against your baby’s skin. Another very useful item of baby clothing for cold winter days is an all natural baby onesie. It fits baby so snugly that it can be worn under other clothing for extra warmth. Organic cotton onesies provide warmth without any danger of irritation to baby’s skin.
We at Naturebub, offer a range of all natural infant’s comfortable pants, beautifully soft and snuggly. You can see more details about these 100% natural, organic and safe pants at http://www.naturebub.com/babypants

  122. Quality Children Furniture that will endure for generations!

Furniture that is made for a child’s room doesn’t have to be of the knock-down variety that will crack and break the first time your kids decide to host a wrestling match on it. While it is true that kids can be especially hard on furniture, there are some great options out there that are as tough as your kids. If you just want to buy one set of quality furniture and then pass it on to the generations that follow, consider buying quality pieces when you furnish your child’s room.

    Toy Chests

A high quality wooden toy chest is a great investment. You know that your kids are going to climb on, jump off, and jump over the toy box. Why buy a cheap plastic one that will fall apart in just a few months? Go ahead and invest a toy chest that will last. When the first child is done with it, you will be able to repaint it and pass it on to the next. Make sure that the toy chest has well-crafted joints and heavy-duty hinges for the lid. As long as these parts are solid, then there is no reason why you should ever have to buy another toy chest.

    Table/Chairs

Whether you are looking for a place for your child to sit and do homework or a place for a little girl to sit and play dress up, there are some beautifully crafted pieces of children’s furniture available. While you may have to take some time to educate your kids about the proper uses for chairs and tables and how to take care of the furniture, these pieces can do quite a bit to enhance the look and ambiance of a child’s room. These pieces, like toy chests, can become heirlooms that are passed on from one generation to the next. When well constructed, there is no reason why children’s furniture shouldn’t last longer than you do. If you question the value of this type of investment, spend some time at an estate auction and see just how much pieces like this sell for once they have been around for a few generations.

    Rocking Chairs

Why is a child’s rocking chairs so memorable and desired to be kept by millions of adults? Some people keep them as an heirloom to hand down to their kids and grand kids for generations to come.

There has always been something special about sitting on a front porch or inside a living room rocking away the hours with other loved ones. Giving a gift like a child’s rocking chair allows people to hand down a family heritage of sentimental feeling.

One of the reasons that these chairs become a part of family culture is what I call the “motion syndrome.” We all know that most children love some type of motion. This is why newborn babies fall asleep in the arms of their rocking mother and is also why children of all ages fall fast asleep in a moving vehicle. Being able to relax while rocking back and forth is something we learn from the very first days of our existence. It carries on into our adulthoods and becomes a part of our innate nature within us. I believe that this motion syndrome is what causes us to somehow put a child’s rocking chair into the recesses of our minds as an icon of peacefulness.

Pictures should be colorful and cheery and reach the emotions of children. The topic needs to be something with which the child can relate so that they can imagine themselves in the picture.

  128. Our skin, the body’s largest organ and it is the most absorbent. You put on a cream and it is absorbed by the skin, a piece of clothing can contain formaldehyde resins, fine metallic dust particles, oils, pesticides, grease, coal or tar. Allergies can become a factor due to these irritants on the skin and most importantly on a baby’s sensitive skin. Eczema type lesions or redness and itching can occur. This can be very uncomfortable and harmful.
Organic Cotton Clothes are grown without the use of toxic and persistent pesticides and synthetic fertilizers. Doesn’t that give you piece of mind when dressing your baby knowing that what is touching their precious skin is free from these harmful irritants and will not be absorbed by their tender skin.
At Baby Maya we sell only Organic Cotton in our baby clothes because we believe your baby deserves only the very best and is the most important reflection of your beliefs.

  129. For those cold winter nights, your child will feel warm in snug fitting pajamas. Clothing, such as long johns, that fits close to the skin provides the best protection from cold. Long johns are also very useful for layering under day clothing or other pajamas in cold climates. So if you are coming into winter or about to travel to a colder destination, this may be an ideal solution to protect your child from the winter chills.
Because long johns are in direct contact with the skin and cover a majority of your child’s body, it is important that they are made from all-natural organic fabric. Conventional cotton fabrics have unnatural chemicals such as pesticides and dyes, and can cause skin irritations and rashes in a sensitive child. Organic cotton fabrics are high quality and durable, as well as being safe and comfortable for your child. They are also very soft and lovely to wear.
We offer kids long johns/pajamas in medium weight rib knit, in sizes 2 - 6. The rib knit is stretchy, so it does not feel tight and the pants have a soft elastic waist band. The style is in color grown natural, so no toxic dyes have been used. You can see more details about these 100% natural, organic and safe pajamas at http://www.naturebub.com/pyjamas.

  130. Kids require their own furniture just like you require your own. You should provide your children with incredibly functional things like kid’s rockers, chairs, tables and desks that can be useful to them throughout their growing years rather than just a simple toy. Kids’ furniture is consistently popular with a wide variety and novelty in color options and provides kids with a deeper sense of personalization.

One of the most handed-down bits of kid’s furniture are small wooden rocking chairs built for children. It’s a piece of memory, a happy spot where children spend hours at a time reading a book or just cuddling with their favorite toy.

Go into any doctor’s office, preschool reading room and day care center and if they have a small wooden rocker, there’s a good chance there’s a little kid in it just rocking away. There’s just something about them that is really soothing to the little ones. The reason could be that, as a kid, everything is big and made for adults. How often do you see a kid in an adult-sized rocking chair? Cute, but not very comfortable!

Young minds tend to interact and associate themselves with their products, therefore the kids’ rockers is considered ideal and enjoyable toys and furniture that creates lively imagination providing fun packed experience to your child each day. Kid’s Rockers are ideal fun toys for your children because the sturdy arms of chair assures safety and back covered in tough vinyl helps in easy maintenance and cleaning.

Seeing a rocking chair that’s built just for them, the look in their kid’s eyes is precious. The rocking motion of a rocking chair makes a way for them to release there pent up energy while they sit. Kids simply love them.

Shopping for a kid chair can almost be as fun as presenting it to your child. The variety and styles now available can inspire you to design your playroom around the rocker, and not the other way around. Kid’s rocking chairs come in a wide variety of colors and styles to suit just about any décor, whether the kid rocker is part of a family room or part of a large playroom.

When looking for a child sized rocking chair, find one that will stand the test of time and make certain it is a quality item made of real wood. Whether you want a plain, old-fashioned kid rocker or one that is painted, quality is the main consideration.

Any kid’s rocker, whether it’s in a doctor’s office, preschool reading room or in your home, needs to last. A good quality wooden kid’s rocking chair can be handed down to the next generation, producing even more wonderful childhood memories.

Why not come and visit us at Amish Furniture Crafts and check out our large selection of handmade kid’s rocking chairs by a local Amish Craftsman.

  133. HOW DO I GET MY KIDS TO ‘WANT’ TO GO TO BED?

A cold bed may be a contributing reason for a child not wanting to go to bed at night, even in warmer months, since many often over-cool a house with air conditioning. When getting into a cold bed, a child’s body tenses up and shivers until their own body-heat finally kicks in and warms their bed. That can take up to 30 minutes depending on how cold the house is and how small the body trying to warm up is. For children, it’s a long time.

