  1. Depending on how many pets you have and how much your cat, dog or other pet sheds, pet hair issues can range from the occasional aggravation to feeling like the hair taking over your house. Of course, regular sweeping and vacuuming helps, but many smaller and lighter hairs will become airborne from odd places where they’ve settled out of sight. To make sure you, your family or guests don’t inhale these pet hairs you’ll want to use a true HEPA pet air filter. This type of filtration will ensure that over 99% of any pet hair are removed from the air.

Why true HEPA instead of a cheap air cleaner or dust filter? This is because there are often hair fragments and dander that become airborne and a pet hair removal purifier with a true HEPA filter will remove over 99% of all hair, dander, etc and create much cleaner air. Cheap air cleaners tend to leave particles in the air or don’t have a strong enough motor to cycle the air fast enough to prevent you from inhaling the hair or dust first. At our online store, you can shop a great selection of quality pet air purifiers with true HEPA filters and all at cheap discount prices with free shipping. Call or click today and get the clean air you deserve!

  3. Is your dog prepared for these cold weather months? Pets need as much protection and warmth as we humans need. Functionally it makes sense to provide your dog with the clothing they need to withstand the rain, snow, and wind. While the selection of an appropriate winter dog coat seems simple, sometimes there is confusion about what is the best option. When you are ready to look at the style, sizing and other minor features need to be considered.

Nowadays, you can always find some type of dog sweater at a commercial store, but they do not always have the smaller or larger styles your dog might need to provide well fit comfort clothing. We all want our dog to look cute, it is important for them to feel comfortable with the correct size so they will not struggle with the clothing. Let us help you provide the clothing to protect your pet from the cold weather and keep them dry as well. Our selections of dog clothing come from our trusted vendors that have the passion and foresight to offer cute yet smart clothing options to cover your pet from daily wear to an outdoor romp.

  4. If You’re Doing These 3 Things, You Could Be Causing Your Own Pet Dander Problem

Pet dander causes allergies and asthma attacks for a lot of people. And keeping that pet dander under control is a constant battle, so you definitely don’t want to be doing anything to make it worse. Truth is, a LOT of pet owners cause pet dander levels to be unnecessarily high in their homes by doing and not doing certain things that cause your cat or dog to have irritated or allergic skin conditions that make them scratch and release more dander into your home.

First, how often you wash your pet is a big factor. Most indoor pets don’t need to washed more than every 7-10 days. This dries out their skin, causing more skin flakes and more scratching, which releases more dander onto the floor, furniture and into the air. Under washing is a problem, too. If you let your cat or dog go for too long without washing, usually more than 3 weeks, a similar thing happens—the skin builds up with dirt, dust (which contains dust mites, a powerful allergen) and this results in more scratching, too, and…more dander release.

Second, the type of cleaners you’re using to wash your pet can be something else that irritates the skin and causes more scratching and dander release. You want to use gentle cleaners that are hypoallergenic, not harsh. Use plain dish soap for example, and you’ll likely irritate a dog or cat’s skin, which will cause more scratching and dander.

Third, not keeping your home clean and free of dust allows dust mites to thrive and cause big problems for your pet. Dust mites are one of the strongest allergens known to man and an indoor pet that is laying on a dirty or dusty floor frequently is picking up a good dose of house dust, which on average contains about 200 live dust mites per gram of dust. So frequent vacuuming and using a quality pet dander air purifier can keep well over 95% of house dust off the floor and out of the air, which will go a long way toward keep cat and dog dander down—simply because they’re not scratching as much.

Air Purifiers and Cleaners.com offers a big selection of the best air purifiers for cat dander, dog dander, as well as removing pet hair, odors and other pollutants, all at the cheapest discount prices with free shipping due to our extremely low overhead. And we have a team of air filtration experts on staff to answer any questions you may have—just give us a call toll-free at 1-800-701-2513. We’re here to help!

  5. Pet Air Purifier Review: 3 Excellent Pet Dander, Hair & Odor Removing Units

Buying the right pet air purifier can be tough, mainly because there are a lot of details and every pet air cleaner manufacturer thinks theirs is the best. That’s why we did our own review of three and researched customer reviews on three units, for all the important things about a pet air cleaner–dander & hair removal, odor control, filter life, room size coverage, noise level and price. Each category has a scale of 1-5, with 5 being the best. Here’s what we found:

First Place: Austin Pet Machine Price: $594
    Dander & Hair: 5 Odor Control: 4.6 Filter Life: 5 Room Size: 5 Noise: 4 Price: 4 Overall: 4.6/5
This unit performed best overall according to our test results and customer reviews, removing over 99% of particles 0.3 microns and over 95% of particles 0.1 to 0.299 microns. Filter life is a solid 4-5 years, which is exceptional for a true HEPA and activated carbon filter to last that long. Room size coverage was also very good, covering up to 1500 square feet with the unit on medium high to high. Noise was acceptable and not very noticeable at medium to medium low speeds. High speed did make the unit noticeably louder, but you normally don’t leave an air cleaner on high for very long, usually only a few minutes to clear out an area, etc. Price is reasonable considering the substantial air filtration power, long filter life, and 5 year warranty. The Austin Pet Machine has been highly rated over and over and proven in testing as one of the most effective pet odor air purifiers.

Second Place: Winix U450 Signature Series Air Purifier Price: $369
Dander & Hair: 5 Odor Control: 3.9 Filter Life: 4 Room Size: 4 Noise: 4 Price: 5 Overall Score: 4.31/5
This air purifier is one of the best values on the market, edging out the popular Blueair 203 by few points—but with some distinct advantages, creating excellent customer reviews that matched our test results. The filters are very effective for removing over 99% of pet dander, hair, dust and other particles as well as odors, and they include a pre-filter (which extends the life of the main HEPA and carbon filters) plus healthy negative ions that destroy airborne bacteria and odors. Room size coverage is 450 square feet and the unit is remarkably not that noisy even on it’s Turbo setting and whisper quiet on low. Filters are washable, too, so you can get a full 12-18 months out of a set of filters, not 6-8 months like the Blueair units. Also has a great modern look and comes with a remote, which neither the Blueair or Austin units come with.

Third Place: Blueair 203 with SmokeStop Gas & Odor Filter Price: $418.00
    Dander & Hair: 5 Odor Control: 4.2 Filter Life: 3 Room Size: 3 Noise: 5 Price: 5 Overall: 4.2/5
This performed cleaned the air very well, with exceptional dust, hair & dander removal capacity, removing 99% of particles down to 0.1 microns (better than most HEPA filters), and excellent odor reduction. Gas & Odor SmokeStop filter includes quality activated granular carbon for powerful odor absorption. This unit also includes healthy negative ions for increased HEPA filter efficiency and covers room up to 175 square feet. The Blueair 203 created noticeably cleaner air in about 15 minutes, reducing dust and odors quickly—and more quietly than the other two air purifiers. Only drawback we saw the smaller room size coverage. At the same time there’s another plus: if you don’t really need odor control, the basic 203 can be purchased with a standard Blueair Particle Filter for $329. This air cleaner comes with a 5 year warranty, as well.

Any of these three air cleaners will work well for getting rid of pet hair, dander, dust, and odors. If you are really on a budget and don’t have many pet odors, the Winix 9500 is still a great pet air purifier; this unit will remove hair and dander very well, but doesn’t have enough carbon in the filters to adequately remove pet odors, especially if you have multiple indoor cats, dogs or other animals. If you have really tough odors or multiple pets, we would recommend considering one or two of the Austin Pet Machines as a good solution and you might consider buying an extra filter to have on hand so you don’t have to wait for the new filter. Best of all, at our online store you can buy any of these units at a discount with free shipping due to our extremely low overhead. Call our pet air purification experts today and find out which unit is best for your situation. We’re here to help!

  6. Our pets love their own special place to rest on whether for a nap or in their crate. Their comfort is important to us just as the durability of the mat, pad, or bed. For the older dog, it is best to reduce stress on their pressure points and provides comfort that will not shift with use. It is not always easy to locate a soft, yet environmentally friendly mat or bed that can be easily cleaned. It is practical to have their special retreat area also repel dirt, oil, odors, and liquids.

While there are numerous products out in local stores, they might not have the durability you need. You can easily find a comfortable dog bed at our on-line store. We have a variety of selections whether you are just looking for a pad, mat or your baby is ready for a little style to surround them. Provide your pet with that feeling of security with their special bedding area. Visit us at http://www.pamperedpetnook.com/dog-bed-pads-crate

  7. Pet Air Purifiers: Why You Want HEPA, Carbon and Ions for Best Performance

Pet owners buy air purifiers for various reasons, including reducing allergies, cutting down on hair and dander floating around, and even helping the cat, dog or other pet breathe cleaner indoor air and have fewer allergies themselves. Selecting a really good air cleaner for use with pets can be difficult, however, since every manufacturer has their claims as to why their air purifier is the one you should buy.

When it comes to making a pet air purifier effective against odors, dander, bacteria, viruses, etc, it really comes down to, whether the unit has enough air-moving power, the filters, and whether it has UV or ions. First, the air purifier has ato be able to cycle all of the air in the room about every 4-5 minutes max. Why? Because if it takes any longer, there’s a good chance you’re going to inhale the hair or other pollutants before the air cleaner can get to it. Basically you want a pet air cleaner with an output of at least 150-200 CFM. Next, you definitely want HEPA and substantial activated carbon filters, as the HEPA will remove the dander, dust, hair and other particles, and the activated carbon removes the airborne chemicals that make up the odors we smell. The more carbon, the longer the filter lasts and the better it removes pet odors.

Pet air purifiers with ions are getting more attention these days, too, since they can also be antibacterial, antiviral, and destroy VOC’s which make up a lot of those odors, too. And, ions tend to cause larger particles to both fall from the air as well as make them stick together which enhances a HEPA filter’s particle removal efficiency. So getting a unit with UV (which typically produces OH- ions and superoxide ions) or one that says ‘with ions’, will give you that extra edge for removing dander, reducing allergies, and keeping odors under control. That said, the air cleaner brands we’ve found most effective for pet odors, dander, hair, etc. are from Aller Air (with UV option), and Blueair, with their Gas & Odor Filters. Both brands have all 4 main components—they definitely have outputs above 200 CFM, they both have medical-grade HEPA filters, substantial activated carbon filters, and offer UV or ions. Specifically, Aller Air’s 5000 Vocarb with UV and Blueair’s 450E are top sellers for pet air filtration purposes. Winix is also good, but does not have the same odor removal capacity, small amounts of carbon, and the warranty isn’t as good—but they are good if you’re on a budget.

Air Purifiers and Cleaners.com sells the very best pet air purifiers with quality HEPA, activated carbon filters, powerful outputs, and UV or ions to effectively remove pet dust, dander and odors from your home. And since we’re an online store with very low overhead, this allows us to sell at the cheapest discount prices with FREE SHIPPING every day! Call us today for free information at 1-800-701-2513. 8. Sheepskin Rugs for Pets

Everyone wants the best for their pet. Comfort and health are of utmost importance for any animal lover. Pets spend a great deal of time asleep in their beds, especially once they get older, so it is important to make sure they are comfortable year round. Animals also need medical attention as they age. Medication and vet bills can get expensive, so anything that can ease their discomfort and is also a preventative measure, is ideal. Hypoallergenic sheepskin rugs are the answer to adding to the quality of life for your pet.

Most pet bedding is expensive and cheaply made. It is not designed with the same qualities as natural sheepskin rugs. Synthetic pet beds quickly fall apart or get stinky and you have to throw them out and look for a new one. If you like the pet bed you have, but it’s difficult to keep clean, simply add an organic sheepskin rug to the bottom. You can easily remove it for cleaning as they are washable. Using sheepskin wool for your pet will do more than just keep their bed smelling fresh.

Handmade sheepskin rugs are hypoallergenic and contain lanolin, which keeps the wool fibres naturally fresh, dirt and bacteria resistant, which are all desired qualities for your pet to sleep on. Sheepskin wool also has hollow fibres that have a cooling effect during the summer and warming effect in the winter, as well as the ability to whisk away moisture so your pet will stay dry. So sheepskin fur will help regulate your pet’s temperature. Organic sheepskin has also been known to help heal skin lesions and disorders. It’s an affordable way to alleviate bedsores and will make your pet’s bed more comfortable.

Moccasins Canada has hypoallergenic sheepskin rugs that can be used as a pet bed and are unique in nature. We have several colours and styles to choose from at affordable prices. All our natural sheepskin products and apparel are handmade by Native Americans in Canada. We pride ourselves in our friendly customer care and superb shipping services. Please visit us today and receive the most therapeutic and comfortable sheepskin wool bed for your pet. http://www.moccasinscanada.com/sheepskin-rugs

  14. DOG BANDANAS

Recently on a sunny, breezy San Francisco day I saw a young, macho laid-back dude cruising across downtown 4th and Mission Streets. He was driving a powder blue convertible with the top open. Right next to him with his front paws propped up on the window while standing on his hinds was his German Shepherd taking in the scenery and having the time of his life.

Oh, and the dawg was properly cooling off wearing a paisley powder blue dog bandana. The young man’s personalized or custom made license plate read, “WOOF2U”. Priceless.

Of course, you mustn’t think you and your dog, pet or cat cannot be just as über cool in any setting. There is no such thing as a pet, dog or cat wearing a bandana that isn’t just as cool, cute and attention-getting. In fact, you and your pet’s emotional and physical well-being depends upon the growing, closeness, bonding and camaraderie (such as the scenario above) that a simple dog bandana or cat bandana, even a cooling bandana can bring.

The pet bandana becomes a greater necessity when its summer or the climate is hot. The pet bandana does more than just look cool and fashionable. Your dog or cat, but especially your dog, would need either a cotton dog bandana to sweat on, or a custom cooling bandana to cool down or take heat of your dog’s overall body temperature. (That reminds me- I’ve got to get a bandana collar for my cat, Joey, for cuteness sake. People say he’s just like a dog.)

Fido ‘n Fluffy has got a whole mountain of different colors and designs in dog bandanas. And the price is right! We also have the dog cooling bandana by Kyjen. By the way, $3.95 is a mere pittance of a price for a cooling bandana to comfort or even placate your barkative little dog. Health is wealth, right? (A flashy dog bandana with attitude costs a little more.) :D

Come check out these dog bandanas and see what I mean. Happy Summer! http://www.fidonfluffy.com

  15. The loss of a pet can leave us in a profound state of grief. Even if your loved one has been ill, their passing can still bring such grief that it is hard to bare. You have burial options but often need to make decisions before you are ready.

Cremation involves the incineration of the body in a specially-designed furnace, which reduces the remains to ashes and tiny bone fragments (called “cremains”). These are normally returned to you in a plastic bag that is inside a decorative tin or box. There are many selections of urns, ornamental boxes or figurines on-line to hold these final remains of your loved one.

Some ask if they can bury their baby. If you want to be able to visit their burial site, this is another option. Generally, the rule of thumb is that you may bury a pet in whatever manner you see fit on private property, so long as you have the owner’s permission. There are also cemeteries for pets which offer a dedicated section.

Our loved ones never had expectation, only love and comfort to give us, always looking for your touch and approval. Their passing is painful and their passing is personal. Let us offer you options whether a cremation urn, a casket, memorial stone, or a treasure box for their special color or toy.

As owners of multiple pets, we understand loss of a precious pet.

  16. A great gift for your dog or a family’s dog is a colorful vest that will provide high visibility when they are out and about. Whether walking in a wooded area, a park, or just out jogging with you, it is important to have your and your pal recognized. There are lightweight vests that are easily put on and have no constrictions to affect his walk or run. These colorful Hurtta vests take the worry out of you both being recognized and include an area for identification.

The Hurtta line of clothing is like the “North Face” of the outdoor clothing. This Scandinavian design is functionally superior in its fit for your active outdoor dog.

  17. During these warm months of summer, your dogs are vulnerable to the heat and the exhaustion and stress that it brings to their bodies. Overweight or hyperactive dogs are not always able to process the increase temperature and are just miserable. We all look for a way to ease and eliminate their discomfort and it is really simple with the use of 1-2 cups of any of the following: banana, blueberries, celery, cucumber, kiwi, mango, pear, strawberries, or watermelon.

There are treats that you can easily put together for them that are both healthy and effective. These are Cool down cubes, made from a combination of different fruits. Puree the ingredients in a blender or food processor, adding water as needed to make a slurry consistency. Simply freeze in ice trays for individual servings. Your dog will love these and with the cool treat, they will begin to relax and recover from the heat.

  18. Happy Paws = Happy Pet!

Crusty cracked paws can be painful. But it doesn’t stop there. Dry, cracked and crusty paw pads leads to paw soreness. Naturally your dog will lick his paws to ease the soreness, but this licking will make the affected area rawer, which will lead to more licking and inflammation, redness, irritation and discomfort.

Dry, crusty cracked paws will no doubt be at the root of various traumatic disorders compounded with stress which weakens the immune system. And if your dog is older, stress on the joints is even more aggravating. You can imagine how dry, painful cracked paws would in no time lead to chronic disorders, and lameness!

This is a perfect scenario in where ‘an ounce of prevention equals a pound of cure’ applies: The way to keep your dog from bearing the pain and discomfort of crusty paw pads is, of course, to keep your dog hydrated, and keep the paw pads smooth and supple. That’s where I Love Pet Head Oatmeal Paw Butter comes in.

I Love Pet Head Oatmeal Paw Butter provides the relief and comfort your pet needs. Of course, massaging the Paw Butter into your dog’s paw pads is stimulating and aids circulation: remember, nourishment to the joints goes through a more difficult pathway than does for the muscle.

And it smells soo…good!! I Love Pet Head is quite persnickety in the making of their pet grooming products. They are made in the USA, of the finest most healthful ingredients for your dog. You know it: happy paws=happy pet!

Fido ‘n Fluffy, of course, has a whole line of I Love Pet Head Products, and … I Love Pet Head Oatmeal Paw Butter is on sale for $6.00 (so that perhaps you might get hooked by its oh, soo…good!! Smell). ?

  19. There is myth that all dogs can swim. This is a common misconception as not all dogs know how to swim. Just because there is a dog paddle, it does not mean all dogs are innate swimmers. Some breeds do not enjoy being anywhere near the water and some have a low body fat (greyhounds, Whippets, etc.) and have more difficulty regulating body temperature and staying afloat. Basset hounds, Pugs, and English Bulldogs will sink in water because their short legs cannot keep their large, heavy bodies afloat.

