  1. For all you My Little Kitchen Fairy collectors, here’s an adorable Potting Fairy that loves to help plant vegetables in her pot for your kitchen or even your patio or garden. She stands in her hand garden shovel wearing her yellow garden gloves and matching yellow sun-visor while being careful not to make too much of a mess. Be sure to add her to your collection.

  2. A question we get often from new diecast car collectors basically centers around the scale sizes of the cars. People have asked us how big are the certain scales and what do the scale numbers mean. Simply put they are a fraction of the size of the car they are modeled after. For instance an actual car that is 185 inches long will be around 10.25 inches long in 1:18 scale. The same car in 1:24 scale would only be around 7.5 inches long.

    The most common diecast car scales are 1:18, 1:24, 1:32, 1:43 and 1:64. There are other scales, both smaller and larger but generally speaking these are the ones most commonly used in diecast models. Among collectors the most common size would be 1:18 scale, many cars in this scale are duplicated very accurately to the actual car. Of course the most common size for youngsters would be 1:64 which is the scale used by Hot Wheels and Matchbox for their smaller cars.

    In so far as what scale is right for your collection? That depends on a couple of main factors such as the space you have for your collection and the budget you have to work with. Generally speaking 1:18 scale car lengths are around 10 to 12”, 1:24 around 6.5 to 8.5”, 1:32 around 5 to 6”, 1:43 around 4” and 1:64 around 2.5”. Of course the sizes will vary slightly depending on the actual car they are scaled after. So far as cost for 1:18 & 1:24 scales prices can range from the mid $20.00’s to over $100.00 for the more highly detailed models.

    I hope this information will help you decide which scale of diecast cars you would like to collect.

  6. Being that June is the month Summer officially arrives we thought it would be appropriate to feature some of our hot convertibles this month. Some of which include the eloquent 1941 Packard 180 Darrin, the sleek 1957 Oldsmobile Super 88 and the smoking hot 1963 Chevy Impala SS. All of these cars along with other cool convertibles can be found on the side panel of our home page.

    Our Car of the Month is also a convertible and is the very classy 1937 Maybach SW38 Spohn. A German maker that halted production after WWII. This model was highly sought after by Germany’s elite in it’s day and one look at it will tell you why.

  13. This month we are featuring as our Diecast Car of the Month one of the heavy weights of the American car industry, the 1958 Lincoln Continental Mark III. Weighing in at almost 2.5 tons this car was a monster. But what a fine classy hunk of American automotive design. Sorry folks but if you were looking for fuel economy back in the 1950’s you were not going to get it with this baby. But with a 430 cubic inch V8 this baby could cruise.

    The model we are offering is a highly detailed beautiful white convertible. Even the trunk has the exact fabric covering used on the original. Please take a look at this gorgeous model at our special price this month. “Let us take you back to the memories of your youth”.

  23. Did you know that right now and for the next 2 weeks, scientists and government officials from 47 countries are meeting to discuss the continuance of the Antarctic Treaty. The treaty signed 50 years ago in Washington DC designates “the poles as a peaceful ‘natural reserve’ that can not be used by any government for military purposes”. It also sets guidelines for the research that continues there as well as tourism and protects the 4 species of penguins and other wildlife that live and breed there.

    At All Things Penguin we believe this is an important Treaty to continue. In honor of the treaty we are featuring our pot belly penguin figurines. We carry all four of the Antarctic penguins, Emperor, Chinstrap, Adelie, and Gentoo made by Harmony Bell. Handmade in the U.K. each two inch tall penguin made from crushed marble, has the look and feel of antique ivory. The original models are carved in Gloucestershire, England. Each Pot Belly Penguin Figurine
    is cast using crushed marble, after which they are hand painted and tinted. Each pot belly figurine contains a secret compartment for storing tiny treasures and comes with an educational card about the species you purchase. Get your Antarctic Pot Belly Penguin Figurine here today.

  33. Penguins just happen to be the mascot for my favorite group Fleetwood Mac and we went to Chicago, IL to see Fleetwood Mac in concert. There were so many penguins around it was like being in penguin paradise. Plush penguins in Fleetwood Mac shirts, penguins on t-shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, canvas bags, mugs almost all the souvenirs had penguins on them. I saw many old Fleetwood Mac Concert shirts one from 1978 with penguins on it, another had a black penguin on white shirt and another yet had a white penguin on black shirt from a concert tour in 2003. Everywhere I looked there were penguins old and new for all to view.

    Of course the plush penguin we bought and named Mac will automatically go into the Fleetwood Mac section of the All Things Penguin museum page.

    Visit allthingspenguin.com to see what other speciality penguin gifts and collectible gift ideas we have to offer. Most of the penguins are souvenirs we have gathered on our travels over the last thirty plus years all inspired by a love for penguins and Fleetwood Mac.