Many parents give up the fight and fuss and begin allowing their children to cuddle up in bed with them before taking them to their own beds. This is an unhealthy habit that is hard for a child to break, not to mention bringing parents to a frazzle, who lose sleep as result.

So how can we make it inviting for our child to get into their own bed? Answer: Warm it up. A warm bed is inviting and allows a child’s body to quickly relax and fall asleep. To create a warm bed we have several options. We can pile on more or heavy blankets, which may feel great for them at first, but later awaken a child when they become overheated. Pre-heating a bed with an electric blanket is another option, though this also leads to overheating and some consider the electricity costly and dangerous, especially to children.

A great, safe and inexpensive solution to make your kids look forward to bed time is to warm up their bed with a special heatable Snuggables stuffed animal that they’ll want to snuggle up with as well. What an awesome idea for toddlers! And they won’t out grow it.

Snuggables specializes in carrying a variety of adorable stuffed animals that heat up. Use them to pre-warm your child’s bed at night and provide a warm and loveable friend that your child will love to cuddle up with, allowing Mom and Dad to say goodnight without the fight or fuss. Made of the softest and highest quality furs, Snuggables take only 1-2 minutes to warm up in the microwave and they stay warm for 20 minutes or more. Your child will look forward to going to bed and you’ll sleep like a baby again too, just knowing they’re content. Keep extras Snuggables on hand for one-of-a-kind gifts for your friends! http://www.snuggables.net

  136. Babies have a tendency to get rashes or skin irritations because they have such fine, delicate skin. Wet or soiled nappies often cause quite red patches which can be painful for a little baby. 139. The magic of a well designed Kid’s playroom!

The playroom indicates a place of enjoyment, cheerfulness and well-being for any youngster. Designing your kid’s room is often very easy and fun, if you understand how to accomplish it. What children home furniture should you opt for? What color should the wall surfaces be? With a little planning, you will be able to create an amazing area, where your child will really enjoy too spend a lot of their time, having lots of fun.

The first thing you need to decide on is what household furniture you want to have within the game room. It’s very essential to include some youngster’s furniture made specifically for children. Kid’s tables and chairs, a rocking horse, a youngster stool or perhaps a beanbag and a few tiny cubicle cabinets are all excellent examples for kid’s household furniture. This is since they are produced for the sizing of kids.

When looking for pieces of kid’s furniture, select only the products that are of excellent quality. Do not pay for inexpensive objects which are likely to break and injure your little one.
Typically, you are able to come across good, top quality home furniture for kids at realistic rates.

When you are looking at the game room walls, it is genuinely only a question of personal tastes. You could decide on whatever color you like, nevertheless it ultimately should be that it is not too darkish. You want your kids’ playroom to seem enticing with lively and vivid colors which build a calming and joyful environment. Otherwise you might you might want to use tapestries or perhaps murals. Paintings are wonderful for creating the magical atmosphere and look, you need for your child’s playroom.

Another essential issue in a game room is the toys. In the end, what is a play room without playthings? Hence, when you look for games, you should opt for the ones which can be secure, hilarious as well as entertaining. Do not neglect to examine a few informative games that develop your kid’s ingenuity. Those tend to be really good as they broaden the child’s imagination

  140. Now that the weather is getting cooler you may be looking for something cozy and warm for your baby. A baby’s skin is delicate, and far more sensitive than that of an adult and we know that babies are prone to rashes and skin irritations. Non-organic cotton fabrics contain pesticides and chemicals. Exposing baby’s skin to these toxins can contribute to skin allergies and rashes. Clothes for cooler weather not only cover a wider area of baby’s skin but also need to fit closely to provider more warmth, so avoiding these harmful fabrics will help ensure that your infant does not have to suffer the discomfort of skin problems.
Organic cotton is 100% chemical free and thus is completely pure and safe for your infant. This will make for a healthier and happier baby, and will also benefit the environment by protecting the streams, lakes and oceans where the chemicals used in farming invariably end up. It is also beneficial to use safe laundry detergents that do not contain chemicals and artificial fragrances as these can also cause skin and respiratory problems. Using organic cotton fabrics will give you the piece of mind that you are doing your best to protect your infant’s skin and health.
Our organic baby clothing online store at http://www.naturebub.com has a variety of cute onesies that will help provide warmth for cooler weather. The bodysuits with mittens can be teemed with a snuggly soft sleepsuit to provide extra protection from the cold, especially for overnight when babies often crawl out of their bedcovers.

  142. What is organic? It is the avoidance of most synthetic chemical inputs (e.g. fertilizer, pesticides, antibiotics, food additives, etc), genetically modified organisms, irradiation, and the use of sewage sludge. Organic cotton is grown without any of these and goes through strict enforcement through the USDA to ensure that all guidelines and criteria are met when labeling anything organic. Isn’t it reassuring to know that your delicate baby’s skin is not being touched by anything synthetic and that the material is all natural and certified organic. At Baby Maya
the clothes that we sell are all made from 100% organic cotton and are very soft for your baby’s skin. One of the most common pieces of clothing that touch your baby’s skin are Organic Onesies. These usually act as an undergarment in winter for extra warmth or worn alone in the summertime. Be sure to check out our onesies with many cute designs to choose from at http://www.Baby-Maya.com

  143. Diaper Rash. All babies experience it and we can only imagine that it is painful. The rash that is a common form of inflamed skin (dermatitis) that appears as a patchwork of bright red skin on your baby’s bottom. Diaper rash is linked to continuously wet or infrequently changed diapers, diarrhea, and using plastic pants to cover diapers. Diaper rash also may develop after solid foods are added to your baby’s diet or when breast-feeding mothers eat certain foods. Diaper rash can be easily resolved with creams that act as barriers to your babies bottoms. Some creams contain harsh chemicals or mineral based oils. Earth Baby has an organic Diaper Rash Cream that is an all natural zinc based cream which soothes and comforts irritated skin. At Baby Maya we offer this amazing diaper rash cream along with other great organic baby lotions and bath products along with organic baby clothes. We are certain that you will be pleased with the products and customer service that you will receive when shopping at http://www.baby-maya.com.

  144. We all know that babies go through lots of pants. Baby pants are so often soiled by a wet or leaking nappy, and, as your infant grows and becomes more mobile, baby pants need to be more durable to stand the wear and tear of a crawling infant. The skin of babies is more sensitive than that of adults and can easily absorb the toxic chemicals from fabrics that are grown and manufactured using conventional methods, especially in delicate areas behind the knees or in the creases at the tops of the legs, even more so when the skin is warm and damp. This groin area is often damp and prone to rashes, which can make your infant irritable and uncomfortable. We really want to protect our babies and keep them as comfortable and happy as possible. Using organically produced cotton is one way of doing this and ensuring that your infant will not be absorbing nasty chemicals, and the risk of your infant having painful rashes is considerably reduced. Fabrics produced from organic cotton are high-quality and will withstand the repeated washings needed for baby clothing, and will usually outlast that produced from non-organic cotton. This means that investing in organic cotton apparel for your baby is also cost-effective. We, at Naturebub online store have a variety of styles of organic baby pants at reasonable prices - cute and funky monkey pants and soft elf pants from Sckoon, and comfortable leggings and tracksuit pants for greater wear and tear from the Australian company Pure Baby. Our organic cotton pants are very soft and comfortable and will not only help keep your baby healthy, but will also help protect the environment so that the earth is a safer place to live for future generations. This eco-friendly baby apparel from 100% pure organic Egyptian cotton is completely chemical-free and safe.