There are many benefits from wearing a dog life jacket. Some fatal accidents can occur when a curious dog with no water skills falls in and panics. A life jacket provides a strong handle on the back and makes it easy to grab and help your dog from the water. The bright color and reflective strips make it easy to spot a pet in the water. A secure fit on a fully adjustable life preserver is critical. Fear and anxiety in the water when your dog falls in the water can hamper normal respiration and swimming ability. Waves, undertows, currents and fast-moving rivers can overtake even the strongest swimmer. Having a life vest on can be the difference between life and death.

There are some breeds that live to be in the water, such as the Retrievers and Labradors. However, even these “water dogs” can have trouble if they are elderly, sick, or overweight and out of shape. If fatigue sets in, no matter how good of a swimmer they are, they may tire out and not be able to stay afloat. Like their parents, many dogs (and cats) lead a much more sedentary life style these days, and gasping for breath while in water is not a good way to assess fitness levels. Our on-line store offers a selection of life jackets that will provide your pet with the security they need. Even the best swimmer wears a lifejacket in a boat so should your pet.

  20. Getting a new puppy is a joy and festivity. You’ve got a new (and cute) family member! But if you live in an apartment or high-rise, expect floor piddling here and there. If the floor is carpeted, that’s an even bigger concern: stains and odors. Plus you couldn’t bear nor would you dare keep your puppy trapped in a cage the whole day when you’re out.

Fortunately, even with your busy schedule, you can do indoor puppy training easily. Puppy training pads, like Paw Trax Super Absorbent Training Pads, will do the job of maintaining a stain and odor-free carpet, and the ensuing stress (you and/or your pup’s) that might have been.

Pick a spot on any area you find conducive to establish your pup’s piddle schedule. To borrow the words of M. Scott Peck, train your pup with “kindness yet firmness” (no ‘bossy talk’ or heavy-handedness), and in no time will your puppy be going to that specially-designated spot where he can perform his business with proficiency, pride, and regularity!

The Paw Trax Training Tray is essential, too. It keeps the pads securely in place and provides additional protection from pee stains and odor. Plus it’ll keep your pup from chewing on the pads.

Fido ‘n Fluffy carries the whole line of Paw Trax Training products. They (the Richell manufacturers) will be coming out with new ones, too, and the discounted prices will be passed on to you. (Don’t forget Free Shipping on all orders over $50)

  21. Hairballs develop as a result of your cat’s healthy yet excessive grooming routine. The loose and dead hair is caught by the tiny hook-like structures on their tongue and eventually is swallowed. It is the amount of hair that collects in the stomach that can cause problems. Most cats spend up to 10 percent of their waking hours grooming and ingesting that hair. As your cat get older, they become more adept and proficient at removing fur from their coats with their tongues.

While it can be disturbing to hear or watch your cat eliminating a hairball, your can will normally vomit the hairball in relatively short order. While an occasional hairball is normal, if this is occurring several times a week, there is a problem. If your cat is retching without successful elimination, you need to take them to the veterinarian. When the hairballs do not pass, they can cause lethargy, diarrhea, defecation problems, a bloated abdomen, or a loss of appetite in a cat. Occasionally, hairballs can get so bad that they block their throat, stomach or intestines, resulting in death.

Preventative measures have been found to assist your cat with this routine. There are several supplements that you can incorporate into the cat’s routine just as there are foods that target hairballs. Specifically if you have a long-haired breed such as Persians and Maine Coons, it is logical to establish a dietary solution. In addition, routine brushing of your cat will eliminate part of the natural hair products. A good comb/brush used during their downtime on your lap, removes volumes of the loose and dead hair before they can ingest it. It is a combination of routine supplements to help digest as well as the special grooming time that will provide some relief.

  23. Removing Airborne Dog Hair: Two Great Affordable Air Purifiers

Dog hair is not only an allergen for many people–it’s also a real nuisance and causes a lot of extra cleaning if the dog stays indoors a lot and sheds hair and fur everywhere. Obviously, one of the best things you can do that will not only clean up the air, but also reduce the need for vacuuming and mopping is to purchase a quality pet air purifier. And to help you cut through all the excess information on the web about pet air cleaners, we’ve picked to units that are proven to do an excellent job of removing the hair, dander and odors without breaking the bank.

Our first dog hair-removing air purifier pick is the Austin Pet Machine. This time-honored electronic pet air purifier features long lasting HEPA and carbon filters, as well as a pre-filter (very important for dog or cat hair) and a strong output so that it can clean up the air in a room quickly. The Austin Pet Machine can move up to 400 cubic feet of air per minute, which means it will clean all of the air in an average room in about 2 minutes—and keep it clean as long as it’s running. With that level of output, the Pet Machine can cover up to 1500 square feet with one unit, which is a real value.

The Austin Pet Machine also features 15 pounds of carbon and zeolite to remove odors-that’s right, 15 pounds, not 15 ounces of carbon in a thin foam sheet. The pre-filter is critically important, too, since it removes airborne dog hair and larger dander particles and prevents premature clogging of the other filters. With the pre-filter in place, the Austin Pet Machine’s filters usually last 4-5 years—not 4-5 months as with some other air purifiers. And, it’s affordable—only $594.99 with free shipping from our store below—which is much less than than similar air cleaners like IQ Air and others that typically cost $1000 or more and don’t cover as much space with one unit. If you have strong odors, however, we recommend the Austin HealthMate Plus, which has extra strong odor removing carbon, as well as the HEPA.

The other, rather cheap dog hair air cleaner we recommend is the inexpensive Winix P450 Large Room Air Cleaner. It’s a good bit cheaper, coming in at $299, includes a good HEPA filter, ions to enhance the HEPA filter’s efficiency, and can handle up to 450 square feet with one unit. This air cleaner doesn’t have a lot of carbon—has only a thin sheet of carbon to remove some odors, but if removing dog hair on a budget is the goal, this one will do a great job of reducing allergies, removing dog dander, and saving you some money. The only downside is that the filters typically only last about a year and cost about $100 to replace. Other than that, it’s a great unit. Both the Pet Machine and Winix P450 are highly portable and look great in your home so either are a great choice—but if you can spend a little more up front, we recommend the Austin Pet Machine or HealthMate Plus as the best dog hair air cleaner value.

  24. Your Pet Dealing with Chronic Allergies? A Quality HEPA Air Purifier Can Help

A lot of pets have allergies just like we do. Their sinuses, eyes, and skin react to airborne allergens and chemical pollutants in the home much the same as ours do, resulting in many of the same symptoms-runny noses, itchy skin and eyes, etc. In some cases, our pets can be strongly allergic to fragrances and lingering odors like cooking odors and other chemical vapors from cleaning product that we might not notice but they certainly do since their sense of smell is many times more sensitive than ours. And just like us, common dust mites, one of the strongest allergens known to man, can cause a variety of issues for our indoor cats, dogs, birds, and other animals.

A good solution to troublesome indoor air pollution and pet allergy problems is to use a quality HEPA air purifier in your home. Many cheap air purifiers found at Walmart and other department stores usually don’t have the proper filters or features to properly clean the air, but air cleaners from top-rated brands like Aller Air, Blueair, and Austin Air do have true HEPA filters and substantial carbon filters that effectively and consistently remove over 99% of all of these pollutants, and what’s even better is that the filters tend to last from 3-5 years, not 3-5 months like so many other air cleaners. These air purifiers, though they cost a little more will actually remove more of the dander, chemicals and irritating odors than most air purifiers that are specifically called ‘pet air purifiers’. And by consistently keeping the air clean, there’s a very good chance that not only your pet will feel better, but you will, too, as many household allergens and pollutants cause low level or hard to pinpoint effects like fatigue, poor sleep, irritability and more.

If your pet does have allergies, of course seek proper medical attention and treatment from a qualified veterinary provider. But definitely consider how the indoor air might be affecting your pet, since it’s been proven in research that poor indoor air quality has a number of allergy-causing effects in humans, and it only makes sense that our pets could very well be suffering from this, as well. Do stay with the top rated indoor air cleaners, however, such as Aller Air, Austin Air, or Blueair, as these are proven to clean the air most effectively and provide the best value for the money. Ensure that your pet gets enough fresh air, as well, by keeping some windows open on nice days, except of course if you live in a city with heavy outdoor pollution. You may also want to consider negatively pressurizing your home, where you run an air cleaner that is pushing air to the outside, which causes the general flow of pollutants to go out, and clean air to come in through cracks, etc. If the air is polluted outside and you want to keep that pollutant outside, simply positively pressurize the home. This is often a very effective step with those that have severe allergies.

Air Purifiers and Cleaners.com is your number one online store for quality affordable pet allergy air cleaners with true HEPA and heavy duty carbon filters, as well as negative and positive air pressurizing systems for homes and buildings that really work and last for years. And since we’re an online store with low overhead, we gladly pass these savings on to you with best cheap discount prices every day and FREE SHIPPING. 25. Gingivitis in your pet’s mouth will affect their whole behavior and health. It is natural for your cat or dog can develop a build up of tarter and plaque, especially when they are indoor and more sedentary. The real cause is the build of bacteria. If the tarter and plaque is not removed, your baby will develop gingivitis and ultimately periodontal disease. Their eating behaviors can change as their body responds to the beginning of an infection. Just as we need to clean our teeth and stimulate our gums, our pets require routine treatments.

There are options to help deal with this such as functional dental treats that remove the tarter and plaque. Dental treats allow your pet to chew and systematically clean. In addition weekly gel applications or daily rinses are components that maintenance your pet’s teeth and breath. We offer a selection of options for your pet’s dental needs.

Locate a toothbrush or finger brush and apply toothpaste. Let your pet lick some of the paste from your finger to taste. Rub the brush starting at the gum line and moving towards the tip of the tooth. This process can be introduced slowly, yet become acceptable to them.

Alternately, an oral rinse can be quickly squirted in the pet’s mouth. Oral rinses should contain Chlorhexidine and Zinc Gluconate as both protect and inhibit bacteria and plaque. Squirt as far back in the mouth as you can, after prying back the lips and the teeth. Watch the resulting dribble!.

Minimally, use of a drinking water additive will provide a proteolytic enzyme which breaks down the residual food protein by-products. Pet parents can apply preventative gels weekly using a soft swab applicator or their finger.
Gingivitis affects the whole health of your pet. When the gums are not stimulated and healthy, their teeth become caked with plaque and eventually loosen. During your pet’s annual visit to the Vet, their teeth and gums need to be checked.

  27. A household tip for removing orders from fish, onions or garlic from your hands is to rub your hands with a contoured stainless steel “soap bar”. The mechanism of how this works is not exactly clear although there are many who swear that it removes those smells by binding the sulfur compounds found in these substances.
Now along comes the stainless steel bar to remove orders from your pet. While this seems to work by testimonials, the theory or scientific data behind the bar can not be found. What is clear is your pet likes the attention. The gentle massage as you run the bar up and down their back seems to soothe and allows special moment to talk and bond further with the baby. As you share your day’s events and they listen, why not massage their back and sides. For those pets with excessive odor, it is an easy solution which has been shown to work.
We offer a couple of selections of these stainless steel bars that are easy to clean. Simply wash with soap and water and you are ready for your next session with your pet.

  31. Most of us love our pets. And we want our pet to be happy and comfortable. They deserve to have comfortable bedding like any other member of the family. If you are worried about your pet ruining your bedding or furniture, you can place their bedding on top of your furniture to protect it. This cannot be done with all types of pet beds.

Sheepskin rugs make great pet beds as they are comfortable and transferable. Your house pet can feel cozy and warm wether they sit on the floor or the sofa with a genuine sheepskin throw rug. Not only will sheepskin rugs protect your furnishings, it will provide your pets with a nice place to rest. Another great reason why sheepskin rugs make great pet beds is that they are easy to wash and keep clean.

Genuine and natural sheepskin rugs are the best type of rug you should buy, when it comes to pet bedding. Genuine sheepskin will keep your pet cool in the summer and warm in the winter due to the self-regulating temperature properties found in the wool’s hollow fibers. Lanolin contained in medical sheepskin and untreated sheepskin is anti-bacterial which is another reason why it is great when used as a pet bed.

Your pet bed does not have to be an eye sore, it can blend right into your home decor when you use genuine sheepskin throw rugs as a pet bed. Whether your pet sleeps in or outdoors they will enjoy the plush and cozy feeling of a sheepskin rug. 32. Air Purifiers for Pet Dander: Three Units with Great Reviews, Under $500

Pet dander doesn’t bother some people. But for those that love their indoor pets, and have to deal with the increased allergies, asthma, or respiratory issues that come along with it, pet dander is a real nuisance. Getting rid of pet dander is fairly easy, however, if you use a combination of regular house cleaning and…proper air cleaning.

Electronic indoor air cleaners have come a long way in the last few years, and there are quite a few that do a great job but cost quite a bit, too. From our research and reviews, you can get a quality pet air purifier that removes pet dander and odors efficiently for about $200 and up. The majority of pet owners, however, either can’t or don’t want to spend more than $500, but still want a great unit that will really clean the air. So, we’ve found three air purifiers that are consistently top-rated for excellent air cleaning, as well as dander & odor removal, for under $500.

First choice is the Austin HealthMate Plus Junior, for $419. This unit has the best HEPA filters available, 15 pounds of super-activated carbon for pet odor removal, a pre-filter to remove most of the hair and larger dander particles so they don’t prematurely clog up the other filters, it’s compact and portable, and can handle up to 700 square feet with one unit, and filters last 3-5 years depending on the level of pollutants. This air purifier can clean the air in more than one room with one unit, which keeps you from having to buy another air cleaner for each of the other rooms. Add a five year unit and filter warranty, and in our estimation, you’ve got a winner. And by the way, the carbon in this air cleaner (and its older brother the regular size Healthmate Plus) is even stronger than their Pet Machine, which is larger and costs more.

Second choice with great reviews for value, is the tried and true favorite Winix 9500 Ultimate Pet Air Cleaner. This unit also has a great HEPA filter for all those tiny pet dander particles, a good amount of odor absorbing carbon, a remote, and electronic dust & odor sensors, all for around $289. And, it handles up to around 300 square feet with one unit, and filters last about a year. All that for under $300 is hard to beat, unless you have some strong cat, dog, or other animal odors. This unit does help some with odors, but there isn’t enough carbon to really tackle tough pet odors or last very long (since carbon gets used up over time, too). But if you want to remove the dander and odors aren’t too bad, the Winix 9500 Ultimate Pet Air Cleaner can be a great choice.

The third best-reviewed unit for pets under $500 would be the Blueair 203 with the Gas &Odor Smokestop Filter. Blueair is known around the world as a super high-quality air purifier that is effective, well made and very quiet. Their HEPA filtration is as good as it gets, removing over 99% of particles as small as 0.1 microns. If your pet doesn’t create that much in the way of odors, you can buy the standard Blueair 203 with the particle filter (no carbon) for about $329. This unit handles about 200 square feet with one unit, and filters last about 8 months. If you have tough cat, dog, bird or other pet odors, you can add the powerful G.O. Smokestop filter, with strongly activated carbon for another $70 and still get out for less than $400. Some pet owners like the Swedish design and quietness of this unit and prefer it over the others—depends on what style of pet air purifier you like, how quiet it needs to be and how often you want to replace filters.

  33. Still Got Pet Allergies? You May Be Breathing Pet Dander from Your Air Conditioning Ducts

If you’re a pet owner, you most likely go to a lot of trouble to keep your house clean and free of excess pet dander and hair, which help to keep you from breathing it, reduces allergies, etc. But if you’re doing a good job of cleaning, but still have allergies, the dander and hair could still be in your air and causing a problem. Where is it coming from? It’s likely that small hair and dander particles are being regularly released from your air conditioning ducts.

Air conditioning ducts are notorious for accumulating all sorts of home dust, dust mites, mold spores, as well as the dander & hair from cats, dogs, and other indoor animals. These particles get trapped there because they are too small for an A/C filter to stop them, and because the air is usually slightly moist from the condensation on the coil, which makes them sticky. Over time, those sticky particles attach and build up on the inside walls of your ducts, but then dry out a little on the surface, and some of it blows out of your vents when the air is turned on. And unless you have a quality electronic HEPA pet air purifier running, you’ll not only be cleaning up that dust later when it settles, but you’ll also be breathing it. Unfortunately, any dust you see on furniture or other household items is proof that this dust & dander is definitely in the air.

And this dust, dander, mold and other particles coming from the air ducts is also a major problem for those with chronic allergies, asthma, respiratory or related health problems, and often causes months or years of problems that people can’t seem to put their finger on–especially for those with indoor cats, dogs, birds, or other pets. Well, the secret is out, and this is where quality HEPA pet air filtration systems can make a huge difference, not only preventing allergy and asthma symptoms, but also sharply reducing cleaning time and costs. As you probably know, pet dander contributes to pet odors, as well, so stopping and trapping those dander particles coming from the air ducts can make a difference for pet odor control, too. Top rated pet air cleaners usually come with great activated carbon filters in addition to the HEPA filters, which removes odors and chemicals even more.

Portable electronic pet air purifiers have come a long way, and there’s more value and performance for the money than ever–if you know which units to buy. The best brands we’ve seen, with consistent top ratings for removing the most pet dander and odors are Aller Air, Austin Air, Blueair, and Winix, pretty much in that order for effectiveness. IF you stick with the Aller Air 5000 Vocarb, Austin Pet Machine or Healthmate Plus, Blueair 450E or 650E, or Winix 9500 units, you’ll be able to remove about 99% of that dander hair and odors that comes from your air vents. Just check the amount of square footage the unit covers and select a pet air cleaner that covers the areas where you spend time most–and you may need more than one for proper coverage. Even if you do need more than one unit, these air cleaners will pay for themselves with all the reductions in cleaning time and products, allergy medications, fewer doctor visits, and more. And you’ll probably sleep better.

  34. Does Your Indoor Pet Have Allergies? You May Be Able to Stop It With An Air Purifier.

If your pet has allergies, especially those of the sinus or respiratory type, your indoor air may be the culprit. Dogs, cats, birds and other animals have allergies and sensitivities to various airborne agents, dust, dust mites, chemicals, mold spores, and other pollutants, just like humans do. Most indoor pets are constantly picking up dust and dander on their feet and spreading it around, scratching their eyes and everywhere else, which easily causes skin and eye irritation. And since our indoor pets are often breathing the same air that we are, they’re inhaling a dose of that dust and other pollutant-loaded air on a daily basis, too. Believe it or not, our human dander (skin flakes, hair fragments, etc) is often an irritant for animals. Keep in mind, too, that our pets can sometimes be even more sensitive to pollutants than we are, so just because we aren’t experiencing allergies at the moment doesn’t mean there’s not something in the air affecting them.