  58. Betty Boop started out in the early 1930’s. Before long she became the cute and sexy character that we have grown to love. Her body was modeled after Mae West, and Mae Questal did her voice. During her prime, big name musical guests were making appearances in her cartoons such as Louis Armstrong in 1932, Cab Calloway in 1932 and 1933. In the 1930’s Betty Boop became a collectible figure. When the ‘80’s hit, her popularity began to grow again, and today Betty Boop is as popular as ever…“Boop Oop a Doop”

    Here at KitchenCollectablesPlus we offer a wide variety of Betty Boop Collectibles, including our Betty Boop ‘Party Time’ Figurine. Betty all dressed in her sexy red evening gown and Pudgy, her dog - dressed in a black top hat, are both ready for the 2009 NEW YEARS EVE celebration.

  97. To learn to fly a rc helicopter is a real challenge, it takes time and patience. I was trying to fly my wasp 4 and I could not keep it from flying uncontrolled. I asked a seasoned flyer what he recommended. He said to put a weight in the center bottom of the bird, just enough to allow lift-off at full throttle. I tried it and it works. It allows movement, front to side etc. I will gradually take the weight off as I learn more. This can work on any of the helicopters in my store. Give it some thought, it a hobby worth the effort.

I have tried all of them, but the one I found easiest was the pitts. It took me 1/2 hr. to put together. It was very easy. It also is very easy to fly, because it is a by/plane. I look forward to the Spring, so I can really fly it. Take a look for your self, perhaps someone you know, would like one?

  137. Helicopters – their beginning;
    The dictionary defines a helicopter as an “aircraft that flies by means of horizontally rotating blades.” It is derived from the Greek words helix, meaning spiral, and pteron, meaning wing. Helicopters may be used for military or civil purposes, including transportation of troops, infantry support, firefighting, business transportation, medical purposes and police surveillance.
    Aviation pioneers like Jan Bahyl, Louis Breguet, Emile Berliner, and Igor Sikorsky designed the first successful helicopters, with Juan de la Cierva introducing the first practical autogiro in 1923, which became the platform for the modern helicopter. Raúl Pateras de Pescara, an inventor from Argentina, demonstrated the first fully controllable helicopter using special controls. The first practical helicopter, built by German inventor Professor Heinrich Focke, could fly at a speed of 75 miles per hour. Although mass production of military helicopters started in 1942, the license for the first certified civilian helicopter was not given until 1946.
    Significant developments in helicopter engineering ensued during the first half of the 20th century, with improvements in fuels and engines. The production of lightweight turbo shaft engines in the second half of the 20th century aided in the invention of larger, faster and higher-performance helicopters. The most important apparatus in a helicopter is its rotors, which are commonly designed in the Sikorsky-layout. Many helicopters also have a smaller vertical propeller called a tail rotor mounted at the rear of the aircraft. This creates thrust in the opposite direction from the torque generated by the main rotor.
    Although helicopters have the advantage of maneuverability and can take off or land vertically anywhere, a pilot can still face potential dangers like ground resonance, low-G condition, vortex ring state, etc. Therefore, it is imperative to operate within safe flight patterns and to avoid hazardous conditions.
    With modern RC Model Helicopters, the challenge is just as high. The advantage is that they come with a simulater to practice on. They also come with a training kit.
    Some highly recommended RC Helicopters are the rc wasp helicopters series. There is one from the beginner to the advanced pro. They are available at;

  146. Good morning from LaGrange, In and a thought just crossed my mind you ought to check out our Amish handcrafted Wind Chimes Outdoor Decor Series and see why they sound great. All Wind Chimes have a pleasing sound as they catch the wind. Some are more melodic than others though. Making great sounding wind chimes is an art and a science.

    The best sounding Wind Chimes are tuned. Tuned Wind Chimes are usually made from bamboo, wood, or Aluminum Alloy Tubes. These wind chimes aren’t just breeze catching accessories: they are finely crafted percussion instruments.

    Each rod is crafted to produce a specific note. The craftsman making the Windchimes chooses a particular material. He determines whether the rods will be hollow or solid and how thick they will be. Then he cuts the rods to precisely calculated lengths. After the rods are cut, the craftsman assembles the wind chime. Each rod is placed in precise relationship to the other rods. He usually adds a clapper that strikes the rods when the wind plays the chime. Creating the sound for the particular chimes the craftsman is creating.

    Finally, he fine tunes the Chimes by adjusting the placement of the rods and clapper until they produce perfect notes. It takes perfect pitch to create a great sounding Wind Chime.

  215. Do you collect bears or just see them as a fantastic gift? Either way Chantilly Lane singing teddy bears are a wonderful unique gift. Each bear has their own unique personality and sings a song suited just for them. What amazes most people is that most of the collection moves their head and mouth while singing and creating an amazingly lifelike performance. If you are a true collector, then Chantilly Lane is a must.