  145. We know that baby tops often need changing, maybe even several times a day. Dribbling, or burping up milk after their feed causes damp patches on the fabric, and sometimes when they are too warm the baby tops may get damp under the arms or on the back or front depending how they are lying. The skin of infants is more delicate and sensitive that adult skin, and so it more easily absorbs chemicals from fabric close to the skin, especially when the fabric is damp. Fabrics from conventional cotton farming contain toxins used in the growing of cotton and chemicals from the manufacturing processes. Some of these are not easily removed by repeated washings. So we do not want to expose baby’s delicate skin to these toxins. Organic cotton crops are farmed using sustainable farming methods without the use of pesticides and herbicides such that the cotton produced is cleaner and healthier. This also ensures that the environment is protected for our children and future generations. Fabrics produced from organic cotton are high-quality and will withstand the repeated washings needed for baby clothing, and will usually outlast that produced from non-organic cotton.
Our all-natural organic cotton baby t shirts are made from soft, gentle and completely safe fabrics. You will find quite reasonable online prices on our organic cotton t-shirts. The Sckoon organic tees can be paired with the monkey pants for a cute baby outfit. These organic baby tees also make great gifts for any baby shower.

  146. We all know that premature babies have special needs. Their organs, especially lungs, have not fully developed the protection they need after birth and their tiny bodies are not equipped to cope with toxins and chemicals. For this reason it is extremely important that we provide a safe environment for a preemie baby where they will be shielded from toxins and chemicals that can cause respiratory distress or painful skin irritations and rashes.
Using all-natural organic cotton products is the best possible way of protecting your premature baby from close contact with toxic chemicals. You can then be sure that you are doing your best to prevent skins irritations that can be caused by chemicals in the fabric. All-natural organic cotton products are completely safe for a preemie baby, and not only that, they are beautifully soft and comfortable.
Our preemie baby clothes are made of 100% organic cotton. You will find high quality kimono bodysuits, a lovely soft organic cotton jersey tee and a small soft cap to protect baby’s head. A preemie baby will feel comforted and safe in a soft muslin wrap or a soft organic cotton jersey swaddle. Premature infant clothes also make an appreciated gift for a newborn baby. It may seem expensive to purchase clothing that can only be used for a few weeks but for that special new baby photo it would be nice to have clothing that fitted well, as we tend to buy baby clothing that will last a few months at least which means that initially, the clothing is a little large.

  147. Do you like art that is playful? The Chorus Line is a bright, colorful oil painting of 7 trees in a row, with each tree trunk painted a different color of the rainbow - pure whimsy! It was painted at Wild Acres, a wonderful place near the Smoky Mountains and Blue Ridge Parkway where July is cool when the rest of the world is sweltering.

Children would love the different colors and the playful style of the painting. A parent could also use the painting as a way to teach colors, size, distance (closer, further, higher, lower). Come, view this painting and see if it is right for your family.

  156. Why Solid Wooden Furniture is a great investment for Children Furniture:

The last few years have seen the emergence of a new category of furniture, termed as ‘children’s furniture.’ For the most part, this is furniture that is meant to be used in children rooms at home and in classrooms. As we all know, the furniture that is meant for use by adults is often rather uncomfortable, and sometimes even risky, for kid’s use.

Solid Wooden Furniture is a great investment for Children Furniture, if quality is a priority. Since the furniture is made of a solid wood, it will stay looking nice for a very long time as well as stand up to the roughness of most any child. There is a big range of children’s furniture to choose from including desks, toy chests, tables with chairs, book shelves, and the famous rocking horse.

A lot of these items can be found in most retail stores; however you won’t find the same quality products as you will purchasing wooden furniture. Most of these items manufactured today are commercialized, with the cartoon characters our children love plastered all over them in an effort to help them sale. They are too often made of particle board and plastics. In addition, they are often over priced and of very poor quality.

So what, indeed, goes into the making of good children’s furniture?
One of the most important things that go into the making of good children’s furniture is, arguably, resilience. Good quality children’s furniture should be able to withstand the inevitable rough housing it will be subjected to by its youthful users. If you buy the sort of furniture that is very sensitive to knocking and pulling, the sort of furniture that falls apart on first instance of being subjected to a little rough housing, then you have only yourself to blame for having to replace it within what may seem to be a very short life span for the piece.

A good quality piece of children’s wooden furniture should withstand time and the elements of childhood. Witch often become family heirlooms passed on from one generation to another. It is not uncommon to find wooden furniture with a lot names and dates written on the bottom showing the history of passing it on over the years. As time goes on and the color begins to fade, it is easy to refinish them, giving many more years of life to pieces of wooden furniture. Be assured your investment will pay for itself over and over again as time goes by.

When buying a good quality piece of furniture you should keep in mind that it should be comfortable to use for the intended users. Height comfort is a big issue with children so they won’t have to struggle too hoist themselves into said piece of furniture. Also adequate padding is a plus.

Come visit us at Amish Furniture Crafts and check out our nice selection of handmade Solid Wooden Furniture that is handcrafted by Amish Craftsman.

  157. Use a Rocking Chair to relive Stress in your Children:

The rocking motion of a child’s rocking chair can be a big stress reliever in your children. Yes, your child can be stressed out by you lieveing them to go run errands and leaving them behind with the baby sitter or with older siblings. They could be pressured by the demands to eat there vegetables or stop bedwetting. If you notice them reverting to thumb sucking, nose-picking, and hair twirling, that’s probly a good sign that they are stressed.

With a little kid’s rocking chair, they can relax and get relief:

A rocking chair will also give them new sensations in motion. This will be a learning experience, like the first time she took the swing on your lap. With a kids rocking chair, it is safer and they can sit themselves on it without much assistance from you. They can use the same chair while leafing through their books, draw pictures or play “grandma.” But the best thing of all is feeling being gently rocked as you have rocked them to sleep hundreds of times.

    Behavior Signs of a Stressed out Child;

Little children do not understand what’s going on when they are worried about mom’s coming later than usual or Dad’s implicit instructions not to disturb him when he’s busy. Even a change to the big bed can be an earth shattering event when children are so attached to their cribs.

Worry and anger can erupt in unusual behavior such as not wanting to spend time with other kids, suffer frequent headaches and stomach aches. Changes in sleeping patterns, soiling and bedwetting are also symptoms of stress. You might observe their fear of loud noises, tantrums, nightmares or wakefulness at night, these should alert you to your child’s emotional state.