The best way to make an quick improvement for any indoor pet that has allergies is to clean up the air. By using a top-rated electronic HEPA air purifier, you can easily remove over 99% of any airborne dust, dander, hair, or other particles that might be in the air, without even having to spend money testing the air. And if you buy an air purifier with a good amount of top-quality activated carbon, that will really help remove any odors or chemicals in the home that might be bothering your pet, too. By continuously removing the pollutants from the air, there will be a lot less dust to settle on furniture and floors, which is less for them to spread around with their feet, and thereby, less for them to get into their eyes, skin and other areas–which may improve allergies skin conditions, too. And since you’ll be spending less on pet allergy medications, trips to the vet, cleaning supplies, etc, if you think about it, the savings might actually be enough to pay for the pet air purifier!

You do, however, want to make sure that you don’t buy a cheap air cleaner and expect it to really clean the air. Those cheap air purifiers found at most department stores simply do not have the same HEPA filters or activated carbon filters, or enough power to circulate the air enough to clean it well. In fact, quite a few cheap or inexpensive air purifiers don’t have seals around the filter or have lower quality particle filters, and can even increase allergies because they’re allowing particles to get through. If you stay with top-rated air purifiers, you’ll be able to remove and control any dander, hair, odors or other household pollutants that are bothering your cat, dog, bird or other pet.

The best pet allergy air purifier brands we have found are Aller Air, Blueair, Austin Air, and Winix. Many of these quality purifiers don’t say ‘pet air purifier’ but do contain the proper HEPA and activated carbon filters, as well as a good strong output to effective clean the air in your home. Many air cleaners that are called ‘pet air purifiers’ do sometimes have better features, such as more carbon, negative ions, or even antibacterial plastic (such as Winix 9500 units), but the main thing to make sure of it proper HEPA & activated carbon filters and a strong output of 200 CFM or more. That way, you’ll know that the allergy-causing pollutants will be removed from the air and you’ll be making a difference for your pet.

  35. It is estimated that 45% of dogs and 58% of cats in the U.S. are overweight. There are several factors that perpetuate this. Understanding these factors and making small changes to help your pet alter habits will help your pet maintain and become healthier.

Free Feeding: This occurs by giving access to food all day long. It is convenient and is appropriate for many cats. The problem is that some cats eat too much when getting unlimited access and either regurgitate or simply pack on the ounces that eventually turn into pounds.

Treats: These little things are loved by all, but can add additional calories that add up quick.

Lack of Exercise: Although an indoor cat outlives their outdoor counterpart, the trade-off is that they can become sedentary with inactivity and once again add the ounces that just do not leave. If your dog only walks outside, not runs or darts, they also will not burn off extra calories.

Regular play and exercise can make your cat or dog become trim and therefore healthy. Promote active play whether using a laser pointer, a motorized mouse, cat tunnel, or place for them to jump. A tranquil video of birds or squirrels on the animal network will capture their attention. Anything interactive, even for their treats or food stimulates. As always, your Veterinarian should be consulted if there is sudden weight loss as this could be an indicator of other issues.

Reduce the calories through awareness. Review the diet formulation of your pet’s food. By decreasing the amount of food by 30% and feeding three – five times a day will maintain their diet yet add an element of control to their binging. There are automatic dispensers that are available and ultimately pay for themselves with the change of habit and health of your pet. Change up where their food is placed so they have to move downstairs or up to get from their favorite place to sleep to eat.

There are healthy supplements that will provide your pet with their special treat yet also supply other nutrients that will have a bonus effect for their hair coat, their mobility, their teeth, etc. There are also healthy pet foods that allow you to add in ingredients such as vegetables to provide missing nutrients in traditional foods.

  36. Why Pet Air Purifiers Don’t Work—Or Don’t Seem To

Many people buy pet air cleaners, obviously, to get rid of pet dander and odors. Often, however, some complain that the unit doesn’t work, especially when it seems like the unit isn’t removing the odors very well. And this goes for many of the top-rated air cleaners, too, with the best HEPA and carbon filters that money can buy. What’s going on? Are these top-rated air purifiers not really that good? Is all the advertising about pet air purifiers just a bunch of…hype?

Not really. In some cases where the air cleaner doesn’t have true HEPA and quality carbon filters, no, it’s not going to do well for removing that tough cat and dog smell or the tiny hair and other dander particles. Usually, the REAL problems that cause people to think that a pet air cleaner isn’t working are one or more of the following:

    1) there is too much constant pet dander and odor from pets urinating and pooping on floors and carpets, and not enough daily, effective clean up, vacuuming, etc. This often happens with multiple pets.
    2) the indoor humidity is too high, causing the odors and dander particles to linger longer and stick to walls and other surfaces because of the extra moisture in the air
    3) the air cleaner doesn’t have a large enough capacity or output to cycle the odor-filled air before it can get to your nose. Or, you’re trying to cover a space larger than the air purifier is designed for, which again, causes some of the odor and dander to get to your nose before the air cleaner can remove it.
    4) The carbon filter is saturated and can’t absorb any more odors—if that’s the case, the air cleaner is going to be circulating odor-filled air because the carbon can’t remove the organic chemicals that cause the odors anymore and lets them blow right through. And you smell them more because of the extra circulation without the odor molecules being removed.

That said, if you don’t want to or can’t thoroughly clean every day, you’ll probably just need a few more portable air purifiers to remove the extra pollutants being released into the air. And if odors are a problem, you really want to add Febreze Pet to your grocery list, as it’s been shown to be very effective at getting rid of those extra pet odors when the air cleaner seems to leave a little bit in the air. If you have multiple pets or just a lot of dander and odor from one pet, don’t buy a small pet air cleaner—get one with a little more output, like 200-400 CFM minimum or it won’t be able to cycle the air fast enough and you’ll think it’s not working because the odors or dander got to your nose before the air cleaner could remove them.

Lastly, keep an eye on your filters—they really have to be changed regularly, especially the carbon filters. When you first start smelling lingering pet odors again, think about how long that carbon filter has been in the air purifier and if it’s been more than 6-8 months, you might want to change it, wash it, or whatever the manufacture suggests. Pet air cleaners do work well, and when used correctly, they can really help keep your home odor, dander, and allergy free.

  37. Holiday Awareness:
There are several obstacles for our pets that pop up around the holidays and the importance of vigilance cannot be understated. The list below provides just some of the small problems that can lead to an ill pet.

First are Toxins at the table. Chocolate contains two stimulants, caffeine and Theobromine each with the potential to make your dog very sick. Candy is not the only culprit. Hot chocolate, cookies, cakes, anything made with chocolate, have been known to cause problems.

Second is Tinsel. If a dog or cat swallows these shiny strands, they can get bunched up in their intestines, potentially leading to a blockage that can prove fatal. Ribbons pose a similar threat.

Third are holiday lights. The strands of light pose risks of burning and electrical shock when our pet pulls and ultimately bites into the string.

Fourth are pine needles that fall. The needles are chewed and gnawed off of the tree or picked up as boredom or interest is heightened. These needles can cause gastrointestinal upset, as do other plants such as mistletoe, poinsettias, and holly.

Fifth is the tree water. The ingestion of the water introduces preservatives that do harm to your pet. It is important to keep the area covered so they do not have access.

Sixth are the ornaments. Glass, wool, or metal ornaments when chewed can cause indigestion or injury from the mouth through the intestines.

Solutions may be something as easy as a pet gate around the tree or in a doorway when you are not at home or your pet is in the area. It is not easy to pet proof your tree area and take away from the ambience of the room, but handling a sick pet and follow-up health issues is unnecessary with prevention.

  39. Air Purifiers for Dog Hair: HEPA Filters More Important Than Carbon for Allergy Relief

When you’re trying to remove airborne dog hair to cut down on allergies, one of the first things you think of is to buy an inexpensive air purifier. And that’s a smart move because most air purifiers will do a fairly good job of removing the dog hair from your home, rooms or other indoor spaces. There are a couple of important considerations, however, that can make a big difference in how much relief you actually get and how much you have to spend: 1) the quality of the filters, and 2) the output or cubic feet of air that the unit is cleaning, per minute (CFM).

First, buying an inexpensive or cheap air purifier usually means you’re going to get air cleaning that is ‘ok’, but still leaves some of the hair, dust, and dander in the air for you to breathe. This is because the filters are usually not up to true HEPA standards and the filters sometimes do not fit snugly in the unit and that allows polluted air to blow around the filters and out into your room. To control or prevent allergies from dog hair (and dander), you have to remove the larger hairs and all of the tiny hair fragments—and the only way to do this consistently is to use a true HEPA filter that has been tested to remove well over 99% of all particles down to 0.3 microns in size.

Second, the output of the pet air purifier or whatever air cleaner that you choose needs to be at least 200 CFM or so. Many people buy a pet air purifier that is too small for the room or amount of air to be cleaned, with an output that is less than 200 CFM. That means the unit cannot cycle all of the air fast enough to remove all of the dog hair before you breathe it, which means it won’t help your allergies very much. It is best to buy an air cleaner with at least 200 CFM (more if possible) because the air purifier will then be able to cycle all of the air in an average 10×10 room in about 4 minutes, which is fast enough to make a difference.

A third consideration is that if you don’t really have a lot of odors, you don’t need a pet air purifier with a lot of carbon, so don’t pay for that extra filtration if you don’t need it. There are several excellent, top-rated HEPA air purifiers that are much cheaper or inexpensive, such as Blueair and Winix, that do an excellent job of removing dog or other types of pet hair without spending 30-40% more on heavy carbon filters. Our two best recommendations for the most affordable air purifiers for dog hair are the Blueair 403 and the Winix P450–both of which have excellent HEPA filters, a strong output, have cheap replacement filter costs, and don’t cost a fortune. If you stay with the best top-rated air purifier brands such as Blueair, Winix or Aller Air and choose the HEPA versions for hair, dust, & dander removal, you’ll save a lot of money and get a lot more allergy relief.

Air Purifiers and Cleaners.com sells only the very best, top-rated air purifiers for pets with certified HEPA filters that are laboratory tested for over 99% removal of hair, hair fragments, and dander produced by dogs, cats, and other animals–all at cheap discount prices with free shipping, every day, due to our extremely low overhead situation! 40. It’s football season! If you’re a sports enthusiast, you understand the euphoria. Where does that leave your pet? Don’t risk tuning him or her out unknowingly because your passion is directed to the games. Your pet could feel ignored or left out.

On the other hand, what could be more bonding for you and your pet than games? Let your pet get all geared up just like you do.

Fido ‘n Fluffy have the whole nine yards of “pet gear” and paraphernalia: team jerseys, cheerleading outfits, tug toys, you name it. Give your team the extra ‘oomph’. (The cute assault is powerful!) http://FidoNFluffy.com

  41. It’s football season! Many of you are football fans. Strike that. Many of you are football fanatics! You follow the games with such intensity, you may not even be aware that you’re taking time and attention away from your pets. A smattering of guilt (not even Fido or Fluffy) is tugging at you. Instead of tuning them out, tune them in!

For one, adorn them with NFL pet gear and support your team together. This will even fortify the bond of friendship and love between you and your pet. (It’s not rocket science.) NFL Dog Jerseys are popular.

Needless to say, Fido ‘n Fluffy have the whole nine yards: jerseys, cheerleading outfits, team bandana collars, matching collars and leashes, and field tug toys. Prices are friendly, too. (By the way, how much is a hot dog at the stadium?) Kidding aside, check out your team gear … http://www.FidoNFluffy.com

  42. Removing Cat Odors: Four Steps to Cleaner, Fresher Air.

Removing cat odors can be really tough sometimes, and quite embarrassing when friends or family visit. Not to mention the fact that cat odors (especially cat urine odors) are actually airborne chemical and particle pollutants that also cause more frequent allergy, asthma, & respiratory issues. So, you clean, change the air conditioner filter, bathe the cat regularly, even buy a pet air purifier–and the odors are still there. What’s the problem? Take it from someone who has had indoor cats for many years, removing cat odors requires a four step process—and the correct four steps can make all the difference.

First, obviously regular vacuuming and mopping of areas where the cat goes most often is very important, including using a litter with a combination of three elements–carbon, baking soda and zeolite to effectively absorb cat urine odor. And of course, cleaning out the litter box every day. Second, wipe down furniture and spray the air once a day with Febreze Pet spray—the only spray that actually has the right technology that chemically blocks odor molecules—and wipe their paws with an antibacterial wet wipe once a day. Three—limit where the cat goes, since wherever they go, like it or not, they will mark furniture, walls, and other items with saliva and oil from their coats, spread dander particles (including tiny litter box particles) and all of that contributes to odor. And fourth, buy an air purifier that has a true HEPA filter, several pounds of activated carbon, and negative ions, if possible. The HEPA filter will remove the thousands of tiny airborne cat hair, dander, & particles that contribute to odor, the activated carbon filter, with enough activated carbon, will remove the airborne chemicals that come from cat urine and other odor causing molecules. And, the negative ions destroy bacteria and other things that cause odors, freshening the air and naturally reducing allergies & other respiratory issues by increasing the efficiency of the other filters.

For the best cat odor air purifiers that feature all of the above—true HEPA filter, activated carbon filter and negative ions—we recommend Blueair air cleaners. They are highly effective for removing cat dander & urine odors, and amazingly quiet. So if you take all four steps above, and use one or more Blueair air cleaners, 650E for larger rooms, 203 for smaller rooms, you will soon notice very little cat odor. And for a couple more small tips: install an air conditioner filter that is allergy rated and has carbon in it for a little extra odor removal power, and keep your indoor humidity around 40% to keep odors from lingering.

Air Purifiers and Cleaners.com is your best source for top-rated pet air purifiers that are proven for removing cat and other pet odors caused by dander, urine, litter, etc, such as Blueair, Austin Air, and other air cleaners. 44. Best Air Purifiers for Pet Dander & Odor: Look For Features First, Names Second

When looking for the best air purifiers for pet dander & odors, on the surface it may seem like there are only a few air purifiers to choose from, those that are called specifically ‘pet air cleaners’, etc. While some pet air cleaners do have some extra features, such as antibacterial properties in the construction of the unit and filters, what’s more important is to look for the main functional features the air purifier provides—mainly, the quality of the type and quality of filters, the output of the unit, and whether it provides negative ions or not. These are the features that affect the air cleaner’s performance the most, and will largely determine whether an air cleaner works well for removing dander & odors well—or not.
First, top-rated air purifiers such as Aller Air, Austin Air, and Blueair all have quality HEPA filters that consistently remove well over 99% of all dander, hair & dust produced by cats, dogs, birds, and other indoor animals, as well as all the ‘normal’ dust found in your home that often causes your pet to have allergies, too. And they normally have an output of anywhere from 200 CFM to 400 CFM or more, which allows for fast air cleaning so you don’t breathe the pollutants first.

These same air cleaners also come with anywhere from 4-36 pounds or more of super-activated carbon that effectively removes pet odors, such as cat or dog urine. They use carbon in cat litter because it removes odor, so it makes sense that an air cleaner with more carbon would probably remove and control pet odor better. Blueair air purifiers also produce healthy negative ions (OH-, not ozone), which easily kill bacteria and viruses in the air, increase the efficiency of HEPA filters, and help freshen the air, and this is one reason that a lot of people with high levels of cat, dog, or bird dander, dust & odors in their homes choose Blueair—because they provide HEPA, activated carbon, and the negative ions, for incredibly effective pet air cleaning. No, Blueair doesn’t have a unit that is specifically called a pet air filtration system but if you consider the important components, you can see why they are chosen quite frequently for removing pet dander & odors.

AllerAir, and Austin Air, however, have a lot more carbon, for even more powerful pet odor control and removal. Air purifiers such as the Aller Air 5000 Vocarb, or Austin Air Pet Machine, will have anywhere from 15 to 18 pounds of activated carbon for superior odor control and removal. Again, don’t feel like you don’t have much to choose from regarding pet air cleaners. All you have to do to make an excellent purchase is to make sure the unit has high quality HEPA and carbon filters, a strong output of at least 200 CFM or more, and negative ions, if possible. The negative ions aren’t mandatory; they just help with heavy concentrations of odors & dander. One other thing to consider is the warranty—all of the units we’ve mentioned here have anywhere from 5 years to a lifetime warranty—that can be important, not only for protection if something does go wrong with the air purifier or filters, but it also says something about the quality of the units.

Air Purifiers and Cleaners.com is your #1 source for the best deals on quality, top-rated air purifiers that are proven in research to reduce allergies, asthma, and other problems caused by cat, dog, bird and other animal dander & odors. 47. Remove Pet Dander & Prevent Allergies with a Quality Pet Air Purifier

It’s pretty well known that pet dander is a leading cause of allergies for people with indoor pets. And, our pets are often allergic to some of the same things we are, like house dust, and human ‘dander’ (skin flakes, hair, etc) since those things are foreign to their systems too. But just installing a better filter in your air conditioner isn’t enough to remove all of this allergy and asthma-causing dander, mainly because dander includes tiny hair, dust, fecal & other particles, as well as odor molecules, and all of these are too small for even the best HVAC filters to catch. To trap those tiny dust and dander particles requires a true HEPA filter, and to really remove or control the odors, you’ll need an activated carbon filter with several pounds of carbon—filters usually not found in cheap air purifiers. And, the air cleaner had better have an output of at least 200-300 CFM or you’ll be breathing the pollutants before the air cleaner can remove them, because the unit can’t cycle the air fast enough.

The best place to find that effective HEPA / activated carbon filter combination and strong output is in quality portable electronic pet air purifiers. Top-rated brands like Aller Air, Austin Air, Blueair and Winix, all offer air purifiers with these powerful HEPA and carbon filters, and they have specific units to fit or work in just about any size room of your home or office. Some of these pet air cleaners like Blueair and Winix also feature negative ions that help purify the air and control odors even more effectively. All you have to do is figure out how much square footage you need to cover, match that up with the quality pet air purifier of your choice, and you could be enjoying pollutant, dander & odor free air in your entire room or home in just a few hours. In fact, some of these units like Aller Air and Austin air have a powerful output of 400 CFM, which means they can remove over 99% of all the cat, dog, bird or other animal dander from an average room (10 x 10) in as little as 2-5 minutes! Sounds too easy? Well, it really is very easy to get rid of pet dander and stop cat, dog, or bird allergies, and odors—if you choose the right pet air cleaner.

