THE AIR FORCE CROSS MEDAL..This medal is the second highest Military Decoration that can be awarded to a member of the US Air Force. It is equivalent to the Distinguished Service Cross of the Navy and the Navy Cross of the Navy/Marine Corps and is awarded for extraordinary heroism not justified by the Medal of Honor. It is awarded to any man or woman who serves in any capacity in the US Air Force and distinguishes themselves by extraordinary heroism in combat. It was proposed in 1947 after the creation of the US Air Force as a separate branch of armed service. Congress established it by Public Law on July 6, 1960, amending it from the original “Distinguised Service Cross” to the “Air Force Cross”. It consists of a bronze cross with an oxidized satin finish and centered on the cross is an American Bald Eagle, wings displayed against a cloud formation, encircled by a laurel wreath in green enamel edged in gold. The back of the medal is blank for engraving. THE SILVER STAR MILITARY MEDAL…It is the third highest military award designated solely for heroism in combat. Established in 1918 as the “Citation Star” and in 1932 was redesigned with a retroactive provision that allowed servicemen as far back as the Spanish-American War of 1898 to receive it for gallant actions. It is a gold star 1 1/2″ in diameter with a gold wreath encircling rays from the center with a 3/16 ” silver star superimposed in the center. On the reverse side states Gallantry in Action. THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL It is a United States Armed Forces individual a military decoration that may be awarded for bravery, acts of merit or meritorious service. It is the fourth highest combat award of the US Armed Services and the ninth highest military award (including combat and non-combat awards) in the order of precedence of US military decorations. It was established by Executive Order 9419, February 4, 1944. This award was conceived by Colonel Russell P. “Red” Reeder in 1943 who believed it would aid morale if there was a medal which could be awarded by Captains of companies or batteries to deserving people under them. The Bronze Star Medal by Rudolf Freund of jewelry firm Bailey, Banks and Biddle. It is 1 1/2″ in diameter and in the center is a 3/16″ diametr bronze star and on the reverse is “Heroic or Meritorious Achievement” with a space for the name of the recipient. THE PURPLE HEART MEDAL……..it is a prestigious medal that no one really wants to receive, because that means that the recipient was wounded, or worse yet killed in combat. It was established by General George Washington and known as the “Badge of Military Merit” on August 7, 1782. It then was revived as the Purple Heart in 1932 by General Douglas MacArthur. It ranks below the Bronze Star but is one of the most widely recognized and respected medals. It signifies “Sacrifice” and blood shed for the price of liberty. It is not uncommon for a soldier to have been wounded several times in a war and receive several Purple Hearts for which one oak leaf cluster is added to the Purple Heart. GHOST RIDER - SPIRIT OF VENGEANCE - a Ghost Rider movie sequel? Or a revamp of the first movie? Producer Mike De Luca prefers to think of it as a “reset”.
In a recent interview with Steve Weintraub, De Luca said, “I thought even with the Ghost Rider comic there were so many iterations.” So true.

Cedar chests are very popular family heirlooms. They not only are beautiful and smell wonderful, but they are a protective holder for many of the family’s fine linens and other keepsakes, as the bugs that would eat them will stay away.
For the most part, cedar chests are pretty easy to clean. If you give them a periodic dusting, they will keep looking almost as good as new. This may be part of the reason they are so popular as an heirloom piece, they are relatively easy to maintain. Now, if you are too lazy to dust, you are going to notice that the dust buildup will couple with the waxy surface of your cedar chests and can cause a mess. Thus the reason it’s easier to just dust, than have to fix the problem later.

Did you know that right now and for the next 2 weeks, scientists and government officials from 47 countries are meeting to discuss the continuance of the Antarctic Treaty. The treaty signed 50 years ago in Washington DC designates “the poles as a peaceful ‘natural reserve’ that can not be used by any government for military purposes”. It also sets guidelines for the research that continues there as well as tourism and protects the 4 species of penguins and other wildlife that live and breed there.

Penguins just happen to be the mascot for my favorite group Fleetwood Mac and we went to Chicago, IL to see Fleetwood Mac in concert. There were so many penguins around it was like being in penguin paradise. Plush penguins in Fleetwood Mac shirts, penguins on t-shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, canvas bags, mugs almost all the souvenirs had penguins on them. I saw many old Fleetwood Mac Concert shirts one from 1978 with penguins on it, another had a black penguin on white shirt and another yet had a white penguin on black shirt from a concert tour in 2003. Everywhere I looked there were penguins old and new for all to view.
Of course the plush penguin we bought and named Mac will automatically go into the Fleetwood Mac section of the All Things Penguin museum page.

Good morning from LaGrange, In and a thought just crossed my mind you ought to check out our Amish handcrafted Wind Chimes Outdoor Decor Series and see why they sound great. All Wind Chimes have a pleasing sound as they catch the wind. Some are more melodic than others though. Making great sounding wind chimes is an art and a science.
The best sounding Wind Chimes are tuned. Tuned Wind Chimes are usually made from bamboo, wood, or Aluminum Alloy Tubes. These wind chimes aren’t just breeze catching accessories: they are finely crafted percussion instruments.
Each rod is crafted to produce a specific note. The craftsman making the Windchimes chooses a particular material. He determines whether the rods will be hollow or solid and how thick they will be. Then he cuts the rods to precisely calculated lengths. After the rods are cut, the craftsman assembles the wind chime. Each rod is placed in precise relationship to the other rods. He usually adds a clapper that strikes the rods when the wind plays the chime. Creating the sound for the particular chimes the craftsman is creating.
Finally, he fine tunes the Chimes by adjusting the placement of the rods and clapper until they produce perfect notes. It takes perfect pitch to create a great sounding Wind Chime.

The Ford Model T. was followed by the Ford Model A (1927 - 1931) and was the second huge success for the Ford Motor Company. One of our special catogories of Diecast Model Cars is Diecast Shelby Collectibles with a great selection of Shelby Cobras and Shelby Mustang GTs.
The Shelby Mustang is a performance muscle car from 1960 thru 1970. It was a series of Ford Mustangs which were specially modified by Carroll Shelby’s company and sold as a series. Ford re-introduced the Shelby GT-H version of the Mustang in 2006-2007, the Shelby GT and the Shelby GT500 in 2007-2008.