    Reaching out to a Stressed Child;

Rocking them can help if they are old enough. The small rocking chair should be comfortable, durable, and pretty of course. You can rock in yours while they rocks in harmony with your pace. This relaxing exercise can be a game and they will look forward to rocking in their rocking chair.

This ritual can be a happy one for both of you. Those quiet moments of bonding will assure them that there’s someone who has the time for them and who is ready to listen to them, go over the coloring books with them while they rock and have fun with their art and books. The kid’s rocking chair will have happy associations for them when they are fully grown.

Here at Amish Furniture Crafts we carry a large selection of very high quality Amish Wooden handmade Child’s Rocking Chairs.

  161. Summer days can be very hot and uncomfortable for little infants, so if you are looking for a cool, easy to wear outfit for your baby for warm weather, you cannot go past a baby romper suit for comfort and practicality. A romper is especially practical for a baby in the crawling stage or learning to walk as it gives freedom of movement without any bits of clothing that may get in the way, great for at home, on the beach or for playing outdoors. With back straps to keep it in place and studs to snap on and off, the Lapsaky organic cotton sunsuit is ideal for hot days. These rompers have also been embellished with cute embroidery patches. They are lovely and roomy to go over a diaper, and the all-natural organic cotton assists in better air circulation on the baby’s skin and helps maintain a suitable body temperature. Using organic cotton will also protect the baby’s sensitive skin from skin irritation or rashes, as there are no toxic substances in the fabric. Organic cotton growing and production is environmentally friendly so using organic cotton for your infant will also support the farmers who are helping to protect the environment by using sustainable farming methods.
In the slightly cooler evenings the romper can be teamed with a lovely soft organic cotton tee. These are also ideal for the warmer weather and are currently on sale at the online store Naturebub.

  163. Choosing the right table & chairs for your child!

The first set of furniture most people will buy for their toddler is a kids table with chairs. The table may be for the child’s room, the play area, or the informal dining area. Having chairs that are just a child’s size is especially important since it helps to establish good posture and, if properly designed, provide good spinal column support. After back support, one must consider safety next. All kids will climb and stand on the furniture. Important factor is, to prepare oneself and plan ahead to reduce the chance of injury.

Select a form of construction and sturdiness of material that will not allow the table or chairs to collapse when one’s child uses it as a trampoline. Assure that the back of the chair conforms to the profile of the child’s back and aligns her spine in a neutral position. Once the solid construction of the kids furniture is assured, you might want to concentrate on selecting the style of the kids table and chairs to match your décor. Whatever theme you have chosen for your home, there will be a kids table and chairs set available to match.

It is good to compare products for quality, and style. The tables may be round, oval, rectangular, square. The accompanying chairs will be of nearly every style one might expect with a full-sized dinette set. It will be easy to get over-whelmed. Be wary of the least expensive tables: it likely will be a bad investment. Often these will not be durable and will break when the kids start climbing on them. It is not worth the risk of an injury to save a few dollars on the purchase price.

The kids table and chairs can become a great activity center as well as the setting for lunch with their friends. Give them some paper and crayons or play dough and some cookie cutters, and they can easily spend time creating refrigerator art while you are doing your household chores. With the kids table and chairs in their room, it provides the perfect setting for an afternoon tea party for one’s child and her friends or dolls.

  164. In Australia, we are coming into winter, and we are faced with the problems of keeping our babies and children warm.
We all know that babies have a tendency to get out of their bedcovers. How often have you found your infant asleep in bed all bed covers somehow kicked off? This is a problem, especially on cold nights, as it may cause chills or colds, which we really want to protect our babies from.
A perfect solution for this on those cold nights is a
cozy sleepsuit. A sleepsuit goes over baby’s pajamas and stays put.
Babies spend a long time in bed so it is best that their clothes and bedding do not contain any harmful chemicals or toxins, which can be absorbed through the skin or lungs.
You can help your baby sleep through the night, warm, safe and snug, in a lovely soft 100% certified organic cotton sleepsuit from Pure Baby. This baby sleeping suit has an extra long body and an elastic hem for easy nappy change, and it is machine washable.

  165. Being able to paint whatever he/she likes and then, no matter what, be told that it is beautiful is so empowering to a child. It gives them the power to create. When asked to paint a dog (or cat, etc,) very often a child will say, “I can’t”, but when asked to tell about the picture he just created, you might find that he/she included a dog because all the objects in the painting are important to him/her.

Oil paintings at Murphy art Studio are brightly colored and whimsical, the kind to which children relate. Please stop by and find one that is just right for your children.

  166. We all want our baby to be as comfortable as possible and it’s sometimes difficult to keep infants well-covered and warm. Shirts, singlets or dresses may creep up exposing the tummy or back, and pants may slip down a little. An older baby may move around a lot in bed and get its clothing all askew.
Whether dressing your baby for bed, or for daytime, baby onesies are extremely useful. Not only do they make it easy for changing diapers, they also help keep the diaper in place. Also these baby body suits help prevent chills, as the infant’s tummy and back do not get exposed to the cold. There is the added advantage that it is much easier to hold an infant wearing a baby one piece, as you don’t have to continually pull down its shirt or dress, or adjust its pants and diaper. A baby onesie can also be worn as a shirt or singlet with pants or a skirt, or just under other clothing for extra warmth.
When shopping for infant apparel, you may consider purchasing all
natural and organic baby clothing, as you can then be assured that the clothing will be pure and safe for your baby. NatureBub have lovely, soft kimono onesies and zip growsuits from the gorgeous Australian brand Pure Baby, cute designer kimono onesies for preemie babies from Sckoon, one piece baby rompers from Lapsaky and also singlet body suits for warmer weather, all in pure soft organic cotton.

  167. What to look for in finding the right high chair for your Child.

Let’s face it, looking and sorting through all the high chairs available can be a bit overwhelming. Two things that you want to consider before making a decision is safety and life span. Most units come standard with straps to secure the baby and a removable tray. Some come with cushions while others are solid wood.

No matter how fashionable or comfortable a high chair is, the first thing a baby wants to do is get out! If you’ve never had the joy of seeing a baby try to stand up, or slip under the tray to escape you’re missing out on an electric experience. Many parents tend to buy high chairs lined with toys in hopes to keep the little one entertained when mom is busy. The truth of the matter is most babies lose interest within a short time.

The best high chair is the one that allows your baby to be part of the family and allows them to use the table just like you. A tired and frustrated baby away from the table will often throw their food on the ground to gain attention. The closer a baby is to their parents the better behaved they will be. They will be happier and learn how to act at the dinner table at the same time.

Remember that children grow out of high chairs as young as 1 and as old as 4. Make sure when you decide to buy a high chair you don’t buy the smallest one. Most come standard to last until the child is 3 years old by using different adjustments. It doesn’t make sense to buy a high chair for your child that only lasts a short time and has to be by a booster seat that is uncomfortable for them.