You might even completely get rid of your allergy or asthma symptoms by just removing the dander, hair, and odors from your home or room, which will not only make you feel better but can severely reduce your allergy or asthma medication and even cleaning expenses. But this is only possible if you use a top rated pet air cleaner with true HEPA filters and several pounds of carbon—a cheap pet air cleaner with less than these type of filters simply will not clean the air as well, and you won’t get the allergy or asthma control & relief you’re looking for—and neither will your cat, dog, or bird. In our experience, it’s best to stick with the best performing air purifier brands like Aller Air, Austin Air, Blueair and Winix, and preferably the first three. Winix offers very good inexpensive electronic pet air purifiers and some have washable HEPA & carbon filters, but if you have tough odors, you’ll need the extra carbon found in Aller Air, Austin, and Blueair units. 48. Best Air Purifiers for Pet Hair: Three Key Features to Look For

Pet hair floating around in your home or room can be really aggravating, both to your allergies and to any guests that might be visiting. Cat hair becomes airborne more easily because the hair is lighter and thinner, making it easy for air to pick it up. Small dog hair fragments become airborne easily, as well. What many people do not think about, is that the hair also carries with it very small dander particles (skin flakes, oils, bacteria, etc) and those added pollutants actually make allergic reactions more severe and longer lasting.

As a result, many consumers look for an air purifier that will effectively deal with a pet hair problem, but often find that the unit doesn’t perform as well as they thought. From our experience, testing, and feedback from customers, there are 3 particular pet air purifier features that are important to look for when deciding which unit is the best air purifier for your cat hair, dog hair, or other pet hair situation:

    1) Don’t buy a unit that is too small or has an output that is too low—if the air cleaner isn’t cycling or moving enough air, what’s happening is that you’re breathing the cat or dog hair and hair fragments before the air cleaner can remove them. Choose an air cleaner with a minimum of 180-200 CFM for most rooms, and the higher the CFM output, the better.

    2) Make sure the air cleaner has a true HEPA filter, not HEPA style—without a true HEPA filter, the pet air purifier won’t be able to stop all the tiny, aggravating cat or dog hair fragments that can really stir up your allergies. HEPA style isn’t enough, either, since HEPA style filters (found in many cheap air purifiers) only traps 60-70% of particles and hair, leaving 30-40% in the air to aggravate your allergies. If you’re looking for an air cleaner for cat allergies, definitely make sure the unit has a true HEPA filter.

    3) Look for Healthy Negative Ions—choose an air purifier that generates healthy negative OH- ions, not ozone, because these ions can actually cause pet hair and hair fragments to fall out of the air, kill bacteria, and help with odors all at the same time—the best pet air purifier brands that include negative ions are Blueair and Winix.

Air Purifiers and Cleaners.com offers a great selection of the very best air purifiers for pet hair, pet allergies, pet hair, cat & dog dander & odors, from top-rated brands like Blueair and Winix. 49. Do your neighbors bug you about your dog barking? Ouch! ‘Want to be on the mailman’s side? You just might be working on a project and all of a sudden your dog barks and snaps you out of ‘the zone’.

Dogs are full of energy. Bark is what they do. But, like people, they can get carried away and yap at even the slightest thing. (When they do throwing a shoe at them, using a squirt gun, or shouting at them may cross your mind, but that makes you a terrorist.)

All levity aside, as is useful with people, behavior modification goes a long way. Using a system of beeps and mild electrical impulses, for example, signals your dog when and when not to bark. The DogTec Bark Control Collar provides just that. It gently and effectively delivers the combination of warnings and impulses that you adjust it to. You’ll find that in no time nuisance barking becomes a thing of the past.

Fido ’n Fluffy has the DogTec Bark Control Collar, plus a variety of other training aids at just the right price. Come see what we have … http://FidoNFluffy.com

  51. Cat or Dog Hair Problem? Make Sure Your Pet Air Cleaner Has a Pre-Filter

Cat hair, dog hair and other animal hair floating around is never a good thing. And many people buy a pet air purifier to get rid of it, only to find that they are replacing filters every 2-3 months or sooner, which gets expensive. The problem is usually, that the air cleaner chosen does not have a pre-filter, which stops the larger hair and other dust or dander particles from prematurely clogging up the HEPA filter, restricting air flow. Many air purifiers sell a cheap unit, say it’s good for pets, but don’t include that all-important pre-filter, and that’s where they make their money on you—all the extra filters. These air purifier manufacturers aren’t ignorant to the importance of pre-filters, but they’re hoping that you are.

Well, sorry guys, but we’re telling everybody because it just isn’t right. Pet air cleaners, and any other air cleaner for matter, that doesn’t have a pre-filter will have prematurely clogged HEPA and carbon filters and much higher filter replacement costs. And about 65% of pet dander is in the larger particle range of 3-10 microns, which means that pet dander and hair will clog up a HEPA or carbon filter even faster than normal house dust. So, if you don’t want to be running up your credit card bill replacing filters for your pet air purifier, it’s best to choose a top-rated unit that includes pre-filters, and a few other key features. Some of the very best air purifiers for cat & dog hair that we’ve found are the Austin Pet Machine, Aller Air 5000 Vocarb, and the Winix 9500 Ultimate Pet Air Cleaner, all of which have a pre-filter, quality HEPA filters, and enough carbon to take care of pet odors, too. If the cat, dog or bird odors you have are pretty strong, we recommend the Pet Machine and 5000 Vocarb as most effective pet air cleaners for urine odors since they have a lot more carbon and remove odors very well. The Pet Machine and 5000 Vocarb also can handle 1500 square feet with one air cleaner, and the filters last 3-5 years.

To be fair, not all pet air cleaners with pre-filters are the same, either. For cat hair, dog hair or other animal hair, it’s best that the pre-filter be composed of an electrostatic woven material, as the electric charge created as air flows through helps the hair, dander, and other larger particle stick to the pre-filter better, which means less gets through to clog the HEPA filter. Aller Air and Austin air cleaners have this type of pre-filter. The Winix pre-filter is a good one, but not electrostatic. Another important feature to look for when deciding which pet air purifier to buy, is the output. For quick and effective continuous air cleaning, it’s best that the air purifier have an output of anywhere from 200-400 CFM, which means it will over 99% of the hair and other dander floating around in a room every 2-5 minutes. Any CFM less than about 180-200 isn’t going to clean the air fast enough, and you’ll have to run the air cleaner on high most of the time, which will wear it out and increase your power bill. Again, the Pet Machine and 5000 Vocarb are best because they have an output of 400 CFM. The Winix WAC9500 is acceptable, too, at around 200 CFM, and it’s quite a bit cheaper.

  52. Top 3 Pet Air Purifiers for Dander, Odors, Allergies

Sometimes it can be tough finding the right pet air purifier that truly removes the dander & odors that cause the majority of allergies. And many times, pet owners purchase a highly-advertised air cleaner that claims to be effective, but sadly just doesn’t perform, which leads to wasted time and money and having to buy another air cleaner, hoping that one will work. When it comes to choosing a quality room air purifier that is effective for use with cats, dogs, birds, or other pets, playing ‘the guessing game’ isn’t necessary if you know what to look for and stay with top-rated, highly reviewed brands and units.

In all of our testing, reviews, in-home evaluations and customer responses, there are 3 pet air purifiers that continue to rate at the top of the charts—and for good reason:

#1 The Austin Pet Machine: This pet air cleaner comes with all of the necessary features and air purification power to truly clean the air in your home, room or wherever your cat, dog, or bird spends their time. The Austin Pet Machine includes a medical grade HEPA filter that removes over 99% of dust, dander, fecal matter, hair, and other particles as small as 0.3 microns, and over 95% of particles as small as 0.1 microns—on the first pass. A human hair is about 50-100 microns in diameter, so you see this HEPA filter removes those super tiny, more dangerous allergy and illness causing dander particles, including bacteria. The Pet Machine also comes with 15 pounds of super-activated carbon & zeolite, which removes urine and other pet odors and chemicals better than any other pet air purifier. And, the Austin Pet Machine has an output of 400 CFM or cubic feet per minute, which means it will clean all of the air in an average size room every 2 minutes. And, it can handle up to 1500 square feet with one air cleaner. Filters last anywhere from 3-5 years, and warranty is for 5 years on both the unit and filters. This amazing unit, regarded by many (including us) as the very best pet dander air purifier value is also affordably priced at just $594.99 (with free shipping from our store).

#2 The Aller Air 5000 Vocarb: this air cleaner has air cleaning power and quality construction like the Austin Pet Machine, but includes more activated carbon and the ability to add UV light air purification for even more protection from any bacteria, viruses or other airborne germs commonly found in cat, dog, and bird dander. This pet air cleaner comes with a medical grade HEPA filter that easily removes over 99% of the dander, dust, hair, etc., created by most pets, plus 18 pounds of super-activated industrial-grade carbon that removes odors, chemicals, VOC’s, even better than the Pet Machine. And, the Aller Air 5000 Vocarb has an output of 400 CFM, as well, so it will remove over 99% of all dust, dander, urine and other odors in a normal size room (10×10) every 2 minutes. The filters last anywhere from 3-5 years with this air cleaner, as well. The 5000 Vocarb can also handle up to 1500 square feet with one air cleaner. Warranty is 10 years. This super-powered air cleaner does an excellent job of cleaning the air, much like the Pet Machine but removes odors a little better, but costs a little more–$799.98 or $999.98 with the UV light option, again with free shipping from our store. If you’re looking for the best air cleaner for cat urine odor, for example, we would recommend the 5000 Vocarb over the Pet Machine.

#3 Blueair 650E: Blueair has some incredible technologies that enable their air cleaners to remove pet dander and odors like no other. Their HEPA filter is a special type of woven poly fiber that does not create any off-gassing or release any odor, which can be important for those with extra sensitivities, allergies, asthma, etc. And, the HEPA filter removes over 99% of all dust, dander, hair and other particles down to 0.1microns, so it’s extremely effective. The Blueair 650E also produces healthy negative ions (ozone free) that increase the HEPA filter’s ability to remove dust & dander even further, and kill bacteria & viruses on contact. Blueair’s patented SmokeStop carbon filter contains about 9 pounds of unique chemically-activated carbon that does an amazing job of removing cat, dog, bird, even urine odors. This air cleaner also has dust & dander sensors that automatically increase the speed and air cleaning power of the unit whenever these pollutants are sensed, then turns back down when removed—very important for those with severe pet allergies The Blueair 650E is one of the best air cleaners for pets, no doubt, but handles smaller rooms up to 700 square feet with one unit. Replacement filter costs are about the same as the Pet Machine or 5000 Vocarb, but the less expensive filters do need to be replaced every 6-8 months. Lifetime warranty is available, standard is 5 years. The Blueair 650E is another great pet air purifier value at $849.00, with free shipping, etc, and best suited for smaller rooms and those with severe allergies.

Air Purifiers and Cleaners.com offers a wide selection of the best rated pet air cleaners for cats, dogs, birds, and other animals, with proven dander & odor removing power and great warranties, including Aller Air, Austin Air, Blueair and others. We take pride in offering outstanding customer service before and after the sale, and you can count on getting the very best discount pricing possible, since we have very low overhead and happily pass those savings on to you.

  53. Best Air Purifiers for Cat Allergies: Aller Air & Austin Air

Cat allergies are no fun, whether experienced by the cat themselves or the owner. And the culprit is often the highly allergic dander produced by cats—the cat hair, skin dust, skin oils, urine odors, dander that includes litter and fecal particles, and more. And sometimes, the human ‘dander’, house dust, etc is what bothers them, too, since house dust typically contains about 200 live dust mites per gram of dust—one of the strongest allergens known to man and responsible for as much as 60% of asthma cases. Regardless, we could all do without all the sneezing, coughing, itching, wheezing, etc, but many times, it’s tough to find a pet air cleaner that is effective for cat allergies—one that consistently works, and lasts.

The reason most regular air purifiers don’t work that well for cat dander & allergies is that they do not have the necessary type or grade of filters needed, and generally don’t have enough output. Many of these cheaper, less effective units are found at Walmart, and are advertised well, but simply don’t perform well. To remove cat dander and odors effectively you must have a true HEPA filter that removes particles down to 0.1 microns, several pounds of activated carbon, not a thin foam sheet, a good pre-fitler to remove larger hair & dust particles, and a strong output of anywhere from 200-400 CFM or higher. That said, the best HEPA air purifiers for cat allergies, that we have found, that have all of these features above, are from Aller Air and Austin Air, with anywhere from 12-36 pounds of activated carbon, which makes them super-effective for removing cat odors. And the output is at least 400 CFM with both Aller Air and Austin Air units, which means that they will completely clean up the air in most any room in 2-5 minutes.

Again, don’t be fooled by all the advertising put out by these department stores and other stores claiming to have air purifiers that are good for cat dander & allergies. If the units don’t have all of the features listed above, they simply will not have the ability to clean the air as well as an Aller Air or Austin Air unit. For Aller air units, we recommend the 5000 or 6000 vocarb units and for Austin Air, either the Austin Pet Machine or Healthmate Plus. All of these HEPA air cleaners will make a noticeable difference in any cat allergy & asthma symptoms, and overall indoor air quality in as little as 24-48 hours. If you buy a quality pet air purifier, with a proven reputation for effectiveness and value, you won’t have to buy another air cleaner for many, many years—and you’ll get results, not advertising hype.

Air Purifiers and Cleaners.com is your #1 source for the best air cleaners for cat & dog allergies, with powerful HEPA and carbon filters to truly clean the air, not just blow it around. Along with excellent customer service, you can count on getting the very best, cheapest discount prices because we are an online store with extremely low overhead—and we pass those savings on to you. 54. Got Pet Dander, Odors? Think UV Light Air Cleaner!

Many pet owners deal with pet dander and odors on a daily basis, and some buy portable air cleaners to help filter these pollutants out of the air. In many cases, however, the sinus infections, allergies, and odors are still present. What’s going on? Likely, there is a lot of dander and other odor-producing particles stuck in the duct work and every time the central air conditioner turns on, it blows out some of these particles into every room in your home. And unless you have a portable air cleaner with a lot of carbon running in every room, there’s a good chance that you’ll breathe and smell these odors and other pollutants before the air purifier can get to them. And many of these particles coming out of the HVAC ducts and vents are actually loaded with live bacteria, mold spores, fecal matter from the dander, etc—not something you or your family should be breathing.

This is where a good home HVAC UV light air purifier system can make a big difference. UV light, provided that it’s UV-C , not only kills any bacteria, mold spores, viruses or other duct-dwelling organisms on contact, but also produces a lot of healthy, negative OH- ions that further destroy bacteria and naturally freshen the air. Negative ions are present everywhere in nature, especially around waterfalls , when it rains, etc, and they create that fresh smell and relaxed feeling. These negative ions also cause particles to actually fall out of the air, and makes them easier for HEPA filters to trap them. Because of these benefits, a proper 2-bulb UV light air cleaner system mounted in the duct work is often the ‘missing link’ in truly getting rid of the last dust & dander particles and tough pet odors. Two things have been proven: UV light kills mold & bacteria, and destroying these organisms before they get out of the air conditioner ducts definitely reduces odors and improves home indoor air quality. A very smart air purification step, indeed.

All ultraviolet light air cleaners are not the same, however, so be very careful when selecting which one to buy. First, the bulbs must be true, laboratory grade 36 watt UV-C bulbs to have enough light units to kill the bacteria, mold and other organisms, and you need two bulbs placed 30 inches apart. This system gives you a proven kill rate of over 99%–any UV light systems with only one bulb or lower wattage bulbs will not provide enough light units to do the job. Second, ensure that the bulbs are mounted correctly in the HVAC or central air conditioner ducts—mount them on the output side of the inside air conditioner unit, after the coil. This is because many organisms live right on the cooling coil and get blown out into the ducts from there, and having the UV light air cleaner positioned after the coil ensures you’ll destroy those odor and allergy-producing dander, dust, and particles, too. Some people install the UV air cleaner on the input side and that allows pollutants being released the coil to get out into the ducts. One of the best UV light air cleaner brands to choose is APC, which features the laboratory strength, 2-bulb UV air purifier systems we mentioned above, with solid-state electronics, long-lasting bulbs, and an excellent track record of success. Most people find that they are breathing easier and sleeping better in as little as 24-48 hours after installing in the HVAC duct. So if you’ve tried everything and still have dander & odor problems, definitely consider installing a quality home UV light air purifier system. We think you’ll pleasantly surprised.

Air Purifiers and Cleaners.com offers the best HVAC duct mounted ultraviolet light air purification systems that are proven to kill over 99% of bacteria, mold and other organisms, freshen the air, and reduce allergies within 24-48 hours after installation.

And since we’re an online store with very low overhead, we are able to sell these amazing UV light air cleaners at the cheapest discount prices possible, with free shipping every day. 55. Best Air Cleaner for Dog Hair: Three Great Affordable Units

Dog hair can be such a nuisance, floating around in your home, bedrooms, kitchens, etc. You sweep, vacuum and mop two or three times a week and still you see that dog hair floating in the air when the morning sunlight shines through the window. And then you sneeze, cough, and the allergies kick in, again. Where does this dog hair come from? You vacuumed and cleaned pretty well, right? That excess dog hair comes from three main places: more from the dog, since indoor pets shed more hair when they are warm, hair stuck to furniture and walls that becomes airborne when you sit down or move it, and hair that has become stuck in air vents that blows some out every time the air conditioner starts up. Dog hair (and cat hair) easily becomes electrically charged—that’s how it sticks to furniture and walls, where you don’t always clean and when air blows across it, the hair can become airborne.

