Split ends is a concern that can cause a person to seek aid in treating. The only true way to be rid of split ends, is to have them trimmed off. For a temporary fix, add moisturizers and smooth with a hair straitner. Of course, if one does not have split ends, one will not have to fix them. The problem here is that split ends are inevitable. A way to minimize them for a period of time is to use mild shampoo and using a wide tooth comb to comb out hair while it is wet. Remember to never brush wet hair. There are many different hair straighteners on the market. It is difficult to decide which to use. I have three daughters who all have different hair types. The Iso International professional tourmaline ionic hair straightener that we have is wonderful.

Most of us love a beautiful aroma. I love the fragrance of many pure essential oils and flowers of all varieties - roses, frangipani, jasmine, apple blossom eucalypts just to name a few. Different aromas often invoke in us a feeling of nostalgia.
However an increasing number of people are experiencing an adverse affect from fragrances. A minor effect is vagueness or headaches, but also lung constriction, mucus production and asthma. I have a special dislike of artificial musk aromas as I find they affect my lungs quite badly. On doing some research, I found out that some contain benzene, a known asthma trigger.
Why are fragrances affecting an increasing number of people? Perfumes originally (pre 19th century) were all natural. Now they are concocted with 50 - 150 chemicals. 95% of these chemicals are synthetic, petroleum-derived compounds. Many of these chemicals have known possible side affects. This may be in the form of a rash which is a signal not to use that particular one again. However the more dangerous affects will not be immediately known or not known until repeated exposure. Some of the chemicals used are carcinogens or suspected carcinogens. For example just to name a couple:
touline - a significant risk factor in asthma, a kidney irritant, toxic to reproduction, can be contaminated with the carcinogen benzene
benzene - banned in cosmetics in Europe and Canada, a strong asthma trigger, endocrine disruption
There was a time when I also wore some of these synthetic perfumes. I suspect that fewer chemicals were used in fragrances 30-40 years ago. With the toxic overload of today where there is so much pollution, our bodies may be reacting more easily.
So I think we need to take care with overuse of all these products containing artificial fragrances. It’s not just perfume, but most soaps, hand creams, shampoos, bath washes and cleaning products as well.
You could consider pure essential oils, though they are quite expensive and also very strong. You only need a tiny amount, maybe on a hanky or tissue. They should not be applied directly to the skin. However when used in natural organic skin care products they provide a beautiful aroma as well as other skin benefits.

I read about humectants recently and thought this might be worthwhile to remember when purchasing or using moisturizers.
Many skincare products contain humectants. They are a key ingredient in oil-free moisturizers. Their purpose is to attract moisture from the atmosphere to your outer skin layer. This works well in high humidity when there is sufficient moisture in the air.

Toxic Overload
There are so many toxins in the world, many of which are very difficult to avoid, but there are certain things that we can change to at least keep a balance on things and keep our exposure to toxins to a minimum.
Chemicals abound in processed food (and they do not all show on the labels), non-organic fruit and vegetables, non-organic animal produce, clothing, cleaning products and especially in the cosmetic industry. Looking at this list, we can see that the things we have some control over are what we eat, and what we put on our skin.
Choosing a product that is made with organic or at least natural ingredients is going to be far more beneficial for your health and skin in the long term. Ingredients from nature will actually feed your skin and give it added nutrients. Be really careful though, and always look at the packaging, lots of products will say ‘natural’ or ‘with added green tea, jasmine’ etc, but if you look at the ingredients, it may actually be a cocktail of chemicals, mostly with names that I can’t recognize, and then somewhere in there a little bit of jasmine or some other ‘natural ingredient’, just to make it sound better. Also beware of fragrances, unless it says ‘pure, or 100% essential oil’, it’s usually a synthetic fragrance. Again, a toxic mix of chemicals.

What is the difference between Eau de Parfum (i.e., Perfume) and Eau de Cologne (i.e., Cologne)? The differences is the amount or concentration of oils in the fragrance. These oils are called “juice.” The highest concentration of “juice” is in perfume (or parfum). Next would be Eau de Parfum, then Eau de Toilette, and finally Eau de Cologne. Actually, Eau de Toilette and Eau de Cologne are generally interchangeable, particularly in Men’s fragrances. After Shave has the least amount of oils. The higher the concentration of “juice” the longer your fragrance will last, and the less you need to apply. It’s all about moderation. A little goes a long way. Judy’s TIPS on Organic Skin and Body Care 101
I am a small internet company that is constantly looking for better and healthier products to bring to you, my customer.
Recently the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics went out into the public and asked everyday people, that were walking by, how many beauty products and cosmetics they used on a daily basis? They found that the average American uses at least 10 face and/or body products everyday. When they were asked if the products were safe to be used, almost all of them didn’t know, or assumed they were safe and that they were regulated by the FDA. They did not know that everyday they are exposing themselves to approximately 100 plus chemicals that are made with lead, heavy metals, and formaldehyde which have all been linked to cancer, infertility problems and respiratory problems.
Your’re probably asking, what can I do? Today’s consumer has many options open to them to find safe cosmetics, organic makeup, and natural and USDA certified organic beauty products. Become informed. Read all the labels and look for ingredients that you see are natural and not synthetic. If you can’t even pronounce the names, there is a good chance that they are synthetic, and probably not healthy.
Write to your congressman and request that they pass legislation that these unhealthy and dangerous ingredients must not be in our health and beauty cosmetics.
Keep watching for new and safe products that are being brought to the marketplace very frequently.

Today I would like to talk to you about ways to get more energy. Everyone runs around to fit into their day as much as they can. We grab food on the run, we fill our days with a list of todo’s, our errands are endless, and at the end of the day, we feel tired, and wonder how we can get up the next day and do it all over again.
As you already know, most of the food that we put into our bodies has been depleted of vitamins and minerals that we need to keep going and stay healthy. Even the water we drink has lost a good deal of its healthy properties that we need. I have recently found a USA manufacturer of vitamins supplements that are truly amazing. Since starting to use them, I have more and more energy than I have had in years. I won’t say that I feel like I’m in my twenties, (actually I just turned 70) but not far behind. Recently I found some terrific recommendations from Dr Jason Pozner, plastic surgeon, and Dr David Goldberg, cosmetic dermatologist. I thought that I would pass a few of these on to you .
To remove puffiness around your eyes - cut up zucchini or cucumber, mix it with fresh ground ginger. Put the mixture on your eyes for 5 minutes a day, and WOW -the puffiness is reduced.
How about dark circles under your eyes - put raw potato slices on them. The potassium in the potato helps to remove the dark circles. Amazing!

When it has been “one of those mornings” and the after lunch “blahs” have set in, perk yourself up using aromatherapy. Bergamot essential oil has a fresh citrus scent. It seems that more and more people are looking for Organic and All Natural Cosmetics. If you are one of these people, welcome to the newest trend in the industry of “GOING GREEN.” It seems that everyone is concerned about the environment, and going green. This includes choices we make for makeup and cosmetics along with the choices of food that we eat.

I am a member of the Environmental Working Group (EWG) and have found some of the following ingredients that are being used in many organic or natural products. DEA and TEA are used in mascara, foundation and body wash as an emulsifier or foaming agent. They have been found to be skin sensitive, and can form carcinogenic nitrosamine compounds when applied to the skin and body. They have been classified as a respiratory toxin, neurotoxicity hazard and immunotoxicity hazard by Scorecard.org and are listed on labels as: DEA, Diethanolamine, TEA, and Triethanolamine.