  168. You may be looking for something safe and gentle to protect your baby’s skin from nappy rash and redness. A baby’s skin is very sensitive and sometimes, especially where it is in contact with a wet diaper, can get irritated, chafed, sore and red.
Many baby skin care products on the market contain mineral oils and synthetic chemicals. Mineral oils clog the pores and interfere with the skins ability to eliminate toxins. Mineral oils may also be absorbed into the body through the skin and hinder the absorption of dietary minerals by competing with minerals supplied in the infant’s milk and food. This can cause deficiencies in essential minerals needed by your baby. Chemicals absorbed through the skin have adverse affects on the health of the infant. You really do not want your infant to develop baby eczema, as the common medical treatment is cortisone cream, which may have long-lasting bad affects on the health of your baby.
So it is wise to find safe and gentle baby products that are all natural and do not contain mineral oils or toxic chemicals. Nappies made with organically produced materials will reduce the problem of nappy rash, but due to the constant moisture in the nappy area it would be beneficial to use a protective barrier cream when there is redness or chafing.
NatureBub has a natural organic baby lotion that will protect baby’s most delicate skin, gentle enough for newborns. For extra protection when there is redness and chafing, the all natural Baby Barrier Balm provides protection from moisture, soothes irritated skin and calms redness.
For a range of toxic free, organic natural baby care products visit http://www.naturebub.com/skincare.

  169. Although pregnancy and the anticipation of a new baby is a very joyful experience, there is also possibly some concern about the effects of the pregnancy on your body. The skin on your body needs to expand in various places, especially the belly and breast, and this can cause unsightly stretch marks. Not everyone is susceptible to pregnancy stretch marks, and although genetics is a definite factor, there are various ways to help prevent stretch marks during pregnancy. Poor skin elasticity is a primary cause of stretch marks, so improving skin elasticity will reduce or prevent these scars.
Skin elasticity can be improved by pregnancy diet, vitamins, moisturizers and creams, and by drinking sufficient water to hydrate the skin. Eating a variety of fruit and vegetables, especially raw, will provider the body with essential nutrients and vitamins. Vitamins E, C, silica and zinc benefit the skin and improve skin elasticity. It is also beneficial to apply daily, skin lotions, oils or creams that lubricate the skin and help support the skin while growing.
There are many skin products especially formulated for stretch mark prevention. In choosing your oil or moisturizer, it is very important to read the labels and check that the product is safe for you and your new baby, as many products contain synthetic chemicals and toxic ingredients. Anything applied to the skin is easily absorbed into the body, so during pregnancy, you only want to use pure and safe products.
You will find an excellent all natural and organic pregnancy skin care product at our website http://www.naturebub.com/formama. Belly and Breast Balm is rich with nutrients to feed your growing skin.

She recently found the toe shoes she had earned as a teen and was so excited. But if she wouldn’t have had the dreams, she wouldn’t have made it into those toe shoes.
When she was young, they didn’t have a lot of the specialty sheets that they do now. But we do have specialty sheets now, so let that ballerina go to sleep every night on ballernia sheets that will keep her dreams alive. 171. The birth of the Piggy Bank

For many people, it will have occurred at some point in your lifetime where you will have owned a piggy bank. Even as adults, some people retain that love of piggy banks they had as a child and continue to save a few odd coins in one.

But how did piggy banks first begin life, and why are they called by this affectionate sounding name?

The origin dates back to the 1400s, when people were regularly making pots, bowls and other receptacles out of clay. But, there was more than one different type of clay, and one of these was known by the name ‘pygg’. It was frequently used to make dishes and similar items from; purely because it was one of the cheapest materials around for this use. The clay was of an orange color, and many people kept a pygg jar, as they were called, to throw odd coins into.

As time went on, people found new methods and materials for creating these jars. But while pygg clay eventually stopped being used, the idea of having a jar with a slot for putting money into didn’t.

And, of course as we know today, the name pygg ended up transforming itself into pig. More and more of these money jars ended up being shaped as pigs, although no one seems to know quite how or why this started. It is thought that it could have been down to a simple error in the understanding of the word, seeing as they both sound the same when said aloud.

Of course, the design has changed somewhat over the years, with the original designs being made as a hollow pig with a slot for the money to go in. Today there are many designs!

There’s no doubt that the piggy bank helps play an important role in teaching young children about savings. Instilling good savings habits at a young age sets children up for their future, and encourages regular saving.

So, the next time you see your child pop some coins into their own piggy bank think back to the origins of this tradition and remember how it all started, hundreds of years ago.

Come visit Amish Furniture Crafts and see the Amish handmade piggy banks we have to offer.

  172. Why wooden Children’s Furniture is the best choice

Admittedly, choosing room furniture for your children’s playrooms and bedrooms is a matter of choice. With the variety of choices out there - plastic or wood, natural or painted, mass manufactured or hand crafted, molded or free-flowing - you will be hard pressed to choose what is best for your children.

However, the best choices often come down to wooden furniture. This is especially true for children’s furniture, which your children will be using both for play and for study. Here are the best reasons for going for wood.

    Durability and Strength

Since hardwood is commonly used for furniture, you are assured of durability and strength. When the furniture is made by a reputable manufacturer, you can be assured of these qualities. In fact, with proper care, you can make heirloom out of children’s furniture; just store them properly in the attic, and your grandchildren can use them, too.

    Value for Money

You might have to spend more on wooden children’s furniture, but you will be getting value for your money in the long run. You will get things of beauty and function, coupled with strength. Since wood does not break as easily as other materials, you can use wooden children’s furniture for a long, long time. You need not buy over and over again!

    Resale Value

Wooden furniture often is the most saleable items in a garage sale. The reasons usually range from the durability of the material and the allure of wood itself. For some, wood represents stability and antiquity. Thus, even if you do not wish to clutter your attic with your children’s old furniture, then you can sell them to others.

  173. Have you ever tried to purchase a toy or rattle for a baby, that you know will contain no toxins? I have tried several times to purchase non toxic baby toys
in department stores and toy shops, and I have come away empty handed. The products are nearly all made in China (even if imported from elsewhere) and there is no assurance on the product packaging that the products do not contain any toxic ingredients or toxic paint. I’m sure some would be safe but there is no way of knowing.
We know that babies love to put things in their mouth whether it is a teething toy, a rattle, a cuddly toy or just bedding and clothing. Therefore it would be nice to know for certain that what they are sucking on will not harm them in any way.
For a safe, soft and cuddly organic cotton baby toy, visit http://www.naturebub.com. The organic cotton baby rabbit from Sckoon can be purchased separately or with its own gift box.

Consider the landscape painting, “Towering Over”. A parent might ask: Where is the bridge that goes through the forest? Where is the arch that the road goes through? What is at the end of the yellow road? Questions like these will help your child to think about the painting and feel more at home with it, and enjoy it more.

A big concern for many new parents is the health and safety of your baby when you get home from the hospital and are on your own. There are so many ways a baby could be hurt. They also don’t have the immune system of an older child, nor the reserves when they get sick. Then, there is also the safety in the car and getting the correct car seat for the summer travels. What can a parent do to find all the information necessary to keep baby safe and healthy without carrying a whole library around with you? How can you find the information quickly in an emergency? And what is the information that you should leave with the babysitter if you go out? We have the answer to these problems! Check out our Safe Baby Organizer for a concise, easy to use handbook with safety and emergency information for handling both everyday and emergency situations. There is an area for your baby’s personal medical information, too. The size is great for taking with you anywhere.
If you are more concerned about the information being available for your babysitter, try our Babysitter Information Station that has a safety handbook attached to a white frame that hangs on the refrigerator or a wall that holds a babysitter card with a write-and-wipe surface on the book’s cover, to write reminders, leave a babysitter instructions, parent’s phone numbers and where to reach a trusted neighbor to call in an emergency.