All of these dog hair sources are pretty tough to stop—can’t plug up the air conditioner vents, clean the walls and all your furniture every week, and you certainly don’t want to get rid of your dog or dogs. The next best solution is to grab a quality pet air purifier that is designed to quickly capture these floating hairs, and reduce cleaning time! The best air purifiers for pets come with high-quality HEPA filters and strong motors that can cycle all of the air in a room in 2-4 minutes! What is the best air cleaner for dog hair? We recommend 3 units: The Austin Pet Machine, The Blueair 650E, and the Winix 9500. All three have super-HEPA filters that trap not only large dust, dander, and hair particles, but also the more allergy & asthma aggravating smaller particles down to 0.1 microns, which is even small enough to trap most bacteria. And equally important, these pet air cleaners have good pre-filter systems that trap the larger particles before they prematurely clog up your HEPA filter—causing unnecessarily frequent and expensive filter changes.

That said, pet air purifiers without some kind of pre-filter system should be avoided. Also, any pet air purifier that claims it’s great for odors and doesn’t have several pounds of carbon should also be avoided, since activated carbon or zeolite are the only two types of media that really work to remove pet odors. If you stick with the three units we mentioned above, or possibly the Aller Air 5000 Vocarb series (which is an outstanding air purifier), you can be certain that well over 99% of all dog hair, dander, dust, and odors are removed every 2-4 minutes, period. These pet air cleaners are proven, and we highly recommend them over all of the other pet air purifiers we’ve tested.

Air Purifiers and Cleaners.com is your #1 source for the HEPA air purifiers for pet dander, cat hair, bird dust, urine odors & more–all at the cheapest discount prices possible with free shipping every day. We’re an online store with very low overhead, so you can rest assured that you’re getting the very best prices every time—it’s our policy to provide you with the very best air purifier deals available, with a safe, easy checkout and outstanding customer service. Period.

  56. Air Cleaners For Pet Urine Odor: Better Have Plenty of Carbon…

Many people are not only allergic to pet dander, but also to odors, which explains why they still have allergy attacks even after thorough vacuuming or using an air cleaner that only has a HEPA filter. Pet urine odors are some of the toughest odors to get rid of, primarily because of the compounds in the urine that release strong chemical gases & vapors, even when the urine is dry. And, when some of these compounds ‘sour’ or become oxidized from exposure to air, the smell can become even stronger. And cleaning isn’t always effective since some of these compounds adhere strongly to surfaces, making them hard to remove once dried. The other main factor in cat, dog, or other animal urine odors lingering after cleaning is the fact the animal often drips or smears small amounts of urine in hard to reach places, and it’s just about impossible to find them all. And of course, if the urine is stuck in a carpet, rug or piece of furniture, that’s very hard to ever completely get rid of.

To remove these odorous compounds from the air requires activated carbon, and plenty of it, in the form of a carbon filter in a top-rated pet air cleaner. Activated carbon granules used in this type of air cleaner filter are chemically ‘charged’ in such a way to cause these airborne VOC’s in pet urine to be attracted to them. As air passes by, the urine odors or chemical compounds are removed, which is how the odor is removed-the air is actually cleaned by the carbon. And by using a quality pet air purifier, you’ll also have a true HEPA filter that will remove over 99% of all of the dust, dander, hair, bacteria and other particles generated by from the air as well, all of which also contribute to odors.

Don’t get ripped off, however—there are a lot of air purifiers on the market, and many say they help with tough cat, dog, or other animal odors. The bottom line is this: if the air cleaner doesn’t have a lot of carbon or a smaller amount of super-activated carbon (like Blueair’s SmokeStop filter—only one that we know of like this), it will not be able to remove all of the urine or other odors because there isn’t enough carbon to trap the chemical compounds. And if there isn’t much carbon, even if’s pretty good quality, it won’t last long because carbon does become saturated. Cheap, thin sheet carbon filters are pretty much worthless, and if they do anything to remove odors, they’ll last a month or two and then need replacing way too often, costing you extra money unnecessarily. Pet air filtration units such as the Austin Pet Machine air purifier, Aller Air 5000 Vocarb, and Blueair 450E or 650E all contain not only high quality carbon that is proven to remove tough odors, even industrial chemicals, but they all contain ‘pounds’ of carbon, anywhere from 9-15 pounds or more, because these air purifier manufacturers know this is what it takes to remove urine and other odors from birds, cats, dogs or other animals. These air purifiers also have top-quality HEPA filters so you won’t have to worry about breathing any dander, hair, dust, etc. And, these filters last anywhere from 2-5 years depending on use, not 2-5 months—better deal, no question.

  59. Best Air Purifiers for Pet Odor: 3 Proven Brands-Austin Air, Aller Air, & Blueair

Pet odors are a real problem for many pet owners, and sometimes for visiting friends and family who are also sensitive or have allergies. And what many pet owners don’t think about is that many odors come from bacteria feeding on organic material, airborne feces and other dander particles, not just their scent glands or urine residue. Still, finding the right air purifier to remove pet odors effectively can be tough, as well, and if you’re not careful or don’t know what to look for, you’ll probably end up wasting your money on an air cleaner that just doesn’t work or doesn’t remove odors for very long. And then you’re stuck with an air purifier that doesn’t clean the air properly, and you still have your allergies to deal with.

Getting rid of pet odors is actually pretty easy if you have an air purifier that has the necessary features, such as enough activated carbon, a strong output, and possibly negative ions. Air cleaners from Austin Air, Aller Air, and Blueair come with all of these features plus great HEPA filters, and consequently, do a great job of removing pet odors, dander—and preventing allergies, asthma and respiratory problems for both the pet and the owners. The Austin Pet Machine comes with 15 pounds of carbon & zeolite blend that easily absorbs tough cat & dog urine odors, bird odors and smells from other animals.

Aller Air purifiers come with anywhere from 12 to 36 pounds or more of super activated carbon that also does a great job of removing pet odors and dander. And both of these air cleaner brands have an output of 400 CFM or cubic feet per minute. That means it will remove all of the pet odor, dander, hair & dust from an average room in about 3 minutes. That’s pretty quick—which means you and your family won’t have a chance to breathe those pollutants before the air cleaner can grab them. Blueair air purifiers also remove pet odors very well, with their patented G.O. Gas & Odor SmokeStop filter—less carbon but extra strong for absorbing tough chemicals and odors, even cigarette smoke odors. Blueair air cleaners also release healthy negative ions which further purify the air by destroying bacteria that cause many odors, and disintegrate many odor-causing organic compounds, as well. If you like the Blueair features and Swiss-styling, the 450E or 650E would be your best air purifiers for pet odors.

All so-called ‘pet air cleaners’ aren’t the same, however, so don’t be fooled. Bottom line is that first, purely ionic air cleaners with a thin foam carbon filter probably won’t do a very good job of removing the odors since there isn’t enough carbon to absorb the chemicals that cause the odors. And, if the output isn’t at least about 200 CFM, you’re most likely going to breathe or smell the odors before the air cleaner gets to them, and that’s defeating the purpose. For effective pet odor removal, it’s best to stay with Aller Air 5000 or 6000 series, The Austin Pet Machine or Healthmate Plus, or Blueair 450E or 650E. All of these are proven effective for removing tough cat, dog, bird and other pet odors, as well as over 99% of the allergy & asthma causing hair, dander and other particles, leaving you super-clean, odor free air every day.

  60. Pet Air Cleaners: Want Lower Vet Bills? Just Clean Up The Air They Breathe!

A lot of people don’t think about air quality affecting their pet’s health, but it really can. It’s pretty well known that dogs, cats, birds, and other animals can have allergies & respiratory issues, but indoor air quality is often forgotten as a source of the problem. But it makes sense, right? Our pets have skin, respiratory tissues, etc., just like us, so those tissues get irritated by the dust, dust mites, mold spores, human hair & dander, bacteria, chemical residues from cleaning products, solvents, carpets, treated wood, etc. And those vet bills that result from pet maladies aren’t fun—in fact, the visits and the medications can really get out of hand.

So, we shouldn’t be surprised to hear that research has recently shown that indoor pets with HEPA pet air purifiers running tend to have fewer allergies, respiratory problems, and less veterinary visits & medication costs. That’s right—using a quality pet air cleaner that removes all the dander, hair, & odors found in most households (with regular vacuuming & mopping, etc.) can reduce health issues and visits to the vet for indoor pets by over 65%. One of the best air cleaners for cat hair & urine odors, the Austin Pet Machine, has a medical grade HEPA filter and 15 pounds of super-absorbent activated carbon, and the filters last 3-5 years! The Winix WAC9500, another great pet air purifier, has HEPA filters, activated carbon for odors, and negative ions for an amazingly powerful and affordable solution to cat, dog, or bird dust, dander, & odors. Spend a little on a quality room air purifier designed for pets and save a on veterinary bills & allergy or other medications? Exactly.

Don’t be fooled by cheap air purifier claims, however—they usually aren’t made the same, don’t have the same filters, and won’t do the job—which means they’ll be a waste of your time and money. Choose one of the best air purifier designed for use with pets that has a true HEPA filter, a good amount of activated carbon, at the very least. And if the odors are a significant problem, or for best protection for your pet, choose either the Austin Pet Machine room air purifier or a Blueair 450E or 650E room air cleaner with a G.O. SmokeStop filter option. With your cat, dog, bird or other pet constantly breathing clean, dander & odor free air, you can bet they will feel better, have more energy, and won’t be sick nearly as often.

Air Purifiers and Cleaners.com offers the best selection of quality HEPA pet air purifiers for dust & dander, such as the Austin Pet Machine, Winix WAC9500, Blueair 450E, and many others—all at cheap discount prices with free shipping—every day. 61. Dust Collectors for Veterinary Offices, Animal Shelters, Boarding? Absolutely.

Pet or animal dander is a health hazard even with one cat or dog in the home. Veterinary offices and boarding facilities, however, have a multiplied hazard from the large number of animals they see, board or come in contact with on a daily basis. The dust at these types of facilities & offices creates an extra high health hazard because of the multiple types of bacteria & virus loaded dust particles and the extra amounts. And because of this increased health hazard from poor air quality (both dust & dander particles plus all the odors), it’s very important from a safety and OSHA compliance standpoint to have some kind of commercial grade dust collection system in place to remove those pollutants, thereby removing the health hazards and increased liability.

Why commercial grade dust extractors? Commercial dust & particle filtration systems usually have better, longer lasting HEPA filters that capture the ultra-fine toxic dust very well, and they have an output that is strong enough to clean the air in large spaces, such as large kennels, animal shelters, & boarding facilities fast enough to prevent employees and pets from breathing the dust & particles—and having a strong enough output can allow for proper air filtration in larger spaces with only one or two units. Electrocorp dust collectors like the Air Rhino 2000 can even be hung from the ceiling to save floor space. Electrocorp’s RSU series have both large amounts of carbon for effective odor & chemical removal as well as industrial grade HEPA filters to remove the allergy & potential illness causing dust & dander particles loaded with bacteria, viruses—a more complete air cleaning solution in one unit. Portable dust collectors are especially valuable since they can be moved around room to room or facility to facility for proper dust & particle control where needed. HVAC based dust collectors are excellent as well, since they can remove dust from the entire building with one unit.

Whatever shop or facility you have, it’s important to make sure that the air is filtered, but make sure that whatever dust collector you choose has the proper HEPA & carbon filters, strong output, and a pre-filter system. The pre-filters are highly important because they stop larger dust particles from prematurely clogging the HEPA & carbon filters and causing unnecessary, expensive filter replacements. That is one more reason we recommend Electrocorp portable dust extraction systems—they have good pre-filters that prevent this problem. Electrocorp also has a great 10 year warranty, which is long enough to handle anything that might happen to the unit or system—it’s rare that any Electrocorp dust collector needs repair, but if it does it would happen in the first 5 years typically, and with a 10 year warranty, you’re well protected. Regardless, if you want to ensure safety, minimize health problems, prevent OSHA fines and other liabilities and unnecessary costs in your veterinary office, animal shelter or boarding facility, consider a quality Electrocorp commercial dust collection system—it’s a one time purchase that will pay multiple dividends.

Air Purifiers and Cleaners.com is your #1 source for the best portable industrial dust collection units that are perfect for any warehouse, shop, or facility where pets & animals are kept—all at cheap discount prices with free shipping every day. If you have any questions about industrial or commercial dust control, or need a custom designed dust & particle extraction unit, give our experts a call toll-free at 1-800-701-2513. 62. Best Room Air Purifier for Birds: The Austin Pet Machine

Birds make amazingly fun and loving pets, but when the bird ‘dust’ or powdery skin & feather flakes become airborne, that can create severe allergies for the owners. Birds can create uniquely pungent odors, as well, and those odors can contribute to allergy & sinus problems, too. On the other hands, when your bird has allergies or respiratory problems from breathing house dust or other pollutants in their area or room, that’s a problem, as well—one that can cost you a bundle in vet bills and medication costs.

So the natural question to ask is: how or what affordable pet air purifier do I use to effectively clean up the air so that neither the bird nor the owners are affected by the bird dander (dust, feathers, fecal matter, odors, etc)? We have tested and evaluated a number of air purifiers & filtration systems for pets and one of the best performing, reasonably priced air cleaners that will quickly remove bird dust & dander and keep it out of the air is the Austin Pet Machine.

The Austin Pet Machine is literally one of the very best air purifiers for bird dust allergies for several reasons. First, the air cleaner comes with a true medical-grade HEPA filter that consistently removes 99.97% of dust & dander particles. Second, there is a 15 pound carbon & zeolite filter that is highly-absorbent and effectively removes odors & chemicals that cause allergies & respiratory problems. Third, the output is very strong—400 CFM (cubic feet per minute). That means the air cleaner will clean all of the air in a room every 2-5 minutes, removing allergens before you or the bird, for example, can breathe them—and this air cleaner handles up to 1500 square feet with one unit! And, there is a good pre-filter which extends the life of the HEPA and carbon filters, for maximum filter life and minimum filter replacement costs. Austin’s filtration system is unmatched for alleviating respiratory irritation, as well. If you want an affordable pet air cleaner for respiratory problems or allergies, the Austin Pet Machine is very hard to beat.

Finally, the Austin Pet Machine room air purifier is affordably priced under $600, not $1000 or more for some other portable air cleaners said to be good for use with pets. We highly recommend that you don’t’ waste your money on a cheap air purifier that doesn’t work nearly as well, however. Spend a little more up front and get quick results that last. Your bird and your allergies will thank you.

Air Purifiers and Cleaners.com offers the best selection of affordable & effective HEPA pet air cleaners, such as the Austin Pet Machine, and others—all at cheap discount prices with free shipping—every day. 63. Tarter on your pet’s teeth can lean to unhealthy gums. Good dental care and consistency in cleaning can prevent the tarter build up that can lead to the loose teeth and eventual decay and loss. Many Vets agree that brushing your Cat or Dog’s teeth at least three times per week will prevent a decline in their gum health and add years to their lift.

There are several dental care plans that can be introduced for your Cat or Dog. These range from use of a toothbrush with toothpaste to a water additive. As dental maintenance is introduced, there has to be patience and discovery as your pet learns. The simple rubbing of the gums with a rinse or gel will introduce your pet and let them understand there is nothing to fear. There are small finger brushes that are less invasive and frightening for your baby.

Periodontal Disease begins with a bacterial film called plaque just as with humans. When this bacteria attaches to the teeth and subsequently dies, it can be calcified and remain on the teeth as a hard, rough substance called tarter. While the plaque is initially soft and brushing or chewing hard food or toys can dislodge it, if left to spread, the plaque will lead to gingivitis, an inflammation of the gum. If the plaque and tarter buildup continues unchecked, the infection can form around the root of the teeth and loosen the teeth.

Periodontal Disease affects the whole health of your cat or dog and how they function, play, and interact on a daily basis. Promoting good oral hygiene will add 3-5 years to you Cat’s or Dog’s life.

While chew or dental toys offer additional help to help in the hygiene of your pet’s teeth, they are not always the best answer and should be used in combination with other products for a routine oral maintenance plan.

  64. A Luxurious Bed & Lounging Place for Your Pet

Any pet lover wants their pet to feel comfortable and happy. Pets tend to lounge around, and depending on your preferences you may have designated areas you like your pet to sleep. Whichever place tends to be your pet’s favorite lounging place, you can give them the best comfort and luxury possible while maintaining a clean environment for your family. Sheepskin rugs make for excellent lounging and sleeping areas for pets. What is nice about using sheepskin rug pet beds is that you can move the rug onto furniture doubling as a protective covering for your furniture and a warm and cozy place for your pet to lie.

Sheepskin rugs are often used as throw rugs in common living spaces allowing you to use your pet bed as a stylish and unique decorative accent in a room. Sheepskin is naturally soft, fluffy and plush making it a very nice cushioned bed for your pet to relax and sleep. Sheepskin rugs have many natural healing and medical benefits. Sheepskin can soothe arthritic joints, ease pressure points and provide orthopedic support for your pet. What is also great about sheepskin rugs is that the hollow fibers in the wool allow the material to breathe making it an all-season pet bet bed since it will be warm in the winter and cool in the summer. The other great element of using genuine organic sheepskin rugs for a pet bed is that, wool has a natural resistance to staining as the fibers are covered by a thin membrane that repels dirt and water. Sheepskin rugs are easy to clean and can be machine washed.

The wool in sheepskin rugs has many healing, therapeutic and medical benefits that add to your pet’s comfort level, but these health benefits are only found in genuine and all-natural sheepskin rugs. Sheepskin rugs are also flame-retardant due to the high moisture and protein content in the wool’s fibers. Fake or faux sheepskin might look similar to organic sheepskin rugs however they are made from synthetic, man-made materials that do not offer any of the health benefits that comes with all-natural 100% genuine sheepskin rugs.

There is no other material that will keep your pet more comfortable than genuine sheepskin rug pet beds. If you suffer from allergies and are careful with your pets fur, genuine all-natural sheepskin rugs are considered hypoallergenic. 65. Pet Got Allergies? Clean Air Helps Them, Too!

Do you have a cat, dog, bird or other animal with allergies or respiratory problems? Well, just like humans, it really could be the air they’re breathing. No, they’re probably not allergic to themselves, but they may be allergic to the airborne dust in the house (which contains 200 dust mites per gram of dust, one of the strongest allergens on the planet), or human hair, skin flakes, or human ‘dander’—or they may be allergic or have respiratory sensitivities to the gases and vapors released by cleaning products, paints, solvents, etc. that are in almost every room of every home.

And just like humans with sensitivities or allergies to poor air quality, when you clean up the air with a quality air purifier, you’re likely to see your pet start to get some relief. And we do still recommend that pet owners purchase a pet air purifier, even if it’s the cat, dog, or bird that is having the allergies. Why? That’s because the best air cleaners for pet dander typically do a better job of cleaning the air in a room than many ‘normal’ air purifiers. Pet air purifiers come with excellent HEPA filters and usually a significant amount of odor and chemical-absorbing carbon that, together, do a better job of removing all allergens & dander, both particle and gas or vapor types.

One example of an excellent air purifier for cat hair & bird dust is the Austin Pet Machine, with a medical grade HEPA filter and 15 pounds of carbon for odors & chemicals. This air purifier can handle up to 1500 square feet with one unit and clean all the air in a room in about 2 minutes flat, as well—all of those excellent qualities make the Austin Pet Machine a great pet air cleaner value.

Cheap or low cost pet air purifiers, on the other hand, often do have a HEPA filter—but don’t have enough carbon or other absorbent material to really make any difference with tough odors like that ‘dog smell’ or cat urine odors. The low cost air cleaners also generally don’t have strong output, either, which means it won’t be able to filter all the air in the room before you can breathe it, which kind of makes the low cost pet air cleaner a waste of time and money. The other key factor is a good warranty—the best air cleaners for pets usually have a great warranty, too. Buying a better pet air purifier is a much smarter move as it will definitely remove well over 99% of all of the allergens and respiratory irritants that are probably giving your pet problems. True, you’ll pay a little more up front, but in the long run, you won’t have to deal with the allergies or replacing a low cost air cleaner several times because it broke down or didn’t remove the hair, dust, dander & odors like the advertising claimed it would.

Air Purifiers and Cleaners.com offers an excellent selection of the very best, most affordable pet air purifiers that truly clean the air with HEPA and heavy duty carbon filters so that you can eliminate allergies and respiratory problems the first time. And since we’re an online store, we have very low overhead. And that means cheap discount prices for you, with free shipping, too!

  66. Why the Best Air Purifiers for Pets Aren’t Sold in Major Stores

Ever wondered why the best air purifiers for pets only seem to be found at online air purifier stores, not at PetSmart, Petco, Walmart, or their websites, etc? There are several reasons, but one of the main reasons is the quality features and air cleaning power required to make an air purifier that is effective for use with pets increases the cost of production and that doesn’t leave as much room for profit as these big stores would like to have, i.e. the manufacturer can’t sell it to them as cheap as they want so the big stores don’t buy it.

Companies like Hunter, Germ Guardian, Homedic, etc sell very cheaply made air purifiers to these stores at very low cost, so the store can make a big profit—but comparing them to something like an Austin Pet Machine is like comparing an electric smart car to a Ford Mustang. Sure, the Austin Pet Machine costs more, but it cleans the air and removes urine & other odors and dander about 500 times better. And that’s because it has better quality HEPA filters that remove the cat, dog, bird or other animal dander, hair, bacteria, dust, dust mites, etc and 15 pounds of carbon that removes odors like a champ.

People that buy the low cost ‘pet air purifiers’ usually find that they do not remove odors very well at all, and their allergies are still just about as bad as before —and that’s because the cheap pet air cleaner is only doing a partial job of removing the airborne pet dander, dust, & odors from your room and circulating the rest of the pollutants. These low cost air purifiers usually have a low output, as well, which means that it takes 15-45 minutes to clean all of the air in a room—which means that you’re going to breathe a lot of the dander before the air cleaner can get to it. A couple of the best air cleaners for pets, such as the Austin Pet Machine or the Aller Air 4000 Vocarb both have an output of 400 cubic feet per minute—which means it removes over 99% of the pet dander & odors in an average room in every 2 minutes. Big difference.

And usually, the low cost air purifier sold at pet stores usually doesn’t last, which means you’ll have to replace it in 6-12 months. After a couple of replacements, you’ve spent about as much as you would have on a quality HEPA pet air cleaner that would last for many more years and do a far better job of removing the dander & odors that cause the majority of allergies, asthma, and respiratory issues. And if you’re looking to clean the air to help your pet with any allergies or respiratory problems they have, a quality air purifier for cat dander & odor, for example, will make a difference; the low cost air purifier from Petco or Walmart probably won’t. And by the way, you don’t want most of the electronic air cleaners with no HEPA filter, such as Oreck, etc—they don’t work as well, make more noise, and have been shown to create ozone, which is bad for you and your pet. The only electronic air cleaner with HEPA performance and no ozone is the Stadler Form Viktor, fyi.

Air Purifiers and Cleaners.com is your #1 store for the best air purifiers for cat, dog, bird and other animal dander & odors, with quality HEPA & carbon filters and excellent warranties.

And since we’re an online store with fewer expenses than most stores, we can offer you these amazing pet air cleaners and filters at cheap discount prices with free shipping every day!

  67. Best Air Purifiers for Pets: Austin, Blueair, and Aller Air

Many pet owners and allergy sufferers wonder which air purifier is best for pets, since there are so many air cleaners on the market, and a lot of different claims. In this article, we’d like to cut to the chase and give you some clear direction on which air purifiers have consistently rated highest in value and effectiveness so that you can enjoy your pets and have fewer allergies and respiratory problems (and less odors) when you’re around them.

The top three brands we’ve seen and tested are Austin, Blueair, and Aller Air. Winix does provide a good air purifier for pets, but it’s not super-effective for removing odors for more than about three months without changing the filter.

In first place is the Austin Pet Machine, one of the best air purifiers for pets with a HEPA filter for dander, hair, & dust control, a 15 pound carbon & zeolite filter for excellent pet odor removal, and a pre-filter to maximize the life of the other filters, plus a strong output of 400 cubic feet per minute. And, the Austin Pet Machine is made well, with solid steel construction and tough powder-coat finishes. Cost: $594. 5 Year warranty on the unit, AND a 5 year filter warranty (no other air purifier manufacturer does this). Filters last from 2-5 years, depending on use or amount of cat, dog, bird or other animal dander & odors present in the home or room. This pet air cleaner covers any home, room or other confined space up to 1500 square feet. The Austin Pet Machine is best suited for multiple pets, as well.

The #2 top-rated HEPA air cleaner for dog & cat dander is the Blueair 450E. Blueair does an amazing job of cleaning and removing dust, dander & particles with special HEPA filters that remove particles down to 0.1 microns, smaller than most HEPA filter that stop at 0.3 microns, which is better for severe allergy sufferers. The Blueair 450 also has a powerful gas & odor ‘smokestop’ filter option with highly activated carbon that does a great job of removing tough odors and chemicals from pets and other sources, and does a great job of removing smoke & cooking odors. The Blueair 450E also comes with a remote control and automatic sensors that will turn the unit on, off, or increase fan speed when dust, dander, hair, or odors are sensed. And, the Blueair 450E comes with attractive Swedish styling, steel construction, and a 5 year warranty. Filters last anywhere from 6 months to 1.5 years, depending on the amount of cat, dog, bird, or other animal dander & odors that are in the air. This unit covers rooms up to 375 square feet, and has an output around 240 CFM. So with the Blueair 450E, you get better dust, dander, hair control than most HEPA filters, excellent odor control, a remote and automatic sensors, but smaller room coverage. Cost: $629

And, in third place is the Aller Air 4000 Vocarb Air Cleaner. Much like the Austin Pet Machine, this amazing pet air purifier comes with a medical grade HEPA filter, a 12 pound super activated carbon filter, and a pre-filter system. The Aller Air 4000 Vocarb is also well made of steel, with tough powder coated finishes, and comes with a 10 year warranty. This air cleaner does an amazing job of removing cat, dog, bird, and other animal dander, dust, & odors and handles room or other confined spaces up to 1200 square feet with one unit. Filters typically last 2-5 years, depending on use. So with this pet air purifier, you get excellent dust, dander, & odor control, high output of 400 CFM, and a better warranty, but it costs a little more–$699. This air cleaner is also well suited for homes and rooms with multiple cats, dogs, birds or other animals.

Multiple animals in one area can definitely cause an increase the amount of dust, dander & odors, however, and will cause any air purifier’s filters to become saturated or ‘used up’ quicker, roughly 20% faster for each additional pet in the same home or room. So if your filters normally last 20 months, take off 4 months for each additional pet, etc. You may want to purchase additional filters when you purchase the unit, as well, to get the best filter pricing and not have a decrease in air quality (and an increase in allergies) while you’re waiting for a set of filters to arrive in the mail. Whichever pet air cleaner you choose, the above three HEPA pet air purifiers are our best sellers and continue receive excellent reviews.

  69. Own a Pet Store or Veterinary Office & Think Your A/C Filter Is Enough for Clean Air? Think Again.

If you own or work at a pet store, animal shelter, or veterinary office with multiple pets or animals present on a regular basis, everyone’s health—owners, customers, employees, etc–is likely at risk from poor indoor air quality. And unfortunately, a lot of people think that if they put a really good filter in the HVAC system that this will be enough to remove the dander and prevent illness—and nothing could be farther from the truth.

Pet dander is loaded with allergens, bacteria, viruses, and many other potentially infection agents, and air conditioner filters are not designed to trap those tiny particles. In fact, without a HEPA pet air cleaner running, all of those smaller particles from 0.5 microns to 5 microns or so are only being circulated MORE by your HVAC system because the pore size in typical air conditioner filters is too large and allows these pollutants to get through. Even electrostatic filters are not enough to stop the tiny dander, hair & dust particles that cause the majority of allergies, respiratory and other illnesses. The other thing about HVAC filters is that most do not have much or any carbon in them to remove odors or chemicals from pet flea, tick and other treatments, which often contain pesticides—and most HVAC system filters don’t capture those chemicals, either, so everyone is breathing those, too. To remove these harmful dust & dander particles and prevent allergies requires a pet air cleaner with a true HEPA filter, which is standard for quality air cleaners for pet dander & dust allergies..

Aside from the obvious health hazards, controlling cat, dog, bird and other animal odors is often a big problem, too. Veterinary offices, pet shelters and pet stores often don’t have a good air filtrations system in place to remove the odors caused by dander and constant urine & fecal material. To remove these odors effectively, it takes a good amount of specially activated carbon to effective remove these odors, as normally found in a proper pet air purifier. Pet air purifiers like the Austin Pet Machine, Aller Air 4000 Vocarb, or even the Blueair 450E have significant amounts of carbon and do a great job of removing odors, and can cover large spaces with one air cleaner. All three of these units are some of the very best air purifiers for cat, dog, & bird odors.

For extra large veterinary offices, shelters, rooms with kennels, or to clean the air in the whole building, you may want to look at say, an Aller Air 6000 AH Vocarb that attaches directly to the HVAC system and includes both a HEPA filter and heavy carbon filter for excellent air cleaning in every room—without buying multiple room air purifiers. There are also smaller commercial grade air purifiers that are very effective for pet or animal air cleaning purposes and contain anywhere from 23 to 100 lbs of carbon, as well as HEPA filters. Yes, there are low cost pet air purifiers that do work well, such as those from Winix, but they’re for smaller rooms and will need more filter changes (every 6 months or so) to continue to remove cat & dog urine and dander odors.

Air Purifiers and Cleaners.com is your #1 best source for pet air purifiers for just about any room, veterinary office, shelter or any other enclosed space where pets are kept. All of our air cleaners come with true HEPA & carbon filters, and some with healthy negative ions to effectively reduce or eliminate allergies and respiratory problems caused by pet dander and odors. Whatever pet air purification system you might need, we’ve got a perfect unit or system for you.

And since we’re an online store with much lower overhead than most stores, we pass those savings on to you with cheap discount prices and free shipping every day. Got a pet air purification question? Give our experts a call toll-free at 1-800-701-2513. We’re here for you!

  70. Best Air Purifier for Pets: Start with HEPA & Carbon

There are a lot of air purifiers on the market where the manufacturer or retailer claims that they are good or effective for removing cat, dog, bird or other types of pet dander & odors. Truth is, however, whether an air cleaner is effective for pet dander & odors depends on two main factors: HEPA and carbon filters. And of course, the other main factor is the output, or how much air the air purifier can move.

Over 80% of pet air purifiers are purchased because the pet is kept indoors and the owner or others are experiencing allergies or respiratory problems. And the elements that cause most of the allergies or respiratory issues are the small dander particles (which includes hair, dust, fecal material, etc) and odors from urine or other pet secretions. Odors are also created by dander particles, as well, since they contain bodily secretions and bacteria that cause odors, so effectively removing the particles can definitely help with odors. So it makes sense that the best air purifier for pets would start with a HEPA filter that is able to remove over 99% of the particles that cause allergy or respiratory irritation. Anything less than a true, certified HEPA filters will leave harmful cat, dog, & bird dander particles in the air.

A strong activated carbon filter is the next major requirement for an effective pet air purifier—with either a military carbon sheet or several pounds of high-grade activated granular carbon or zeolite. Pet odors are created mostly by organic chemical compounds floating in the air, chemical compounds from scent glands, feces, urine, skin oils, and even flea, tick or other pest treatments and medications. All of these elements become airborne and contribute to pet odors, and it requires a significant amount of carbon to absorb them. A simple carbon pre-filter or a little bit of crushed carbon will not be enough to absorb all of the odors in a room, or will only last a month or two. So choose a pet air cleaner with a solid amount of activated granular carbon or zeolite for the best pet odor removal.

Some of the best air purifiers for pets often include not only HEPA and carbon filters, but also healthy negative ions, even UV light. Both ions and UV light serve to kill bacteria and viruses and freshen the air. Negative ions (often created by UV light) also cause dander particles to clump together so that they are more easily removed from the air in a room. Beware of low-cost or cheap air purifiers that claim to be effective for room air cleaning, however. These air cleaners usually don’t have quality HEPA filters or enough carbon to do a good air cleaning job, and will likely be a waste of your money.

The other key point is the output of the air cleaner. Most of your best pet air cleaners will have an output of 250-400 cubic feet per minute, which means they’ll cycle all of the air in an average room in 5-10 minutes. Anything less than 250 CFM or if they won’t list it, probably won’t do the best job of removing room pollutants before you can breathe them. So make sure that the pet air cleaner you select has a good output. The Austin Pet Machine, Aller Air 4000 or 5000 Vocarb are excellent HEPA air cleaners for cat, dog, & bird dander that will do a great job of removing over 99% of particles & odors from most rooms, and usually in less than 5 minutes. All three of these air cleaners and the Winix 9500 are highly rated in most pet air purifier reviews, as well.

  71. With a new cat whether a kitten or older cat, a special cat toy will be needed to simply thwart the boredom. It is easy to entertain a cat with a laser toy, or feather wand that is controlled. It is important to secure any harmful object such as ribbons, cotton balls, string, or Kleenex that a kitten always seems to find.

Cat toys stimulate your pet and feed off of their high energy level as play. The higher the cat toy makes them jump and more interactive, the more entertaining for your kitty. It is their nature to catch the toy object whether a feather, mouse, or ball mid air. Whether the Cat-O-Sphere or a teaser cat toy on a stick, your cat will benefit from your attention and the activity.

  72. Got Pets, Allergies? The Wrong Air Purifier Could Cost You—A Lot.

Lots of people have pets and deal with daily allergy or asthma attacks, and when they can’t take it anymore, they typically go to Walmart or some other retailer and get the cheapest air purifier they can to hopefully clean up the air and reduce allergy & asthma symptoms. And about 75% of them soon find that their allergies aren’t much better but keep the cheap air purifier anyway. Some find, however, that their allergies are actually worse than before they bought the air cleaner. In this article we hope to shed some light on why this happens and how buying the right – or wrong - pet air purifier can make a big difference.

One problem with purchasing low cost air purifiers for use with pets is that these air cleaners aren’t really designed to remove all of the dust, dander, and chemical or odor pollutants that pets produce—and when they don’t remove these from the air in your room, the fan is simply circulating polluted air. The best air purifiers for cat & dog dander allergies always include true certified HEPA filters, pre-filters, and often negative ions, all of which work together to not only destroy the bacteria and viruses that come along with pet dander, but are certified to remove over 99% of allergy & asthma-causing dust and hair.

And, true pet air cleaners remove odors better because they include effective activated carbon or zeolite filters that are designed to trap the airborne chemicals that cause the odors. Low cost or cheap air purifiers with a thin ‘carbon pre-filter’ will only help odors for a few days and then stop working because there isn’t enough carbon to last any longer. Carbon becomes saturated when it absorbs its limit of chemicals and then just allows the polluted air to blow through and out into your room—which, again, circulates more polluted air than if you didn’t have an air purifier. Can you see how cheap air purifiers with low performance filters can actually cause more of a problem?

And the greater danger that the people that just keep the cheap or low cost air purifier and let it run, is that they will continue to breathe pet dander, dust, and chemical pollutants & urine or other odors for a long period of time, which creates constant exposure to the bacteria, viruses, and other germs that can cause serious illnesses. Did you know that over 60% of people with cancer have or had indoor pets for 5 years or more? Yep, there is a connection there. Using a quality room air purifier designed for use with indoor pets would likely have prevented that. When you look at serious illness versus spending a little more for a top-rated pet air cleaner that would protect your health, the air purifier isn’t so expensive.

And the best HEPA air cleaners for pets aren’t really that much more—the difference is literally only a few cents a day. Pet air cleaners like the Austin Pet Machine or Aller Air 4000 Vocarb are strong enough to truly clean the air and remove over 99% of all pollutants that an indoor bird, cat, dog or other animal could produce. If you have multiple cats, dogs or other pets, your indoor air is much more polluted and can cause serious illness much quicker, so we definitely recommend getting at least one or two units to make sure the air is free of allergy, asthma, and disease causing dander, hair, bacteria and viruses.

So enjoy your pet, and don’t become a victim of unnecessary illness and suffering—get the right HEPA air purifier today and safeguard your health!

  73. Pet Air Purifiers: Great for Removing Pet Hair & Dander & Prevent Allergies-But Which One To Buy?

If you have dog, cat, bird or another pet, and you have allergies, there’s no reason that you should have to deal with those allergies on a daily basis. It’s been shown in research that if the pet dust, hair, dander, urine and other odors are removed from the air, that most people receive about 75% allergy relief immediately—and up to 95% after only a few days of using a pet air purifier.

So the question isn’t really whether to buy an air purifier or not—it’s which pet air cleaner is most effective, the best value, and most suited for your particular pet and situation. So let’s answer a few questions: 1) Q: Does the air purifier have to be called or say it’s a pet air purifier to work for pets? A: No. In fact, some of the best cat hair, dander, dust & allergy removing air purifiers, for example, are made by Aller Air, such as the Aller Air 4000 Vocarb, which is a great pet air purifier value even though it’s not called a pet air cleaner.