  177. Ah, spring is in the air and so is pollen. This spring has been especially difficult for people with allergies. However, it is not always easy to distinguish between a cold and allergies. This is especially true if the child cannot talk or tell you about the symptoms. How can you tell the difference? A child with a cold will show symptoms for 3-7 days. They may have a thick nasal discharge and a low grade fever. If the child has allergies, the symptoms last for a longer time, recur the same time of year, and have no fever or achiness. The nasal discharge is thin and runny. Their eyes may be itchy and watery. Sneezing is often the first reaction to an allergen. Other things to watch for are recurrent ear infections, wheezing, and rash as these are clues that a baby may develop nasal or food allergies later on. In talking about the paintings, parents can teach their child shapes, counting, colors, and many other things, and help them to enjoy the painting. Consider the landscape painting “The Fairy Woods,” some questions might be: What colors are the trees? Which is the tallest tree? If you were in a canoe, where would you land it? Which tree is the most crooked? If you were a leprechaun, where would you hide your pot of gold? If an elf were to hide behind each tree, how many elves could hide? The makers of our products asked new and expectant parents what they wanted to learn about handling an emergency with their new baby.

The parents challenged them to provide this life-saving information in products that they could use instantly, and to also prepare babysitters.

They asked professionals – pediatricians, ER doctors, nurses, paramedics, firefighters and police officers – what they want parents to know and how they keep their own children safe.

The design team then created beautiful, affordably-priced products that can be used anywhere the baby is – at home, in a car, with the babysitter and at grandma’s home.

The information of these valuable products is translated into Spanish also. So, if you are concerned about the safety of your baby, go to http://www.babyinfosafe.com to find the award winning emergency manual either alone or with a diaper bag, or other accessory.

  181. The world we live in is becoming more contaminated by the day – the air we breathe, the food we eat and the water we drink. Our babies and little children are most affected as their skins are highly sensitive and their immune systems are not fully developed.
We may already have the habit of checking the ingredients list on the food we purchase at the supermarket, but this habit needs to be extended to the clothes we buy, especially for tiny babies and children.
Organic baby clothing means that NO synthetic chemicals will irritate your child’s lungs or skin. Babies spend a lot of time in their cradles and cots, so organic bedding and sleepwear means that there are NO harsh chemicals against babies skin or for baby to breathe in while asleep.
We also need to choose a natural and environmentally friendly washing product so that the clothing is not contaminated with harsh chemicals and fragrances during the washing process.
As well as these health benefits, natural organic clothing is so beautiful and soft, your child will love the feel of it.

  184. Children love Wooden Rocking Horses.

Wooden rocking horses are hugely popular among children, no matter what their age is. A wooden horse is something that is a masterpiece in itself, and children have been cherishing it for years, even after getting newer flashier toys. Wooden rocking-horses have been around for many centuries and keep on going forward year to year and from generation to generation.

No matter what parts of the world children are from, they hold a fascination for rocking horses. It is not clearly specified in history as to what was the purpose of the creation of the wooden climbing horse. However, it is known that they have been around for hundreds of years, since the 15th century to be exact.

There are some sources that say that these wooden horses were utilized for instructing children to ride on horseback. In spite of the origin or purpose of creation, wooden horses have been made ever since in different parts of the world, and they very much remain all time favorites during the time of childhood.

  185. Bright colors and whimsical designs inspire children to be creative. This is very important because creativity develops their sense of power and ownership. When they draw and paint, they produce a picture that is meaningful to themselves.

If a parent talks with a child about a painting, the painting becomes more meaningful leading to the child’s greater enjoyment. In the landscape painting “Daffodils”, a parent might ask how many different colored leaves there are, or how many clumps of flowers. Which bunch of flowers is leftmost? If you were a fox, where would you dig your hole, or which bunch of flowers would the bees like most? Which is your favorite tree? All these and more questions would increase your child’s appreciation of the painting.

  186. ESSENTIALS FOR A DIAPER BAG
Nobody wants to end up with shoulder or back pain due to the weight of a bulging diaper bag. However, nobody wants to find that they are missing essentail supplies while out and about with baby. After raising children of my own and conferring with other Moms, here is a list of diaper bag items that were repeatedly suggested. The diaper bag needs an insulated pocket for keeping the bottle or food cool. A large changing pad to protect baby from unknown surfaces. Of course, wipes can be used for cleaning up baby or to wipe off shopping cart handles or other surfaces baby may contact. One will need two diapers per hour and rash cream for changing. Mom or Dad will need hand sanitizer for after the changing, as well. A clean outfit for baby and a plastic bag for the dirty clothes. A burp cloth is needed. Pacifier, teether or toys that can be attached to baby so they do not end up on the floor are preferred by the Moms I spoke with.

It is a good idea to have an ID tag in the bag. A first aid kit is a must especially for toddlers. A snack or bottle of water for Mom or Dad is needed depending on the length of the outing. One of the important aspects of a diaper bag is that it is ergonomically correct for comfort. One may want to consider the use of the diaper bag after baby no longer needs it. A messanger style bag or backpack with waist strap might be good for later. Dad’s Diaper Bag is a good example as it looks like it could be a laptop case. Or, for a tote style bag Mom’s Diaper Bag will fit nicely. Both bags feature many of the nessesary items discussed above.

  188. Children love bright colors and whimsical designs. They bring out children’s creative imaginations. Most children cannot be realistic at a young age, so the whimsical designs encourage them to draw and paint at their own level. It tells them they don’t have to make their pictures look exactly like the real world.

There are often trees in landscape paintings. Spring is a good time to see trees in bloom, such as the Weeping Cherry Tree at Murphy Art Studio. As a parent you could use this as a teaching opportunity and ask your child questions like, “What is nesting in the tree? Which tree is the tallest? The shortest? Which is the lightest color?” All these questions and more will help your child think about the painting and enjoy it more.

  190. Landscape paintings can be a source of many lessons for young children. They can learn vocabulary, number quantity, colors and many other things by looking at plein air paintings.

Regarding a painting I call Turtle Island, some of the questions parents might ask are: Where is the island? How many trees are on the island? What color is the water? Is it the same color as the sky or a different color? How many tree trunks do you see? Which are the fattest? The skinniest? What color is the grass in front of the water?

Children enjoy paintings more when they have been asked questions about them and have had time to talk about them.

  194. I’ve only recently heard of colour grown cotton. It is such a great thing, and I can’t believe I haven’t heard of it before.
For anyone, like me, who doesn’t know what it is here’s a brief description.

It was originally used for thousands of years by native american indians to create different colours without the need for dying. Cotton plants can be found in a variety of different colours such as: white, tan, green, yellow, red, and brown. These are naturally occuring colours that cotton grows as, however, because the cotton fibres didn’t suit commercial textile machines, white cotton has been the only one used.
Thankfully, colour grown is being used again, which is wonderful news for people with allergies and sensitivities to dyes.