The Aller Air 4000 Vocarb includes medical grade HEPA filters to remove the dander, hair, and over 99% of other allergy & asthma causing particles, a 12 pound block of special Vocarb carbon to remove odors like nothing else, and air cleaning power output of 400 cubic feet per minute. The Austin Pet Machine is a HEPA pet air purifier and has similar air purification power and features, also featuring a medical grade HEPA filter, 15 pounds of carbon & zeolite to remove odors exceptionally well, and about 400 CFM output, which means it will clean all of the air in an average room in about 2 minutes flat. Think that might reduce allergies pretty fast? You bet it does. In fact, these are high-capacity pet air cleaners, too, handling up to 1200 and 1500 square feet of living space with one air cleaner. With many other pet air purifiers only covering 200-400 square feet per unit, you can see the Austin Pet Machine and Aller Air 4000 Vocarb are much better values.

Let’s take another common question about pet air cleaners: 2) Q: Is pet dander & hair that big of a deal? What if I don’t have allergies? A: Yes. Pet dander, which includes hair, skin flakes & dust, fecal or waste particles, skin oils, bacteria, viruses, and much more, even if you don’t have significant or any allergies, you don’t want to be inhaling these infection and health problem-causing particles. It has been shown in recent studies that there is a connection between people who have chronic respiratory or other more serious illnesses and pets & pet dander.

Over 70% of people with chronic respiratory issues, COPD, heart disease, even cancer, all currently have indoor pets or did for at least 5 years prior to diagnosis, and did not have a pet air purification system to remove cat, dog, bird dander, etc. You might not experience any problems for a while, but the bacteria, viruses, and other pollutants you’re breathing daily may not cause a problem for a while, but they eventually do. At some point, health insurance rates will be higher if you have an indoor pet and don’t have an air cleaner.

And we didn’t even mention the odors caused by pet dander, hair, skin oils, etc. Cats, dogs, and birds all release these elements which turn into odors, which aren’t really harmful to most people unless you’re really sensitive to pet odors. The only thing to keep in mind is that odors are also caused by airborne bacteria living on dander particles that you breathe in, so the odor just tells you you’re breathing dander, really, which IS dangerous. Plus, most pets receive various worm, flea, and other pest control treatments and these chemicals do become airborne—and many of these are harmful chemicals to breathe as well. The Aller Air unit and Pet Machine mentioned above are two of the pet odor removal air cleaners with HEPA Filters & carbon can remove these, as well.

  74. There are times when we have to just find relief for our pets. Having a Pug stay with over for 2 weeks makes one sit up and ask why are they itching. This dog was miserable which made me irritated and miserable. Rubbing in the chair and chewing, pulling fur and trying to get at the already raw skin. A shampoo followed by a conditioner rinse every other night seemed to provide relief but long term there are supplements that work to help this. Doc Roy’s® DERMA COAT PLUS provides the needed ingredients that help the body combat this type of dry and itchy skin. The Omega 3,6,& 8 fatty acids from the flaxseed, fish, and soy oil reverse the dryness and provide your pet relief.

These DERMA COAT PLUS treats are like gumdrops that your puppy or grown dog will goggle down. Each morning you simply give your baby one and within 2 (two) weeks there is relief. While this has been tried before, it was never continued when the Pug got home. Needless to say, there are treats coming and will the Pug ever be happy.

  75. Best Air Purifiers for Cat Dander & Urine Odor—Austin Air & Aller Air

A lot of pet owners and those with allergies and respiratory problems that are considering buying a cat have asked us which is the best pet air cleaners for cat hair, dander & urine odor, as these are two big problems that tend to come along with any cat that is kept indoors.

And while it’s true that that there are a good number of pet air cleaners on the market with HEPA filters and some carbon, many of these air purifiers don’t do a very good job of consistently removing cat dander, hair, dust, odors, other allergens from the air in homes or rooms. The problem is usually three-fold: 1) many of these air cleaners do not have quality, good-sealing HEPA filters that do not allow air to pass around the filter, 2) the air purifier filter does not contain enough of best quality activated carbon to truly absorb the odors, and 3) a lot of pet air purifiers do not move enough air to remove pollutants quickly enough before people breathe them in.

Austin Air and Aller Air purifiers, specifically the Austin Pet Machine and the Aller Air 4000 Vocarb are designed for use with pets and solve all of these problems. Both air cleaners include the best quality good-sealing HEPA filters, 12-15 lbs of activated carbon and / or zeolite, and they both move or clean about 400 cubic feet of air per minute for fast, effective removal of pet dander, hair, dust, and urine or other cat odors. The Austin Pet Machine air purifier is also good for larger rooms, handling rooms or pet areas up to 1500 square feet with one air cleaner.

The Aller Air 4000 Vocarb handles rooms up to 1200 square feet, but includes powerful Vocarb activated carbon that is a little stronger for removing pungent cat urine odors, VOC’s, and other chemicals. And both have good pre-filters to obtain maximum life from the HEPA and carbon filters. The Austin Pet Machine and Aller Air 4000 Vocarb have the best pet air purifier reviews for cat dander, hair, & urine odors, and not just from our internal testing and reviews, but in many other pet groups, pet owners, etc.

While even the best low-cost HEPA pet air purifiers for pet hair, dust, & allergies don’t really do the best job of cleaning the air, for a little bit more, literally a few cents more per day, you can have an Austin Pet Machine or Aller Air 4000 Vocarb that is guaranteed to do an excellent job of removing cat hair, cat dander, cat urine odor and other odors, and reducing allergies, asthma, and respiratory problems for both you and your pet or cat. These two HEPA pet air cleaners are also great for removing dander and odors from dogs, birds, iguanas or any other animals or pet—and this is a case where you definitely get what you pay for, or more.

Air Purifiers and Cleaners.com features a wide selection of quality HEPA pet air cleaners that are perfect for eliminating cat, dog, bird, and virtually any other animal or pet dander that needs to be removed. And since we are an online store, we can sell cheaper than other stores due to far less overhead. And, that allows us to offer free shipping every day, as well! 76. Dog toys make the world go round when you have an active dog, an aggressive chewer. They’re objects that inspire play, enrich training, ease boredom, and curb problem behaviors.

Just ask the expert and they will say that each dog needs more than one kind of toy . Whether it has more bells or whistles, they need different types, such as a stress ball or a softer toy that they can “baby” and satisfy their gentler instincts. Frisbees and tug toys provide ways to share the fun, while squeaky playthings cry out for attack.

There are multiple claims of invincible toys that can withstand the driven passion of your dog. There is always concern for the most familiar hazards such as choking and stomach obstruction. Pieces as well as particles when ingested can pose a risk. With this in mind, some options for those toys for your playful dog are available.

  77. Got Pets, Respiratory Problems? A Pet Air Purifier May Be The Answer.

If you have a dog, cat, bird, or other animal indoors, you know that they constantly release hair, dust, skin flakes, skin oils, urine odors, fecal particles, etc., and this ‘dander’ not only becomes airborne, but also sticks to walls, furniture, and other surfaces only to become airborne again when air blows across it, someone sits on it, etc. And if you have allergies or respiratory problems, you certainly don’t want to get rid of your pet. A better answer might be to remove the dust, dander, hair, odor and other pollutants with a powerful HEPA pet air cleaner.

A pet air purifier is different from normal air purifiers in that they usually include several filtration layers or filters and other air purification technologies that together do a better job of removing the allergy, asthma, & respiratory problem-causing dust, dander, hair, odor and other pollutants. Pet air purifiers also usually contain significant amounts of activated carbon to truly remove odors from the air, not cover them up with fragrances that wear off.

This dander also mixes with house dust and tends to stay around, constantly polluting the air in your home or room—and unless you clean your home or rooms effectively every week (including dusting) and have a HEPA pet air purifier running, you’re bound to have mild to severe allergies and or respiratory problems. But no one wants to get rid of their pet, so the smart thing to do is to buy one of the best dander-removing HEPA pet air purifiers as soon as possible.

If you do purchase a top-rated air cleaner for pets and use it properly to remove the cat, dog, bird or other animal dander from your home or room’s air, in a short period of time, your body will begin to get rid of the pollutants it has taken in, and since you’re not adding new airborne allergens and respiratory irritants, you’ll likely see a significant reduction in allergies and any respiratory problems—and you’ll probably sleep better.

Literally, for a few dollars a month, you can reduce or eliminate your allergies or respiratory problems, reduce cleaning time in your home or room, and keep your pet. Sounds like a good deal right? You bet. Buying a proper HEPA pet air purifier will be one of the smartest moves you’ve ever made. We highly recommend the Austin Pet Machine, Aller Air 4000 Vocarb, or Winix 9500 Pet Air Cleaner as our top pet air purifier picks for best value and performance. The Austin Pet Machine even comes with a 30 Day Money Back Guarantee—it’s that good.

  78. Anyone with cats unless they are hairless knows of the problems of Hairballs. As cats groom themselves they may swallow hair at the same time. Once hair gets into the stomach it cannot be digested, potentially blocking the digestive system.

There are some products out there that help with this issue, but none like Laxatone. This is an easy-to-use lubricant gel that helps in the prevention and removal of hairballs in cats and kittens. It is available in multiple flavors, Tuna, Malt, Catnip, and Chicken. The paste coats the swallowed hairball, allowing it to pass through the intestinal tract.

Laxatone® is gentle, but effective, Veterinarian formulated and Veterinarian recommended with an irresistible taste that cats love.

  80. Nothing seems more heartbreaking than the loss of a pet. Whether you are a cat or dog person, your pet is part of your immediate family. Often your cat or dog is companion who is always around, following you, listening to you each morning getting ready for work and greeting you at the door at night.

When they are sick, it is just as important to take care of their needs. If you have ever considered Pet Insurance, it is a worthwhile exploring whether the pet insurance is only covering yearly shots or routine Vet calls. Pets, just as us, can have diseases that need daily medicine such as Diabetes. It is reassuring to have a basic health plan in place to counter some of these costs.

  82. Pet Dander: Why a Pet Air Purifier Could Save Your Life

Most pet owners understand what pet dander is. Dander, of course, refers to the hair, skin flakes, fecal particles, bodily secretions, urine, etc. What pet owners either aren’t aware of or don’t like to think about is the fact that the ‘dust’ from birds, the cat dander, dog dander, etc., doesn’t just include the allergens listed above—dander includes bacteria, viruses, and often worm eggs, despite regular veterinary visits, worming, etc. And for some people with serious illness, removing these air pollutants from their home or room air just might help them recover quicker—or even save their lives.

The real issue involved with having cats, dogs or birds indoors is the constant exposure to the dander & ‘dust’—which carries bacteria, viruses, and more. Sometimes even fleas can carry bacteria and viruses, too. Literally every day and night that we spend indoors without a true HEPA air purifier or air cleaner system for pet dander, we’re breathing this toxic dust and dander. And you might think ‘oh, it isn’t that much’ or ‘I don’t even have allergies’. And if you see any dust on furniture in your home, that means you have airborne dust that you’re breathing. And, when you consider that all it takes for an infection is one bacterium or virus to get into our system (and one of the best way entrances is through the lungs) and cause an infection, you realize that these things need to be removed from the air to maintain good health. For some people with severe allergies, the dander is causing them a lot of pain and suffering and for others with indoor cats, dogs & other pets with serious illnesses, they might not realize it, but it is very likely that their ailments are related to infectious elements they have been breathing for a long time.

In fact, recent studies have shown that yes, pets do help people to a degree with depression, the need for companionship, etc. But there is also a startling correlation with the people that have serious illnesses, respiratory problems, even chronic colds & flu—a high percentage of them have indoor cats, dogs, birds, even lizards. And if the dander isn’t enough, the chemicals used in pet flea collars and other treatments—guess what—most of them are carcinogenic, or cancer causing and have been proven to contribute to birth defects. The EPA has even recently (as recent as December2011) cited toxic indoor air pollution in the top 5 major threats to our health. And if you have pets (don’t have an air purifier to remove the dander), that dander is contributing to that health threat—to a large degree.

Cats & dogs (especially cats) track their feces and urine around on their feet, which mixes with house dust, and when that dust becomes airborne, we’re breathing all that stuff. And if you have babies or small children with immune systems that aren’t fully developed, you really don’t want them breathing dander, bacteria, & viruses every day. The good news is that you probably don’t have to get rid of your pet to regain your health, get rid of allergies or respiratory problems, or to achieve your best health.

Usually all it takes to clean up the air in your home, room or office is a quality pet air purifier with a true HEPA filter and a good amount of activated carbon to remove these airborne health hazards. If you do have serious allergies or illness and have indoor pets, we definitely recommend buying at least one top-rated, best quality pet air cleaner for the main living area of your house and one for the bedroom—or at least definitely one for the bedroom, as we spend about 1/3 of our lives sleeping, and breathing the air in our bedrooms.

Which pet air cleaner should you buy? The best pet air purifiers are specially-designed with ‘super-HEPA’ filters to remove over 99% of the smallest particles, dander, etc, and have the right kind and amount of activated carbon to remove not only the odors associated with cats, dogs, birds, etc, but also the chemical pollutants we mentioned above, from dog & cat flea treatments, etc so that you’re not breathing known carcinogens. We highly recommend the Austin Pet Machine as our first pick, since it has a full 15 pounds of odor and chemical absorbing carbon & zeolite, as well as the ‘super-HEPA’ filter we mentioned. Plus, the Pet Machine air purifier has a great reputation for alleviating pet allergies and respiratory problems—and it even comes with a 30 day money back guarantee. Other quality pet air cleaners to consider are the Blueair 450E and Winix 9500 Ultimate Pet Air Cleaner. These air cleaners also do a great job of removing cat, dog, bird and other animal dander, odors, etc. Bottom line: if you have severe allergies or illnesses and have indoor pets, do yourself a big favor and buy a pet air purifier. You will not only sleep better, but you’ll probably feel better in general, possibly in as little as 2-3 days.

At Air Purifiers and Cleaners.com, we sell only the best air purifiers for pet odor and dander, replacement filters, test kits, and more. And since we’re an online store, we don’t have the overhead of traditional stores so we pass those savings on to you with cheap, discount prices, and free shipping every day.

These small aluminum signs can be tailored to fit on a stake in your yard, on your wall, or even in your office nook. The pet signs range from 4” x 4” to 9” x 12”. We have given several to family and friends. This year was for Bosses day.

The signs can be personalized with the breed and your pet’s name. The saying can be slightly altered to fit your pet. My sister had four Dachshunds. Two of these little dogs were aging. They would run to greet the delivery man or her at her gate as she came home. It was always a guess which would get there first. It seemed appropriate to give her the “WARNING, George, Gracie, Daisy and Bear CAN MAKE IT TO THE FENCE IN 2.8 SECONDS”. Memories captured by a simple sign.

  84. Are you someone who goes nowhere without your dog? If so you must have a very social canine, one that never causes any problems at family gatherings. But as early spring approaches and your dog begins to shed, dog hair will be on everything in your car or truck. If you offer a ride to any of your human companions, you will also need to provide a lint brush or roller to remove all the hair that they will gather on their clothing. What you need is an inexpensive rear seat dog resistant seat cover.

The Classic Accessories DogAbout and Heritage collections had dog lovers in mind when they developed the dog seat covers for cars, trucks, and SUVs. You can dog proof your SUV with a cargo protector which lines the cargo area that is easy to clean and the rugged abrasion resistant fabric can handle muddy dog paws, sharp nails and shedding dog hair. If you own a quad-cab truck there is the rear seat fitted dog cover that quickly fits bench and rear seats to protect against sharp nails, fur, spills, and dirt. If your dog just loves to hang his head out the window as you drive, the vehicle door protector protects against slobber and nails.

At http://www.rvcoversprotect.com we value our time with man’s best friend as well as the cleanliness of a well maintained car truck or SUV. We provide our customers with the best dog seat covers for both bench and bucket seat. 86. Got Pet Odor? This Two Step System May Be The Answer.

It’s pretty difficult to have an indoor pet and not have some kind of odor. Pet odor and smells come mainly from dander, which is composed of tiny bits of hair, skin cells or dust, oils, urine, fecal matter, bacteria, etc. Pet odors also come from the scent glands that all animals have (unless removed) and use to mark territories. The scent molecules become airborne just like the particles and that’s where we begin to smell them. And often, pet owners vacuum, mop, and clean but still have that lingering smell of their cat, dog, bird or whatever animal they have. Is there a way to completely get rid of pet odor?

Well, yes and no, but the good news is that you can get rid of about 98% of what you smell by using a couple of simple techniques. One of the issues with residual pet odor is that the particles, dander, scent molecules, etc., still remain in tiny amounts where we can’t or don’t clean—and of course, the animal is constantly releasing these odor-causing elements. That is where an air purifier designed for pet odor can be a big help. Pet air cleaners not only have a true HEPA filter to get rid of odor-causing particles, but also an activated carbon filter that removes chemical or gas-based odor-causing pollutants. And, the best pet air purifiers usually include healthy negative OH- ions that help to clean the air, destroy bacteria, and freshen the air. The second main thing to do is use Febreze. Why? Because Febreze has chemical technology that uses air freshening molecules that bond to odor-causing pollutants in the air and they bond in such a way that it makes that pollutant’s odor basically invisible to the receptors in our noses. No other air freshener we know of does this. And it’s cheap.
So with some regular cleaning, using a pet air cleaner, and using some Febreze on a daily or weekly basis will not only remove about 98% of all the odor-causing particles, gases, and chemicals but the Febreze will block the ability of your nose to detect any remaining pet odor-causing pollutants in the air. Pretty smart, right? Absolutely—and it works.

Which pet air cleaner is best? We recommend three main pet air purifiers based on tested performance and value—the Winix 9500 Ultimate Pet Air Cleaner, the Austin Pet Machine, and the Blueair 450E or 650E with the GO SmokeStop filter option. Any of these will do an excellent job and you will notice a marked decrease in pet odor. We recommend these air purifiers for pets not just because we sell them–we sell them and only these because they work.