  195. Organic Premature Baby Clothes
Preemie babies are born so tiny. Also they are very delicate and sensitive. One of the organs most affected by premature birth is the baby’s lungs, as these are one of the last organs to develop. Preemie babies are not yet ready to take over all the functions that the mother’s body is providing. This is why they need special care and breathing support.
So the lungs of a preemie baby may be even more sensitive to chemicals and toxins than a full-term baby. Whether preemie or full-term, your baby needs the least exposure possible to chemicals and toxins. A way of providing this is by using only 100% organic baby products and clothing.

  197. Why Organic Baby Clothing
I have heard the comment, that there is no need for organic clothing, as once it is washed, the chemicals will be removed. Now, many chemicals may be removed by washing, but some such as formaldehyde are chemically bonded to the fabric. It is almost impossible to completely remove formaldehyde from clothing and it is very commonly used in all sorts of clothing; not only formaldehyde but also other toxic chemicals.
I have purchased items to wear, where I have not been able to get rid of the smell after repeated washings and leaving out in the sun for days. Some stockings are particularly bad, but also some clothing items. I have to discard these as I am allergic to chemical odors.
Many toxins used in the cotton growing process may be removed during the fabric manufacturing process, but many more chemicals and toxins are added back during the dyeing process and garment making, to give the products special properties - eg anti-bacterial, anti-static, wrinkle-free etc. Many of these are dangerous to our health. So organic manufacturing of clothing is important for our health, and especially for the health of a young child.
Organic manufacturing uses natural chemicals in the dyeing process. If imported or transported any distance, organic clothes may have been sprayed during the transport process. So it is still a good idea to wash before wearing for the first time. These added chemicals, if present, will wash out. You know just by walking through a perfumed area or where someone is smoking, how easily our clothes can absorb smells from the air.
Another very important reason for buying organic clothes is to support sustainable farming methods and help protect the environment, by taking a positive stand against pesticides, herbicides and dioxins.

  199. Healthy Baby - a Joy to Care For
There are so many baby products available these days. It’s important to be aware of the ingredients of the products you use on your babies skin. Many baby products contain parabens, mineral oil and/or synthetic fragrance which may irritate your baby’s skin. In addition, approximately 60% of anything you put on a baby’s skin can be absorbed into their system, so it makes perfect sense to use only very natural products. We must also be aware of false advertising, so it is always a good idea to check the label and make sure it is 100% natural.
We have a lovely range of organic baby skin care products that nourish and protect your baby’s beautiful sensitive skin.

You can have a look at our lovely range of organic baby skin care products at:

  201. The Beauty of Organic Cotton for Baby Clothing
The beauty of buying organic clothing is that we are supporting the farmers that are using sustainable farming techniques. Organic cotton farmers do not use any synthetic pesticides, fertilizers or genetically modified cotton. Their practices are a viable choice to actually give back to the earth, rather than poisoning it. Certified organic cotton is a wonderful choice for clothing and bedding, especially for the sensitive skin of babies and young children, as the toxic residue found in conventional cotton can aggravate or cause a variety of allergies. Our website http://www.naturebub.com has a variety of beautifully soft designer organic baby clothing.

  202. Organic Baby Clothes:
It is important for parents to realize the hazards that exist in the use of conventionally grown cotton. It is the second-most chemically sprayed plant in the world, after coffee. Many of the pesticides used are potential or known carcinogens, (cancer causing). Fabrics are also often treated with Formaldehyde which is carcinogenic and a neurotoxin.
Repeated washing does not always rid the clothing of the chemicals.
Choosing 100% organic cotton clothing for your baby is a very good idea, as baby’s skin is so sensitive and porous. You can find a lovely selection of organic cotton baby clothing and other baby goods at http://www.naturebub.com

  203. Children thrive in environments that take their needs, interests, and abilities under consideration. Gone are the Victorian days of children being treated as though they were miniature adults! Children are far happier, more productive and creative, and better able to handle their emotions when they are in environments that suit their wants, needs, and abilities.

Providing your kids with furniture that fits, allows your child to learn the skills that will serve them well throughout adulthood! Your children’s furniture should include table and chairs, bookshelves, and storage facilities, as well as a bed and dresser. The proper sized kid’s furniture will help your child too learn how to sit properly at a table, leading to better table manners. Properly fitted kids http://amishbuiltlawndecor.com/page/349168205“>furniture also assists your child in learning how to care for their toys and clothing properly.

Children’s furniture can be made even more educational with pictures and word labels on the dresser to help them put away their clothes and toys themselves. Most young children love to declare that they can “do it” for themselves. The appropriate child’s furniture makes these tasks more fun and more successful.

Here at Amish Furniture Crafts we carry a nice selection of children’s furniture that has been handmade by an Amish Craftsman. Each piece of furniture is made of the solid wood and highest quality products and workmanship.

  206. SOME BABY PRODUCTS YOU MUST HAVE
First time parents can be overwhelmed with the choices of products for baby. Here are some products that are truely useful and necessary. A bulb syringe and nail clippers are an absolute necessity. The bulb syringe will be used for extracting mucus during colds or for irrigating ears. The nail clippers, with built up handle for easier use, will be used to keep the baby from scratching themselves with fingernails.
To help sooth a crying baby due to colic or other distress, a baby swing is a great help. The swing with changing seat positions is good to keep the baby in line with development. The newborn will need to recline until a seated position can be achieved. Generations of mothers have also used baby slings to keep the baby soothed and close. It allows a busy Mom or Dad to have both hands free while still snuggling with the child. Another calming device for a fussy infant is a swaddling pouch. You can swaddle the baby in a blanket, but if you have not mastered the technique of tighly wrapping, you may pruchase a pouch to slip the child into and fasten the “wings” with the hook and loop closures.
To prevent SIDS, a pacifier is recommended by First Candle, a SIDS prevention group. After the baby has established nursing, use a pacifier at night to decrease chances of SIDS. The silicone ones last longer than latex. The orthodonic pacifiers are better for the baby’s teeth.
Last but not least is the “Bible” for new parents. Safe Baby Organizer lets parents organize and carry your baby’s medical information, phone numbers and your personal notes. It contains expert advice from pediatricians, ER doctors, nurses, and professionals on how to prevent and handle an emergency anywhere your baby is in English or Spanish.
It is recommended by the American Academy of Emergency Medicine and given iParenting award for one of the most outstanding safety products of the year.

  208. The history of the children’s play horse can be traced back as far as ancient Greek times although these bore little resemblance to the rocking horses we are familiar with today. In the middle Ages it was common for children to play act jousting tournaments and wheeled wooden horses were often crafted for this purpose.

Over the years rocking horses have evolved from simple and crude designs to the lifelike, sophisticated and ornate creations that we know today.

In the late eighteenth and nineteenth centuries it became common to finish the horses by painting and traditionally they would be high gloss white with black spots or dappled grey. Although the type of finish achieved was very tactile and durable it was a very labor intensive process which involved a lot of sanding down and applying multiple coats of paint and lacquer.

At Amish Furniture Crafts we carry a large selection of Quality Amish handmade Rocking Horses made in the U.S.A. Select one and make a child very happy

  226. When considering a good quality desk for your child, the reasons are great. It is important that your child has a desk that will not break while they are doing their homework. Your child can be injured seriously if this were to happen. When you put a heavy computer on a rickety desk, it can fall with just a slight jar. There could be some serious injuries caused due to this.

When you purchase a quality a hrefchild’s desk, you will not have to worry about it coming apart while your child is using it. They are strong enough to handle the weight of a complete computer set up. If you purchase a strong wood such as cherry or oak, your child could even stand on the desk with all the computer equibment and the desk would still hold up. If you have a child who is a climber, this can be a great outlay in their safety.

  230. Most of us adults love to rock on a rocking chair. Why? Simply because it relieves stress and soothes the mind. Children also love to rock on a kid’s rocking chair. Why? Simply because the very motion is soothing to them, the to and fro will work like a balm on her tensed and frayed nerves. A chair such as this is an ideal way to help your child to manage her anger and mood swings.

It’s strange but adults tend to think that kids do not get stressed or upset since they are kids. This is actually not true. Kids also get upset but the only issue is that they can’t express themselves. How often have you seen your little one sucking her thumb or twirling her hair or just gazing into the space? These are all signs that she is upset or stressed. Hence, a kid’s rocking chair is the right thing for her.

Come and visit us and check out our large selection of children’s rocking chairs handmade by and Amish craftsman here locally.

  232. Sleep Safety for Infants
Bringing a baby home is an exciting time for a family that may turn to sudden tragedy if some simple guidlilnes are not followed. Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) is the leading cause of death in babies one month to one year of age (usually under 6 months of age). The risk of SIDS can be greatly reduced by placing the baby on her back for sleeping - both at night and for naps. The sleeping area should be a firm surface with no soft, fluffy, and loose bedding, pillows, and stuffed toys in the area. Make sure that everyone who may care for your baby is aware of the back lying position and safety measures to take. Dress your baby in sleepers that will keep her warm without blankets while she sleeps. If you do use a blanket, be sure the baby has her feet all the way down to the foot of the bed. The blanket should be no higher than chest level and the ends tucked under the mattress. Bed-sharing with others is unsafe for baby. It increases the risk of SIDS and suffocation.

Pacifiers have been shown to help reduce the risk of SIDS. If you are breastfeeding, wait until one month of age so the breastfeeding is well established before offering the pacifier. Pacifiers should not be forced upon the baby, and should not be dipped in any sweet ingredient. There is no need to reisert the pacifier if it falls out while baby sleeps. Pacifiers may be discontinued after one year of age. The risk of SIDS is past then and the need for sucking is greatest from 1-5 months so the non-nutritious sucking stage is past for most babies.

Visit http://www.babyinfosafe.com for additional baby safety information products such asBook and a Bag that can be taken everywhere with you.

  233. Infants and Fever
Fever is a common concern for new parents and their infant’s health. What is a fever and how do you manage it? The average normal body temperature is 98.6 degrees. When body temperature gets to 100 degrees or higher it is considered a fever. There can be several reasons a baby may have a fever. Infections, heat exhaustion, strenuous exercise (struggling or crying) are examples of a cause for a fever. Some ways to treat a fever are to avoid bundling in blankets as that will only cause the fever to go higher, you may sponge the child with tepid water and encourage the drinking of water. Covered ice packs may be placed behind the neck, on the groin, or under the arms. Seizures may occur with a fever especially if the baby is 6 months or up to 5 years of age. If the child convulses, lay him on the floor on his side and make sure no objects are in his mouth or close enough on the floor where he may hit them. If the convulsing lasts for more than 8-10 min. call for medical assistance. If an infant has a fever of 101 degrees or higher, or if an older child has a fever for two days, call your doctor.

  236. Kids’ Runny Nose
We are in the back to school mode and fall is fast approaching. That means many babies and children will have runny noses. According to the CDC (Center for Disease Control) the best thing to do is to wait and watch your child. Be sure they get plenty of fluids (water) and sleep. Some people find that using a vaporizer may ease the discomfort. The CDC does not recommend antibiotics unless your healthcare provider tells you that your child has sinusitis. If you give your child antibiotics when not needed, the germs can become resistant to the effects of the medicine.

  237. We have reached the “dog days of summer”. It is especially important to protect your child from heat exhaustion. Be sure they are well hydrated with water and shaded from the sun with a hat or, better yet, an umbrella. Be sure their clothing “breathes” and allows perspiration to evaporate. If your child or infant becomes overheated a tepid to cool bath may help decrease the child’s temperature. 241. Child Development Relies on Interaction with Adults

The size of a child’s brain triples in size between birth and 2 years. Dimitri Christakis, director for the Center for Child Health, Behavior and Development at Seattle’s Children Research Institute, recently published a study that contends that interaction is key for a baby’s brain and language development. If a child is placed in front of “the electronic babysitter” (the TV). There is a decrease in the number and length of child vocalizations and the back and forth of human conversation. With 30% of households having the television on all at all times, the decrease in verbal interaction was significantly lowered.
After the difficulty of pregnancy and childbirth and the desire to give our kids the best opportunities, we need to talk, read to and play with them on a daily basis. This interaction can be anytime - even during diaper changes. To be sure you have what you need for diaper changes and childcare go to http://www.babyinfosafe.com

  242. 1.What is in a name?
A recent study published in “Social Science Quarterly” by David Kalist lists the top 10 names of boys that are more likely to lead to delinquent acts. The university professor studied 15,000 names between 1987-1991 and found the more unlikely the name, the more likely the problems. This follows a 1993 study that found the more unusual spelling of a common first name the less “upstanding and successful” the boys would be. And yet another study in 2001 showed that boys are judged for moral character and masculinity by first names. So, parents-to-be consider carefully when picking a name for your child. http://www.babyinfosafe.com

  243. During the heat of the summer you need to not only keep yourself well hydrated, but your baby needs to have plenty of fluids, too. If an infant becomes dehydrated, they may spike a high temperature that can induce siezures. This creates an emergency that needs quick action on the caregivers part. Will you have the proper information at hand? You will if you have the Baby Safe Organizer from babyinfosafe.com. It is a handy binder with not only your child’s personal medical information, but also advice from medical, law, and firefighter professionals. Don’t leave home without the emergency information you may need to save your child. http://www.babyinfosafe.com/

  266. I sure wish I had known about, “Solve Your Child’s Sleep Problems,” by Dr. Richard Ferber, when my daughter was a baby! What an invaluable baby gift! I nursed, rocked, rode in the car, and nursed some more until my daughter fell asleep. I was afraid to let her cry herself to sleep! Boy was I wrong. I made the whole process so difficult for my husband, my daughter, and myself. When my son was about 6 weeks old, I heard about Dr. Ferber’s book. I immediately took his advice and began establishing a healthy sleep pattern for him. Choose a soft and cuddly Baby Shower Gifts for baby, but give the whole family the best gift of all, Sleep!