  87. Pet Air Purifiers: A Way To Prevent Allergies for You–And Your Pet

Pet dander, bird dust, cat hair, and other allergens can all make allergies worse—for you and your pet. Cats, dogs, birds, other household animals, and humans, all release skin flakes or dandruff, bits of hair, bacteria, mucus, odors, chemicals, and other ‘organic matter’ that mixes with the dust in the house to create potent allergens that not only cause allergies and respiratory problems for their owners, but for the pets, as well. Dogs seem to be especially vulnerable to household allergies, with runny noses, eye irritation, coughing, sneezing and more. And there’s a good chance that if you have allergies, your pet does, or will soon have them as well. The good news is that all this can be prevented with an air purifier that is designed for pets.

Just like us, when our pets have to breathe air that is polluted with human ‘dander’, dust and other household particles, their systems react with allergies and respiratory problems. And it only makes sense–our pets have noses, eyes, and respiratory systems that react to foreign particles, just like ours do. So the money you may be spending every month going to the vet, buying eye ointments, drops, and other allergy medications for your pet (and yourself) might be better spent on a quality air purifier that eliminates the problem for your pet, and everyone else, once and for all. Humans benefit greatly from cleaning up the air in homes and rooms when household allergies are a problem, and honestly, it’s no different for our pets. They are often just as reactive to the dust, chemicals, and other substances found in most homes and rooms as we are. Ask a veterinarian and see what they tell you about pet allergies and indoor air quality. Pet allergies come from three main sources: mites, bacteria or some other organism, dietary sources, and what they breathe or “get into” while roaming around.

When selecting pet air purifiers, there are several key features to look for. A good pet air cleaner will include a true HEPA filter that will trap 99.97% of all dander, pet and human, and a good amount of quality activated carbon to remove household chemical vapors and odors from urine and other ‘stuff’. Some even have electronic sensors that turn on and off when pollutants are detected. Your best air purifiers for dog allergies, cat allergens, and ‘human allergens’, etc., include all of the above, and also feature healthy negative ions, which are harmless to humans and animals but kill bacteria & viruses, help eliminate odors, and make the smaller, more dangerous particles clump together so that they are more easily trapped by the HEPA filter.

Together with weekly house cleaning and regular bathing of your pet, a pet air purifier can make life a lot more bearable for you and your cat, dog, bird, or whatever other animal you may have. In fact, when you think about all the money you’ll save on medications, trips to vet or allergy doctor, a quality room air cleaner can actually be a low-cost way to prevent allergies for everyone. So far, from our testing and research, the best rated pet air purifiers are coming from Austin Air, Blueair, Winix, and Tiger Corporation, in that order.
At Air Purifiers and Cleaners.com, we sell only the best air purifiers for pet odor, & dander, replacement filters, test kits, and other items you need to make sure the air in your home is clean for you and your pets. 88. Pet Air Purifiers: A Way to Save Money?

Actually, using pet air purifiers can save you money in lots of ways. Many people who have indoor pets (cats, dogs, birds, reptiles, etc.) purchase air fresheners and cleaners to help get rid of pet odors, special brooms and other cleaning tools to pick up hair, and allergy medications to help reduce sneezing, coughing, and other respiratory problems, when there is one thing you can do that will take care of all of that: buy an air purifier that is designed for use with pets.

Quality pet air purifiers have pre-filters that trap the hair and larger particles, dander, etc, HEPA filters that trap / filter the smaller dander and particles (such as bird dust), and a good amount of specially activated carbon that removes general pet odors, even cat urine odors and dog smell. Just think of how much you’re spending monthly on those extra allergy medications, cleaning tools/products, air fresheners, etc. Add it up for yourself and see. Chances are, in just a few months, you’ve spent more than it would cost for a good pet air purifier.

Some excellent brands to consider are Winix, Blueair, and Austin Air. The Winix air purifiers are some of the best value on the market as they feature pre filters, HEPA filters, activated carbon, and healthy negative ions that further clean the air and destroy bacteria / viruses, all for under $300. Blueair is a little more powerful with specially activated carbon, which is better for removing pet odors and an extra strength HEPA filter that removes particles down to 0.1 micron, plus the healthy negative ions. Blueair is a little more expensive but you have a minimum 5 year warranty, longer lasting filters, and heavier duty Swedish construction.

The Austin Air Pet Machine has much of the same features, but has a full 15 lbs of carbon / zeolite for odor removal, a powerful HEPA filter, and a good pre-filter. The Austin Pet Machine is probably the most effective, best value pet air purifier available as it has the best air filtration / odor / dander removal ability and it is about $100 less than say, the Blueair 450E. So, if you do have indoor pets, do yourself a favor and get a quality pet air purifier. It will save you money in the long run and you’ll probably feel and sleep better knowing you are breathing clean air.

Air Purifiers and Cleaners.com is proud to be an authorized distributor for Winix, Blueair, and Austin Air air purifiers. . And since we are an online store, we don’t have the overhead of traditional stores and we pass those savings on to you with cheap discount prices and free shipping every day. 89. Even Pets Need a Warm Buddy

Your family pet, whether it’s a dog, a cat or even a monkey needs warmth, especially when they are sleeping. Just like humans, your dog, cat or other favorite pet looses body heat when they rest. That’s why your cat will always find the softest, furriest place to lie down and your dog will love to lie at the end of your bed where they feel your body heat transferred to them, giving them a sense of safety and security. When pets find a source of warmth it brings them a feeling of security so they can relax and get rest when they need it. For cats that’s a good part of the day. Pets may also need that warm source to ease anxiety when you go away, especially if they are young or new to your home.

Pets just love them because they feel warm like their owner’s body or another dog or cat companion and they are durable and safe for your pet to play with as well.

  90. Don’t Get Rid of Your Pet—Clean Up Your Air and Get Rid of Your Allergies!

So many people buy a pet only to find that their allergies / asthma symptoms get worse or sometimes find that they now have allergies / asthma symptoms for the first time and aren’t sure why. And sometimes you consider getting rid of the pet, which is difficult after the dog, cat, bird or other animal is now part of the family.

And as much as you clean, vacuum, etc., the reason why you still have allergy / asthma symptoms is because dust, dander, pet hair particles get lodged in upholstered furniture, rugs, carpets, and even stick to walls. And when air blows across these areas, or you sit down on furniture, the particles become airborne again.

So what is the best way to prevent allergy / asthma symptoms, without extensive cleaning every week (cleaning that no one has time for)? Answer: buy an air purifier that is designed to remove pet dander, dust, hair, and odors associated with cats, dogs, birds and other animals. Now, which pet air purifier should I choose?

There are a lot of air purifiers on the market and not all clean the air well enough to alleviate your allergies / asthma symptoms. Your best bet is to purchase an air purifier that is designed for pets, air cleaners that feature a highly efficient HEPA filter to remove dander / particles as small as 0.3 microns, and activated carbon for removing pet odors. Austin Air purifiers, such as the
Pet Machine, features not only a great HEPA filter, but also a military grade carbon block air filter, and a great warranty. Blueair air purifiers, such as the Blueair 450E, has automatic sensors, activated carbon for removing odors, and a special HEPA filter to remove particles as small as 0.1 microns. Blueair air purifiers also feature a limited lifetime warranty.

Best of all, you can buy one of these top-rated, low-cost pet air purifiers / cleaners from our online store at Air Purifiers and Cleaners.com, at the best discount prices, with free shipping. Since we are an online store, we don’t have the overhead of traditional stores and we pass these savings on to you. If you have any questions, feel free to give us a call at 1-800-701-2513. 91. Cat Urine, Dog Smell, and Bird Odor–Why Do I Still Smell It?

You scrub, mop, vacuum and still…that dog, cat or bird odor is still there, and I still have allergies. Why is that pet smell still there, and what can I do to remove / eliminate the odor, and the allergies that go with it?!

You’re right, if you think dander, smells, and allergies are connected, because they usually are. It may sound overly simplistic, but the main reason you still smell pet or cat urine, dog urine, bird ‘odor’, etc., even after using a variety of cleaners is very simple: It is because the airborne particles and chemical molecules that cause pet odor and allergies are still there. Keep in mind that, like humans, an animal is always breathing (through the nose and through the skin) which releases odors as the chemicals in the exhaled air and gases from the skin evaporate.

Animals have scent glands and oils they use to mark territories, which release odor. Another source of odor is the the fact that dander and urine / scent oils are still lodged in carpets, couches, leather, between the tiles, at the edges of the flooring, etc. Cat and dog urine is especially concentrated and contains a large amount of waste ‘chemicals’ that are very hard to completely remove, even with the best cleaners.

A surprising source of pet smell is cat and dog saliva. Dogs are always drooling, dripping saliva, and touching wet noses to things, and cats are constantly rubbing saliva on doorways, cabinets, furniture, other household objects, often when you’re not looking. That saliva, along with the scent oils in the skin around their whiskers, contains odors, chemicals, scent oils, dander, bacteria, etc—all things that create pet odor. Birds are constantly moving their wings, releasing bird dust or dander into the air, too.

So unless you are cleaning your house from top to bottom, walls, carpets, couches, floors, etc., on a daily basis, the only logical way to truly control, eliminate, or remove pet smell (and allergies) is to use pet air purifiers that are designed to remove the airborne dander, scent oils, saliva, urine, etc., that cause pet smells to linger.

Pet air purifiers have both HEPA filters for removing over 99% of the dander/hair from the air, carbon filters to remove pet odors like cat urine smell, etc, and the best units also use healthy negative ions (not ozone) that destroy bacteria ,help prevent particles/dander from floating around, and help neutralize smells. One of the best, low cost pet air purifiers we have tested is the Winix WAC9500 Ultimate Pet Air Cleaner. This purifier has all of the features necessary for removing pet smells / odors, comes with a remote, automatic air sensors, filter change indicator, and more. The Austin Air Pet Machine also does a great job of removing pet smells/odors/dander, etc, with a powerful HEPA filter and 15 pounds of smell/odor eliminating carbon.

So as you can see, to eliminate, remove, or control pet smells, it’s a two-part process: surface cleaning and using a pet air cleaner. And by using air purifiers designed for removing pet dander / odors / smells, you can actually reduce the amount of surface cleaning!

What’s the best air purifier for dogs, cats, or other pets? That depends on several factors—what type of pet, what types / sources of pet odors (feces, urine, general pet odor), how many pets, how large the pet area is, your budget, and other factors like how severe the odor or allergies are, etc.

Interestingly, many pet odors and human allergies have a common cause: dander. What is dander? Pet dander is composed of dead skin cells, oils/particles from the animal’s skin, small fecal particles, bacteria, bits of hair / fur, saliva, etc. When this dander becomes airborne, by itself or mixed with dust, we often sense odor in the pet’s area, and if we have allergies, start sneezing or have some other allergic reaction. Odor, of course, also comes from a dog’s, cat’s, or other animal’s urine or feces. And as hard as we clean, sometimes that odor lingers.

So which air purifier is really the best for eliminating odor from dogs and cats, and airborne dander / dust particles? The bottom line in choosing the best air purifier for pets is to get the one that has the features that best suit your personal situation. Here are some tips: 1) If the main issue is allergies from breathing in dander / dust / particles, make sure the air purifier has a true HEPA filter. 2) If pet odors are the issue, look for activated carbon or charcoal, and the more the better as this carbon traps the tiny, airborne organic molecules that come from pet dander, skin oils, urine, etc. Those elements are what our noses detect as the ‘odor’. 3) Get an air purifier that covers the amount of area where the animal lives / moves. If the dog, cat or other animal is in an enclosed space, you’ll need a smaller air purifier than if the dogs / cats runs freely in the home. Just look at the total square footage of where the animal can roam and compare to the listed coverage of the air purifier (most will show this in the technical specifications).

And if you can get it, choose an air purifier with healthy negative OH- ions, not ozone, is also helpful, as these ions cause particles to fall out of the air before we breathe them, and they kill airborne bacteria / viruses. The two main units that we would recommend for pets are the Blueair 450E and the Winix 9500 Ultimate Pet Air Purifier The Blueair 450E has a superior HEPA filter, activated carbon for odors, and negative ions, plus automatic sensors, and a remote. The Winix 9500 has similar features, but less carbon, and is a little cheaper. Both are good, but if you can spend just a little more, we would recommend the Blueair 450E over the Winix unit.

  93. Allergic To Pet Dander? Don’t Get Rid of Your Pet! Try This Instead!

Allergic to Pet Dander? Well, in the past you might have had to get rid of your pet, or choose a pet that doesn’t give you an allergic reaction. Not any more! Instead of getting rid of your pet, or loading up on allergy medicine, now there are powerful, low-cost pet air purifiers that can dramatically reduce or eliminate the problem altogether by removing the “dander” that is floating around in your indoor air, landing on your skin, and entering your lungs.

First, let’s take a quick look at what ‘dander’ means. Dander refers to everything from pieces of hair, skin, nails, fecal matter, and any other particles that our pets release from their bodies, coats, feathers, etc. What causes the allergic reaction is breathing the airborne particles and / or getting them on our skin.

Naturally, the body does not recognize these particles as part of ‘you’, and releases histamine in an attempt to control / isolate the area through swelling of tissue. When that swelling of tissue is on the skin, we get hives, itching, etc; when it’s in the the nose, throat, bronchial tubes, etc., we get allergic and asthma or asthma like symptoms–wheezing, sneezing, coughing, shortness of breath, etc. But there is another hazard that comes along with pet dander: the bacteria / viruses that are carried along with dander.

Did you know that many animals, especially birds and lizards carry Salmonella and other bacteria on their skin that can really make you sick. In a lot of cases , however…read more: http://www.airpurifiersandcleaners.com/pet-air-purifiers-dander-odor-allergy

  100. Dog First Aid Kits
Through out history mankind has tamed and bred dogs to be loyal companions. Over the years many different breeds have been developed to do different job such as herding, police work, hunting, guardians and the faithful family companion. The relationship between a person and their dog is special and they have earned a place in our hearts and we have made them a part of our family home. But dogs, just like children can have medical problems and emergencies that need urgent care and actions on your part.

Imagine being in the outdoors with your dog and whether you are at a dog park, hiking, hunting or just playing in your yard, would you know what to do if you encountered an emergency in these situations? It’s a helpless feeling seeing your dog in pain and not having a first aid kit immediately available or having the knowledge of how to give them first aid. The American Red Cross actually has classes that teach you first aid for your dog and every pet owner should go through this course. Last year I encountered an emergency situation with two of my hunting dogs; they got into the peanut jar and ate too many peanuts, which is poisonous for dogs. Having the first aid training and the first aid kit available helped me save the life of my dogs.

It’s something we usually don’t think about until it is too late but having the first aid supplies on hand whether you go hiking, hunting or just playing in the park is a very good idea. You can find many kits available on the web and at Cost 4Less Dog Supplies we carry a great kit that supplies whatever emergency you may have. Check it out at http://www.cost4lessdogsupplies.com and if you don’t see it on our site let us know and we will get it for you.

  103. Electronic Collars for Training

Do you have a young dog you want to train for hunting or just the basic commands or maybe you have a stubborn dog. As dog owners we all have experienced this at one time, using an Electronic Collar can be a great training aid. Most of these collar are now sold with a vibration mode, nick mode and several levels of stimulation modes. The use of these collars can be a good way to reinforce the basic commands your dog should already know.

You should start basic training with the Three-Action Introduction, this consists of the actions of coming towards you, going away from you and becoming stationary. By working with your dog every day and having patience, your dog will start to understand that it must perform different actions to turn off the electrical stimulation.

A word of caution though, if you have never used an electronic collar, it would be wise to consult with a professional on the use of these collars before you start your training. There are also many good videos and books that will show and educate you on how to use these collars to train your dog.

We personally use the products we carry and have a good selection of electronic collars at great prices.

  110. Did you know that dogs and cats have the genetic potential to live well into their 20’s? Unfortunately most pets die between the ages of 13 and 15. The pet food we are feeding them may be what is preventing our pets from reaching these later years. So many pet foods contain ingredients that have no nutritional value and contain harmful ingredients such as corn, wheat, rye, by-products and harmful preservatives. By switching to a more natural pet food that does not contain any of these ingredients you can help your pet live a much longer and healthier life.

Life’s Abundance Premium Pet Food contains all natural, holistic human-grade quality ingredients such as chicken meal, eggs, brown rice and oats. There are no by-products or fillers. These nutritional pet food products are formulated by a well known holistic veterinarian. 122. Slipping Your Pet A Little “Human Snack” Can Be Deadly

Everyone does it now and then. You give into those sad puppy eyes as you are eating your mid-afternoon snack. But pet owners need to be aware that many of the ingredients that are in those snacks can be very harmful to dogs and cats. One such ingredient that is getting more attention is xylitol. It is common in sugarless gum and in sugar-free snacks. The reason for the increase exposure to dogs is because this ingredient is found in more food products now. It can cause your pet to vomit, become lethargic and disoriented and even suffer seizures.

The best way to prevent this is to not let them consume human food. Instead, give them Life’s Abundance Premium Pet Food. This holistic all natural pet health food is made from only human-grade ingredients. No fillers, by-products or harmful ingredients. Keep your dog or cat healthy and happy for years to come. I started feeding my fish and reptiles live worms, they just love this live food and it is nutritious for them also. There are the smaller size red worms these are good for small fish, frogs and toads. The larger European night crawlers are good for larger size fish and lizards. I have also frozen the worms and sliced off slivers to feed fish fry.

Starting with 2 pounds of worms you can feed your pets 10 worms per day and they will reproduce enough that you will not have spend money buying more. 2 pounds of worms will eat 4 pounds of kitchen scraps per week and leave a rich organic compost that can be used for your garden or house plants. http://www.organicwormcomposting.com

  124. Everyone knows fish love earthworms. Few know that they are super nutritious. They are amazing and will make your fish feel and look great.

SAVE MONEY grow your own worms to feed your fish. Starting with as little as 2 pounds of red worms you can start feeding your fish 15 to 20 worms per day while maintaining a working supply for composting and breeding. What’s more you will have a steady supply of organic compost for your house and outdoor plants.

If you are not interested in growing your own fish food, I can supply the worms a pound at a time for feeding your fish. Visit me at organic worm composting.

  125. You can raise your own live fish food while doing a service to our environment.
The method creates little or no odor, requires so little space that it is even used by many small-apartment dwellers. What’s more, those who keep tropical fish have discovered that they can feed the worms to their fish!
The worms used for composting and fish food are not the large earthworms that come out at night on wet lawns. Large fish like oscars, large angels, discus, african cichlids, and lots of others can eat these worms whole.
